Naruki City

Jushiro_commission_mask_alt_1.png

Ten long years of confinement inside the Seireitei. And now finally Jushiro Izanagi, Captain of the tenth division had a legitimate reason to visit the world of the living. It was exciting, to him it felt like freedom. He lusted over basking in the air of the city he was charged with protecting. It had been so long, he couldn’t help but wonder just how much things changed within that time. Were there new buildings? Possibly a new bakery for that funky Arrancar Estarossa to send his mates on errands? If memory serves right, the last one was destroyed during an incident. One where he met a long time opponent, that jagged-teeth Witch. Emillia whatever the rest of her name was. Her resurrection transformed her into something unsightly, but she has a nice body though. Then there was that trifling human (Victoria)who managed to suck the air out of his lungs. That too felt like sorcery at the time. Was she actually human and whatever happened to her and that loud mouth she was rolling with? The memories, some were fond memories and others left a bitter taste in his mouth.

He was edging closer to his destination and all of those memories were cast to the wayside. The Captain was only here for one reason and that was to deal with this Antonio situation. Jushiro followed the same coordinates from which the messages were sent to him. His arrival was announced by the soft blue light peering from behind the Senkaimon gate. The black mask was first to be noticed, a sure way of identifying the man. And immediately the functions of the mask went to work. Always active as it gave the man some new insights. Stepping out from behind the Senkaimon gate atop of the skyscraper. Jushiro was immediately greeted by the Shinigami Antonio used to make his desperate plea.

“Taicho! He’s gone….he said he was being hunted by some beings called Quimchee? Oh wait Kwinshi? Maybe it was Quonkies? I think that’s what he said. They fought, well..it was more like sport for them. It happened down there ”.

The man said as he frantically scrambled towards the Captain while pointing to the streets below. Immediately Jushiro realised that the man was unsure as to what he heard. Maybe he was in shock to properly comprehend what Antonio had said. The mask remained blank for now as the silver haired man chose not to reveal his thoughts and feelings. His senses remained sharp and without much delay he moved towards the edge of the building. Stepping forward as he air walked across the skyline, carefully observing the different buildings around. He could see where the Garagunta was opened and there was something more. It was less known to the Captain but the data was recorded and already stored away. The energy signatures were different compared to the conventional Kumon, Garagunta or even a Senkaimon. The man said nothing, using only a slight lean of his head to dismiss the Shinigami. The failure to truly recall the name of those pursuing Antonio needed addressing.

Even worse was the fact that he couldn’t sense Antonio’s presence. Was he actually gone? There was some truth in what he said, even if his report missed one key detail. Before long though, the scene of Antonio’s demise became clear. And perhaps the ones responsible for purging an enemy of the Gotei 13 were the strangely cladded quintet down below. Izanagi did not react immediately to their presence, he took to observing, recording and analysing those present.

If they were truly responsible for disposing of Antonio, then that meant they’re capable warriors. The Arrancar which invaded the Soul Society possessed Soul King pieces/parts. It was all the same, since it gave them a boost to their power and abilities. This was evident during the numerous battles which took place inside the Seireitei. It begs the question. Did they dispose of Antonio so quickly despite having a Soul King part? A most intriguing thought. The Captain felt a mixture of relief and disappointment. The relief being that Antonio was no longer and so not a threat to the Shinigami. It was disappointing since it was a missed opportunity to ask questions and gain some insight. For him to reach out to the Shinigami stinks of desperation.

Without much delay, Izanagi began a slow descent towards the five individuals down below. Air walking as if traversing some invisible stairs. He expected Seimei to be in attendance also. His job was to provide cover or back up should things go awry.

“I expected to arrive and see the Espada still alive. Instead, he was eliminated swiftly. It’s amazing when you think about the trouble they gave us over ten years ago. Are the Shinigami that weak? Unacceptable”.

The man thought as he moved closer, unhurried and yet his posture and demeanour showed that he was guarded. Not one to leave himself wide open for assault. He was unsure on how this exchange would go, either way, he was ready to respond with words or through brute force.

Seimei Ukitake (浮竹 清明)

1777723887840.png

Light as if split the air atop the tall building, lining the beautiful sky of Naruki City. Seimei emerged out of that light, walking out of Senkaimon right next to his captain as he was already being greeted by one of their own. Seimei arrived just in time to hear a tad bit over a half of the tale the Shinigami told—and it certainly lit a burning, alerting feeling deep within his chest. And ridiculous thoughts, all at the same time.
”Quonkies? What the f— I mean, for people who just killed an awfully powerful Arrancar, they sound ridiculous.”

He thought to himself, but regardless of their name one thing was clear—they should be wary of them. They managed to kill Antonio, and it was described like it was mere sport to them. That indicated that they were powerful, dangerously powerful. He used his Reikaku immediately to gauge what they were facing, both their appearance and their spiritual signature. He’d never felt something quite like them, their spiritual energy was different to that of Shinigami or Hollows certainly.
”Where’d they come from? Why are they appearing now? And how come they hunted down Antonio? I mean, considering the lack of human presence and how things look, it all appears deliberate. We have to be careful. And…”

His mind paced in silence as his thoughts wandered from alertness to ridicule once more after he found out how they looked as he followed his captain, walking down the air as if using stairs.
”Oh lord Reiō, what the hell are they wearing? Why do they look like the corniest possible characters from the corniest possible human TV-show?!”

He thought as he followed his captain down to meet the Quincy, walking just two metres behind and or above him. He knew nothing about them, and whatever or whoever they were was something greatly concerning. They were powerful, and could clearly wield spiritual energy to a degree and heights great enough to fell an Espada-level Arrancar. That is quite a feat, considering this Arrancar in particular possessed a part of Soul King. But if they killed him, did they confiscate that part during the act? Or was it taken from him prior, had he lost it? Were the enemies of their enemy a potential ally, or a threat greater than the Arrancar? Seimei retained his usual relaxed composure and his emerald gaze was locked onto the five strangers below, but his mind and senses were more alert than ever. They could be walking into a trap. The Shinigami who met them undoubtedly should seek reinforcements if things go south. He followed their every breath and every movement, both physical and spiritual. Even if they were potential allies, they were potential threats as much. And powerful threats as such.

He didn’t know if Captain Izanagi held the same thoughts, but if an Arrancar desperately tried to reach for the Shinigami aid, these Quincy were likely extremely dangerous. That was an understatement. A decade ago, Gotei 13 barely withstood and survived the invasion of the Arrancar. But if one of those Arrancar was hunted by these beings like a dog, Seimei wasn’t so sure that the two of them had the necessary caliber to handle themselves. It all felt too risky, too suspicious.

However, they had to walk into this instance with an open mind. Seimei knew his task at hand—and that was to be on the lookout and have captain Jushiro Izanagi’s back if things came to that. And he followed his orders now that he’d gained his trust. His right hand was laying on the hilt of his Zanpakutō, relaxed but ready to retract the blade of his soul in less than a blink of an eye. He was ready to cast Kidō at a moments’ whim. His skill in Hohō was impeccable. He was prepared, alert. Ready.

The Rangers were standing around trying to occupy themselves while awaiting the arrival of the Shinigami. Pink was sitting on the ledge of the building they were on, kicking her legs freely while staring out at the city. She thinks about how it is quite a lovely place and she wouldn’t mind living here when away from Lichtreich. Meanwhile Blue was looking straight down over the ledge, intrusive thoughts about jumping off just for the hell of it enter his mind. These thoughts don’t come from a place of self harm but rather just wanting to enjoy the rush of falling from somewhere high up. Just adrenaline junkie behavior, simple as that. Red and Green are conversing about things unrelated to their mission, speaking about random stores in Wandenreich that stopped selling a select brand of chips they both liked. Both coming up with random theories on why they stopped being sold. Lastly, Yellow kept his eyes fixed on the sky, anticipating the Shinigami arrival. The moment a Senkaimon appears he alerts the others.
”They’re here.”
”Look alive everyone, time for our long awaited meeting. You’re up, Green, put that diplomatic hat on!”
”Way ahead of ya.”
”Also keep your guard up as well.”
”I haven’t dropped it since we got here.”

The one in the white coat approached the rangers first with another Shinigami trailing behind him. Green was the only one to step forward to meet the Captain half way while the other Rangers stayed behind. Green gives a friendly salute to Jushiro which was extended to Seimei as well. Once the three were face to face Yellow began his observations in ernest, mostly looking out for the safety of Green in case the Shinigami decided to lash out with violence. Blue nudged Red, signing at him about Jushiro’s mask asking if he thinks he is a Masked Rider fan of some kind. Red just shrugs and they both go back to observing the meeting. Pink keeps her arms crossed, looking disinterested because she is.

The Quincy
”Hello, Shinigami! Happy to meet you! I am Green, a member of the Quincy Rangers! We Quincy are spiritually powered humans who have deep spiritual ties to our Emperor, Adonai. We, first and foremost, come in peace, we are not here to fight with your kind. Furthermore, we are not around to fight Hollow’s or Arrancar either unless they directly threaten our lives or the lives of those we care about.”

He pauses for a moment, letting the two digest the things he has just said before continuing with more context, trying to answer questions before they were asked.
”If you’re wondering where our people have been all this time, well…We’ve had a troubled history, so to speak. A false Emperor kept us locked in our dimension for quite a long time, imagine being locked in Soul Society, unable to leave. Before that our people were scattered throughout the world before Adonai collectively pulled us altogether. Ah, I’m telling things backwards here. Adonai pulled us all together then the false emperor showed up and kept us locked in. Heh, sorry, I didn’t rehearse any of this and it sounds outlandish I’m sure. Quincy have been slowly returning to the Human World over the last 19 years. A lot of us are just enjoying the freedom to visit other places while others have made homes and families in this world, hence why we are coming in peace.”

Green looks back at the other rangers, Red and Blue give him a thumbs up and a nod of encouragement, letting him know he is doing fine from their perspective. Yellow continues to stare at them and Pink is looking off elsewhere. Green looks back at Jushiro and Seimei, takes a deep breath and exhales.
”To get to the point, our leader, Adonai, would very much like to meet with yours, whoever that may be. His Majesty wishes to create a proper peace treaty, converse about ideals and overall safety of humanity. Joint cooperation so to speak, we’ve seen your kind patrolling the cities and slaying Hollows, His Majesty would like to cooperate and help on that end. There is also a matter of specific Arrancar he wants dead in Hueco Mundo but that is information that he will have to relay to your leader directly, it is not for us to speak on. But aside from that we have no plans on entering Hueco Mundo once our target has been dealt with there, that much I can share. I’m not sure how much a Captain can really speak on for any of this so forgive me if I’m speaking on things above your station. Think of us as being similar in terms of rank, we Rangers hold the rank of Sternritter within the Quincy military. That should probably make this less awkward between us haha.”
”Green, you’re talking too much.”
”Huh?” He turns to look at Pink who is still looking off at the city skyline. ”Did I say something I shouldn’t have?”
”No, you are literally just talking too much, give them a chance to speak. Assuming they aren't a couple of mutes.”

Green looks at the two Shinigami and bows apologetically.
”Oh! Forgive me for rambling! Nerves are getting to me since I’m playing diplomat here and this is a very big day and important step for our people! I hope you understand!”

Meanwhile Yellow was quietly observing them, noting their Zanpakuto. So simple in design compared to some Arrancar who can wield giant axes, spears, hammers or weapons that defy logic or classification. He knows Shinigami’s weapons can change shape when a release phrase is spoken, perhaps this Katana form is some sort of “resting” stage? Makes it easier to carry perhaps as well. Yellow is thankful that the Shinigami have nothing to observe about them outside of their uniforms and whatever vestiges of Reiatsu they are giving off. Since they are in a mostly rested state they aren’t actively fully suppressing their Reiatsu, if anything Green is giving off more due to anxiety and the pressure of the position he is placed in currently. Yellow hopes the Shinigami can understand that and don’t assume he is about to attack. Red is keeping an eye on things despite how goofy he and Blue are behaving. They are keeping an eye on their comrade. The keen eyes of Red, as the team’s sniper, are looking for any sort of hostile movements in the Shinigami. Meanwhile Blue is just standing with his arms crossed, waiting for something to happen.

Despite the tense air surrounding them it is a sense of tension built upon the worry and safety of their teammate who is within striking distance of the unknown factors known as Shinigami. Green responds with one final thing before properly giving the floor to the Shinigami to speak their minds.
”If you have any questions feel free to ask, we will answer what we are allowed to answer. Again, some things may be topics our leader wishes to discuss with your leader privately, so I hope you understand. I’m sure all leaders have secrets they don’t want trickling down through the ranks.”

Just as he looked to follow up, his words cut short and quickly escaped him as his breath hitched unexpectedly—a subtle break in rhythm. His brow furrowed faintly, not in panic—but recognition. A sharp gasp escaped him before his lungs struggled to draw in more air, forcing him to take immediate mental stock of what was occurring.

It wasn’t pressure.

It was environmental displacement.

The oxygen within his side of the enclosure had been thinned and drawn away entirely, weaponized through the natural manipulative properties all Fullbringers possessed.

“Clever move… she’s certainly above average.” he admitted inwardly.

His breathing remained strained, but not enough to incapacitate him. Opaque reiatsu tightened closer against his body, condensing into a thin second layer around his frame like translucent armor. Rather than resisting her control outright, the spiritual membrane stabilized the atmosphere immediately surrounding him—preserving the remaining oxygen near his body and slowing its continued displacement long enough for him to regain steady footing. He once again towered over the shorter woman once more but didn’t seem to respond in kind, instead he measured her response and deduced that if she sought to truly fight, she’d have killed him while she had her chance, even in spite of her boisterous threats.

She then went on to finish her explanation, reassuring him that Adonai saved her life and sought to repay him by helping find more Fullbringers. Han had suspicions and even deep concerns about the seemingly benevolent patronage that was being shown by the Quincy all-father. The entire thing seemed rather…religiously zealous.

His eyes narrowed through the darkness of his goggles, as he studied her composure, which was now lessened and weighed with certain effect. A much different woman than the one who had the heretical story of Quincies. Then again…that very well could change in an instant as evidenced.

“If you’re to be believed, how am I to be sure that this Adonai will have my own best interests at heart…? What did he offer you that you think would be of use to me?” he asked bluntly.

He had his guard up still but never intended for any battles to take place today, and he was sure that he may yet be involved in one sooner than later, however it was a risk he was willing to take. He waived his hand nonchalantly towards the CCTV camera in the corner of the room. Shortly after…

Ker-chunk

Various magnetic locks and metal seals upon the doors and windows of the entire building began to unlock themselves back down to normal security levels and the door behind her opened slowly with a small hiss of the hinges relaxing themselves. This was a show of good faith, as a business man he always operated on that, and only wished to be shown the same in return. It wasn’t his fault that he wasn’t immediately inclined to believe her, as he had no reason to even play along. However, she showed that they were willing to act on violence to see a means to an end, which made him curious and ultimately—interested in what fruit could be born from this planted seed.

She watches as he stabilizes what little air remains around himself, it’s a good thing he is a quick thinker. Suffocating people using Fullbring is a specialty of Victoria, she knows most things, including Hollows, need oxygen to breath. Taking away that air supply stuns them, if only for a brief moment and that moment is typically all she needs to put them down. Thankfully she had no intention of killing Han, just rough him up for treating her like a hysterical child. Then he asks her a question.
“If you’re to be believed, how am I to be sure that this Adonai will have my own best interests at heart…? What did he offer you that you think would be of use to me?”

She thinks for a moment, unsure of what Adonai could even offer him but then again that would have to be something for him to ask directly.
”He didn’t offer me anything. Look, to understand why I feel so indebted to him you have to understand something about me first.”

The security level was dropped allowing her to approach a window and dispose of the Spiritual Energy she had reaped from the barrier he put around her. Once done all forms of Reiatsu, from her, disengaged. Like Han, her guard wasn’t down but she was also trying to show her hostilities are done. She picks up a discarded chair, one tossed during their brief exchange, and sets it upright so she can sit down in it.
”I have a deep seeded fear of Hollows. It is crippling, if there is a term stronger than phobia it would have to be that. The way they howl, how they look, the hole in their bodies, it's all so… Terrifying. So, imagine my surprise when I end up in their home world or whatever you would call it. Nothing but white sand and dead trees far as the eyes can see…”

She shivers at the memory of it and her description of Hollows. She even breaks out into a cold sweat despite being in a well air conditioned room. Her fear of these spiritual beings is real, real enough that even talking about them puts her on the edge of a panic attack.
”Try living there for almost a week, those things howling in the distance, trying to sleep in some random cave while in fear of waking up to see some horrible white mask peering back at you the moment you open your eyes. That place is hell, and those creatures are demons.”

She takes a deep breath, clasping her hands together to settle herself down from shaking so much. Upon exhaling she just stares at the floor as she continues explaining.
”Adonai and his people, the Quincy, found me and took me home. Simple as that, no bargain, no ultimatum, nothing. Like I said, I was the one who reached out and offered to find others like me because he saved my life. So if you want to meet with him, sure, fine I’ll pass the word along and see what happens from there. As far as what he has to offer you that ain’t something I can answer because I don’t know.”

Her breathing stabilizes, she pushes the thought of Hollows to the back of her mind once again as she grounds herself mentally and emotionally. She stands up, tapping on the back of the chair she was in for a moment, a nervous tick, as she looks around the room once more.
”My manners are telling me I should apologize for making a mess of your little room here, but I refuse. You pissed me off. I hope you learn how to talk to people by the time you meet up with Adonai. As far as I can tell he is a nice guy, so you may have better luck with him than me.”

She turns to leave and gives him a wave as she saunters out the door.
”Let's meet up again though, under more friendly, less business related terms.”

She pulls out her phone and texts her driver to meet her in front of the building.

Jushiro_commission_mask_alt_1.png

Jushiro found it pleasing that the Quonky clad in green made the effort to meet him halfway. The others maintained their position, suggesting that the meeting may tilt towards the diplomatic side. With Seimei following closely, Jushiro remained as he was during his descent. Still unhurried but very much wary of his surroundings. The quintet were far from lowkey, based on their appearance, they would no doubt garner the attention of those unfamiliar with them. Red, Pink, Green, Blue and Yellow. Sprinkle some start dust and one could watch them twinkle for sure. The Captain reserved judgement for now, his curiosity was at the forefront of everything. They’re currently the known unknown, the known killers of Antonio but unknown to the Shinigami forces.

The Captain nodded in response to the friendly salute extended to him. Start as you mean to go on, right? The golden orbs behind the black mask found themselves wandering. His eyes drifted between each ranger not directly standing before him. Their reaction to his presence, interest and lack of interest were duly noted. Both Jushiro and Seimei finally gained clarity as to who the Quonkies were. Not Quonkies but Quincies. Replace the letters O and K with I and C and the man would’ve been spot on concerning what Antonio said. Upon hearing Green’s initial words, a grin manifested itself on the mask’s surface.

“It’s Quincies! It’s not whatever that bumbling buffoon said. And Quincy Rangers? Does that mean there are different sub-groups? Emperor Adonai and deep spiritual ties? Hmm”.

Jushiro had several thoughts racing through his mind as Green made his introduction. And in doing so gave some insight as to who they are. Furthermore, he was careful to inform the Shinigami that they’re not around to fight Hollows or Arrancar. Fighting and cleansing Hollows remains a key function of the Shinigami. That is their basis and partly why they exist. Maintaining the balance as it were. And the Quincies may have immediately hinted at not wanting to upset that balance. It was subtle but noteworthy. That was Jushiro’s initial assessment, but was he overthinking it?

Before long, Green continued giving even more insight into who they are. As Green spoke, Jushiro drew some parallels to the Shinigami and themselves. Quincy seems to have emperors, more specifically one emperor at any given time. The Shinigami traditionally have a Captain Commander. Despite Central 46 inserting themselves as the commander, Jushiro never recognized them as such. The mention of a separate dimension and only now returning to the human world. Most Shinigami were only educated about the three realms. The Soul Society, Hueco Mundo and the Human World. To think that there is a fourth among them was truly remarkable and eye opening. Well, it's a fifth realm if one didn’t conveniently forget about Hell. To think they’ve been filtering back into the human world for nearly two decades without notice. This was truly remarkable and rather concerning.

As Green looked back at his comrades for approval, the words ‘Please Continue’ was written across the surface of the mask. Of course momentarily replacing the smile so the Quincy’ could see the Captain’s intrigue. Green continued on, revealing more information that Jushiro absorbed in full. He could only hope that Seimei was doing the same too. They will have a recap later on, not to mention he will have to report back to the Sotaicho not too long from now. That’s assuming Captain Itaku didn’t kill everyone while they’re away from the Seireitei. And should such a thing happen, the masked one would surely shoulder some of the blame. Green finished off by sending an invitation to break bread with their Emperor, Adonai. But before the Captain could respond, Pink decided to interject on their behalf. Jushiro found the interaction amusing. It was now finally time for the Shinigami to have the floor and respond to Quincy’.

“Well damn that was quite the introduction. And while we’re at it, I’m the Juubantai Taicho, Jushiro Izanagi. You already knew I was a Captain though, which means you’ve probably been observing us Shinigami for quite some time”.

The Captain cocked his head to the right as he chuckled in conjunction with his mask morphing before their eyes. The colour scheme changed to gray and black, as it took to mimicking the rangers helmet. It was almost the perfect copy save for a few details such as not being a full helmet. The colour scheme changed again to gray and orange this time before settling on black and white for the time being. A colour scheme which matches Jushiro’s garments.

“I reckon you know more than you’re currently allowed to say. But that’s okay, I won’t begrudge you that. Firstly, thank you for eliminating Antonio. I had hoped to personally do it myself but it wasn’t to be. I now have some many questions. Like, how did you manage to do it and so swiftly? What manner of weaponry did you use? What drove you to pursue Antonio in the first place?”.

Jushiro paused for a moment, looking side to side as if gearing up to say something scandalous and outrageous. His left hand resting on his chin as he edged closer to Green. Then came a whisper. “Hey, what the fuck is up with chompers over there? He looks unhinged. And what’s up with Pinky, is she down for… ya know.. Hint hint, wink wink. Take better care of your girl”. Jushiro stepped back with a chuckle as if telling an inside joke. He was playful with his words directed at Blue and Pink. A way to lighten the mood and settle some nerves.

“You mind talking about this specific Arrancar that your Emperor wants dead? I mean that sounds rather personal, like they were being nefarious towards your kind. You mentioned that the Quincy are slowly returning to the human world. I imagine that Quincy will want to inhabit both the human world and this other dimension you were locked in? As for cooperating with each other. It’s not a decision I can make all on my own. Such a request will have to be agreed upon. For example, we know not the manner in which you slay Hollow kind. Do you use swords? I mean I’ll show you mine if you show me yours. Mine is about thirty-seven inches long, maybe yours have more girth? Wait. Pause. Damn. Well, shit. Regardless, I’m sure we can come to a mutual agreement that would benefit both. I would very much like to meet your leader but that privilege will be passed onto our Captain Commander. If I can make this meeting happen, how will we get in contact with one another? Heh, I suppose you can send word through one of my officers stationed here in Naruki City”.

Jushiro was careful not to pry too much. However, he did have his concerns. The Quincy’ are currently a variable, with the depth of their potential and potency an unknown factor. If they’re returning to the world of the living, that means they lived among other regular humans. Was that before the false emperor locked them away in this other dimension? As he finished speaking his mask settled back into its primary form and colour scheme. A grin adorning its surface before he asked one last thing.

“You said imagine ourselves being locked in the Soul Society. Do you have a name for this place you were locked in?”.

The Captain wasn’t demanding information, he was casually fishing for it while gauging the response of the rangers. He didn’t ignore the fact that they’re Sterinrittters, equivalent to Captains inside the Quincy military. If they’re that strong then it somewhat explains why they were able to defeat Antonio. He was careful not to ask for any further explanation concerning certain statements made. This was his way of avoiding suspicion.

Seimei Ukitake (浮竹 清明)

1778443279767.png

”Girth?!”

If anything was going to land Seimei the rank of a lieutenant one day, especially under Jushiro Izanagi, it would be his ability to retain patience and silence—considering that his captain had quite the mouth which he ran about with little care. Considering the amount of information they’d just received and the threat these Quincies posed, Captain Izanagi was quite comfortable running his mouth and throwing around jokes here and there. But, it was Captain Izanagi after all. Seimei did his best in taking in all of the information the Green Ranger made available while retaining his composure and sharpness of sense. He followed every breath, every twitch and every slight spike in the spiritual energy of these unknown, even alien people. And one thing concerned him above many others in this very specific scenario.
”…Sternritter? Alright, so they’re Captain-level fighters according to this green cornball. This green cornball and his buddies have the ability to overpower us. There’s five, Captain-level threats that just eliminated Antonio with little effort and we have no clue what their abilities or anything of the sort are about…”

He gave his train of thoughts a slight break as he pumped the brakes every so softly as he did his best in retaining his usual composure. But his brows frowned deeper out of mere annoyance, and his emerald gaze as if peered through the back of his captains’ head—in ways all but nice for sure. His lifted his foot off the brakes and allowed his mind to run free while he continued to assess the situation.
”…And this mouthy fucking FOOL is asking them to show their weapons, jokes around, asks about the female ranger?? Is he OUT of his fucking mind? Yeah if these guys end up attacking us because of how he talks, he would certainly deserve being left to his own devices. Too bad his subordinates are loyal…”

He surmised in silence, but his captain was sure to feel his gaze and more than anything he could probably hear his thoughts without really hearing them. Despite Seimei feeling more or less agitated, he didn’t let it cloud his senses or his judgment for the slightest. He retained his focus and his mind in the present. His posture was picture perfect, fit for a soldier of his morals. His breathing was steady, his rhythm was impeccable. Only his eyes betrayed him. His gaze moved from the captain and it paced from Green to Yellow to Pink and then to Red and Blue. He measured the distance between himself, his captain and them. What they could weight, their hands, the reach, their length, how they breathed, what their expressions told. What their spiritual energy spoke of. What their essence sung about. He kept his right hand rested upon the hilt of his Zanpakutō, quietly reminding himself that should things go south and that if diplomacy failed he’d be ready—he had to act fast if need be. There was five unknowns surrounding them, and despite him not showing it, it worried him.
”…Loyal to him and Gotei 13. His approach to diplomacy isn’t what I’d choose, but he’s damn charismatic and smart in not asking too much. I think he deliberately didn’t ask them about the Soul King fragment. I’m not gonna go beyond my purpose yet, I’ll only talk if I feel like I can handle diplomacy better. Izanagi-sama would probably beat the hell out of me if I did, but if that could save our lives… I’d rather have that.”

He thought quietly as he chose silence over anything else as he retained his posture and focus. What they were witnessing and discussing could certainly be the spark to light the fire of something truly historic—an unprecedented alliance of might never seen before. Two militaries maintaining the balance of souls and ensuring that the forces of Hueco Mundo could never threaten any state of existence ever again. But he was still bothered by the fact that Antonio asked for their help. He was also bothered by the fact that Quincy hadn’t reached out to them earlier. He still vastly and wholeheartedly believed that something was off. The more he knew, the more suspicious he became. He personally believed that Antonio couldn’t have possessed a Soul King fragment at the moment of his demise, because killing him wouldn’t have been a sport if he was in possession of something so mighty. He still remembered how the shinigami struggled during the invasion, how weak even many of the captains seemed in the face of Arrancar that were powered by the might and spirit of the Soul King himself.

He was also concerned about the fact that they hadn’t stumbled upon their dimension before. If they were locked within it, it meant that outside interference was likely impossible as well. But the Soul Society and Shinigami had existed for eons, and it felt like an impossibility that no one would’ve stumbled upon an entire realm or a race, a people during all this time. The fact that they knew only so little about the Quincy while they knew so much about us was immensely worrying. The best they could do was hope that they indeed came with peaceful intentions.

Yellow kept his eyes on Seimei, he seemed agitated and on edge. He had every right to be but so far the Rangers have done nothing to invoke such a negative response. Yellow suspects this one of being tightly wound, a ball of stress and nerves that will crack should any of the rangers do anything wrong. Speaking of the other rangers, aside from Green, they are all behaving in their own unique way. Pink has her back to the entire situation, sitting down on the edge of the building and enjoying the skyline of Naruki. If she wasn’t before she is now currently thinking about getting a residence here in the city. Red is grinning ear to ear with pride over how Green is handling this situation. If Blue’s mouth could be seen he is practically doing the same and feeling that same sense of pride. While Seimei is assessing them to be a threat the Rangers are busy day dreaming about living in the city and having pride in their teammate.
“Well damn that was quite the introduction. And while we’re at it, I’m the Juubantai Taicho, Jushiro Izanagi. You already knew I was a Captain though, which means you’ve probably been observing us Shinigami for quite some time”.

Green nods his head, not even denying it in the slightest. The observations on the Shinigami weren’t malicious but the Quincy had other means of gathering intel on their military structure.
”We’ve been having skirmishes with Antonio across Hueco Mundo for a decade now, we learned his habits and ways of fighting all while holding ourselves back, letting him learn nothing. That pretty much sums up the first question, if you sand bag someone for ten years then suddenly go full throttle on them they won’t survive. We also used teamwork, that's just how we, in particular, do things. And what led us to pursue him…”

Green looks back at his team and Red gives the nod of approval. Green looks back at the Captain to answer.
”Antonio was labeled a Sinner by his Majesty. The sin of using a fragment of the Soul King for a means of gaining power.”

This may spark a question on what sort of authority Adonai has to just label someone a Sinner. Either he is an egotistical maniac or there is more to this Quincy Emperor than the Shinigami currently realize. While these brief answers were given the Captain began asking more personal questions about the Rangers. Green was willing to oblige the questioning, as the Rangers themselves are free to speak openly about themselves.
”Blue is mute, he’s been that way since we were young. A birth defect, but he communicates through sign language or writing with pen and paper. And easy on the comments about Pink please. She’s had to deal with that sort of crap for years, it's why she is so cold and jaded now. She used to be a lot more up beat.”

Hearing her name Pink’s head turns ever so slightly to see why she was mentioned. Catching just a bit of what Green said caused her to roll her eyes and then set them back on the skyline, returning to ignoring this whole meeting. The Captain then continued with his questioning.

Green chuckles a bit because there are a lot of questions to answer all at once, on top of how human the Captain was speaking. He sounds like any other human in the living world, he honestly expected all Shinigami to speak like they come straight from feudal Japan. He thinks for a moment, answering all the questions in his mind before doing it out loud. Meanwhile Red has his smile turned upside down as he looks to Blue.
”Did you catch all that?”

Blue shakes his head.
”Yeah, me either. I hope Green doesn’t look to us to repeat any of that.”

Once his internal pondering was done Green looks to the Captain with a smile on his face and ready to respond.
”The Arrancar his Majesty wants dead is Emillia Laurena Kastile. Heterochroma eyes, one purple and one pink and she also has long pink hair that she keeps in a braid. Her mask fragment covers the lower half of her face. She is wanted for the same sin as Antonio, using a Soul King Fragment to gain power. We understand the balance the Shinigami must keep so we are hoping that, with your cooperation, that we will be able to freely hunt for her and execute her without having to do it sneakily as we have been doing these past ten years.”

He gives a pause to let the Captain soak in this information.
”Then the matter of us living in the human world. Not all Quincy are combatants, some have a basic understanding of their powers but can’t do much harm with them. They wish to experience a life outside of Lichtreich, the name of our realm. They’re living like ordinary humans, but we Quincy look after our own so if any harm befalls them then we must retaliate. His Majesty’s protection extends to all Quincy. It's why we need peace talks and understand so if a slew of Hollows are killed you understand it was in self defense and not senseless hunting.”

There is hope that Quincy won’t be hounded by Hollows and given the near twenty years of silence things seem good. These “civilian” level Quincy have so little Reiryoku to their name that they can suppress it and pass off as an ordinary human in the eyes of a random Hollow looking for a meal. Though if someone went looking for a Quincy they would sense their presence all over the city. Then came the method of slaying Hollows and Green was more than happy to show off his Spirit Weapon. He holds his hand out to the side and using the ambient Reishi in the air he summons his lance, holding it upside down.
”We use Spirit weapons, every Quincy has one that is unique to them and their method of fighting. I have a Lance, Red uses a Bow, Yellow uses a Katana, and Pink uses Greaves like the leg armor. Blue doesn’t have one, he uses his bare hands. We Quincy use Reishi to fight primarily. The ones that are living civilian lives cannot manipulate Reishi the way those of us who are trained for the military can, they also don’t meet the Reiryoku requirements for things like that either. At best they can make cups and the like.”

Green disengages his weapon, the traces of Reishi fading away and revealing a five pointed star charm hanging around his wrist. He made sure the Captain could see it so he knows that's how they form their weapons.
”As for the meeting, his Majesty would like to meet here in Naruki City ten days from now at noon. The human world is good neutral territory for both parties. His Majesty will have some peace offerings to give to the Commander along with more specific information that I am not allowed to speak on. Umm I believe that covers everything you asked, if not please do let me know if I missed a question or didn’t answer it in a way you liked.”

Then the final question is asked, it seems to have more weight to it than the others for some reason. Asking about their home directly puts Green a tad bit on edge, but it also gives him an advantage to set a precedent. He takes a deep breath and answers the question.
”Our home is known as Lichtreich, as I mentioned before. It was created a little over two thousand years ago by his Majesty, Adonai. It was meant to be a safe haven for our kind and as such only our kind know how to access it. This is why you know nothing of it because it was created outside the keen eyes of all but the Soul King himself who can foresee the future. That is all I can say about our home, anything more will have to be answered by his Majesty. Are there any more questions you’d like to ask?”
”I have one.”

Yellow Ranger Theme

The Rangers are all shocked by Yellow suddenly speaking up, even Pink turns around to see what he is going to say. The fact he has something to ask is odd since he is usually the quiet one merely observing the situation. Yellow points at Seimei and asks his question to him directly.
”You there, why is your hand on the hilt of your blade? Are you so fearful of meeting new people that you immediately think we are going to be violent? If so, is this how all Shinigami behave? Is your Captain an outlier of peacefulness within your ranks?”

He stops talking and sighs realizing he asked more than one question to Seimei and so he combines it all into one.
”What are you afraid of?”

The question couldn’t be any more blunt than that. Yellow has been observing Seimei and he doesn’t like what he has seen in the slightest. It makes the strategist of the Rangers worry if all Shinigami are so gungho for violence. Is there a potential of them being stabbed in the back the moment they believe them to be friends? These are the sort of things Yellow thinks about, it's what keeps the team safe, however, in this moment it goes beyond just his team. He worries for the Quincy race as a whole.
