Kyōshi (教師, "Teacher") | Gakuin no Hōseki (学院宝石, "Academy's Jewel")

The Inpei Clan (隠蔽, Hiding) heavily influences the Shino'o Academy and the monetary assets of the entirety of the Soul Society, mainly, Kan (, "Ring"). Although one of the lower noble clans, their influence could amount to the same level as that of the four great noble families due to their business in the trade of currency. Often the financial advisors of many of the other clans that rest within the Soul Society, the Inpei is indefinitely involved in the life of both Shinigami and Rukongai denizens.

Physical Description:
Jaakuna is tall, with a particularly slender frame, save for her womanly assets. Her emerald-toned locks are often held up by sunset-colored bows on both sides of her head, locking her long hair into place in a wrapped fashion in loose loops. Her eyes are often mistaken to match the hue of her hair, but should one look closely enough, they could see the faint tones of periwinkle. At the center of her forehead are painted petals with the one along the bridge of her nose elongated, symbolizing beauty and social status, as well as matching eye make-up. Her attire is rather form-fitting, sleeveless to show off the toned muscles of her arms. Her bottoms aren't as flowy as her peers, straying from the traditional hakama bottoms to loose-fitting pants that mimic its appearance, yet allows for more theatrics suited to her style of fighting. Jaakuna also foregoes the traditional socks and straw sandals and instead donning slippers for more stability.

Personality:
Born as the only daughter to the Inpei's current Head, Inpei Okubyō, she was definitely spoiled, and for his only daughter wanting to join the Academy, it nearly put him in his grave. The poor man already had heart attacks any time she sneezed, so imagine when he found out that she was highly in-tune with close-quarters combat. Jaakuna was spoiled rotten, but thankfully, her three older brothers made sure that she didn't become a pompous monster that used her influence and money for her own gain.

Jaakuna is extremely sociable, a more than apparent quality even after having become one of Shino'o's Academy's instructors. As the advanced Hakuda instructor, she has a more hands-on approach to teaching, closely akin to zanjutsu instructors. She takes great care in both interactions in and out of the classes. Though many say that she turns into a completely different person when she's instructing: Jaakuna becomes even more passionate, a burning fire in her eyes when the energy she exudes is matched by those willing to learn the stress and care it takes to master ones' body. Many speak of just how detailed and effective Jaakuna's teachings have accelerated their own understandings and executions. Although she is normally assigned those who excel already in the area, she makes the time to assist those who seek her out with glee.

Even outside of her family's influences into the Academy and its prospects, Jaakuna appears as humble as someone from the lowest districts, always grateful for her position and opportunities granted out of her own strengths. The money that comes from them is set aside for those that might go without, always carrying a few extra kan in her pocket as a just-in-case.

Reiryoku Level: High Spirit Class: Four ——— Reiryoku Control: Expert
Jaakuna is an above average shinigami in terms of the level of reiryoku within her body. Compared to the many that plague the Gotei Thirteen's ranks, she would seemingly be infantilized in comparison to raw spiritual power. Yet that does not bring fear; instead, it bears fruit to challenges, constant pushing to get better, and refine her prowess to unimaginable heights. She is of no laughing matter. Despite being an instructor, as a seated member of the Third Division, Jaakuna was forever a sight to behold, and an entity to never cross irrationally. Although inept at kido aptitude, the filter of reiryoku flows through her veins and muscles, providing devastating power to all of her punches even when holding back.

The control to keep that power from going awry is attuned finely, mimicking what seems to be an endless pool of strength only hidden behind acute control. The need to lash out and thrash everything in sight is unbecoming, unnecessary, even in the face of enemies. If she were to lay all of her cards out on the table, then what would be the point of having a winning hand? Jaakuna's style of fighting, although explosive, is careful, calculated with every swing of her sword, every punch that is thrown, every kick that cuts through flesh, bone, and stone, is all valued to her level of control.

Reiatsu Effect: Damage

Spiritual Awareness:
Not yet a master in this area of expertise, but capable enough, Jaakuna is more than able to sense and differentiate signatures allowed for safe passage in and out of World of the Living excursions during her time as an escort handler for student groups. She acted as an overseer while the main instructor assisted the students in trainings for Soul Burials, especially for first years. She could admire their wonder with the World of the Living, but not a single one of them could ever fathom the dangers of Hollows until it happens. The knowledge allows for these explorations and learning experiences to go without any casualties.

Zanjutsu Level: Expert ——— Hoho Level: Journeyman
Although no master, Jaakuna constantly informs her students that a zanpakuto is not to be seen as a mere weapon to hold; instead, she tells them to imagine it as an extension of their arm, especially considering the bond one would have to build with their spirit to perform at even higher cadences. One of the four main forms of shinigami combat, zanjutsu is a close second to her hakuda prowess. Her abilities in both sealed and released forms of her zanpakuto are dangerously frightening, coupled with the innate usage of her Hoho makes her incredibly hard to deal with at face value. Merely a practitioner of the arts, Jaakuna merely accents her masteries to make her into a rabid machine that had both power and precision at her hands. Jaakuna's malleability of using her hakuda mastery to accentuate her zanjutsu techniques only further prove just how innate her understanding of said extension. There are many renditions of a shinigami's sealed zanpakuto, her weapon of choice is an uchigatana: a practical, shorter, and less curved sword worn edge-up for close-quarters combat.

Hakuda Level: Master ——— Kidō Skill Level: None
Jaakuna is extremely prideful in her hand-to-hand combat. Paired with her expertise in zanjutsu, close-quarters are particularly difficult against her. Her brothers constantly fighting one another as they grew up, and as she got older, Jaakuna would have to physically pry them apart before they killed each other. Her innate strength and ability to exert the reiryoku from within her put her in the Academy's top class (though speculation could be made it was due to family influence). Regardless of rumored familial assistance, Jaakuna's persistence and performance superseded any and all misgivings, setting those rumors to rest. She worked hard, harder than anyone to maintain both spiritual prowess and physique. Jaakuna's strength also lies therein the flexible capabilties of her own body; considered a contortionist of sorts, she is more than capable of landing jarring hits in even the most uncomfortable of positions, self-induced or forced. Though while being a master in Hakuda, it would stem from a lack of other areas, especially the likes of Kido. Jaakuna isn't disheartened though. It was just something that she could never perform, let alone perfect. A master of one may not be better than a jack-of-all-trades, but facing a master in her craft is nonetheless terrifying.

Zanpakutō: Hakaimono (破壊者, "Destroyer")

362abae3f3837e7b5e7f76befe8b488c.webp

Zanpakutō Spirit:
An untamable beast, bound only by the chains of the Spirit World, but even then, it mimics the dark that consumes its form. Anytime that Jaakuna speaks with it, the voice seems to stem from every direction, never a lone point. It is a vast emptiness in which it dwells, and itself, seemingly incorporeal, until she looks down at her feet and sees the massive ravager staring right back at her. A pool of ink, reflected only in the color of its surroundings, yet the ominous glow of its eyes as it speaks to her, focuses on her, is more than confirming the reality of its existence. Hakaimono asks for only one thing every time she depends on his power: to wreak havoc and allow for the stain of blood and flesh to be wrought upon stainless soul-steel. She agrees begrudgingly, though their strained relationship seems not to impede on their performances on either one of their parts.

Zanpakutō Release Phrase: Ki ga kuruu, Hakaimono (気が狂う破壊者, "Go crazy, Destroyer")

Shikai: In its first state of release, the uchigatana forms into a kyoketsu-shoge. As a short-ranged combatant, this melee-type heightens Jaakuna's physical abiltities and reach with what seems to be an infinite cord, but her weapon is more of a living-type. The destructive force of Hakaimono is only further pronounced as the beast cares not even for the safety of his wielder. The weapon as both a straight edge and hook, allowing for piercing and grappling motions, evidently formed in the alleged shape of her spirit's gnarled fangs. Should an opponent try to create distance, using the hook to cut into their flesh then allows for either Jaakuna to close the distance herself or bring them to her. The curved hook also serves to sever at any moment's notice with its sharpened edges. With only a taste and desire for blood and carnage, even she is subjected to its wild thrashings, and should she miss her own reel, she can suffer injuries all the same. With Hakaimono's motives bleeding through each and every swing, stab, or clutch, even his wielder is subjected to his wrathful bloodlust. The more that which stains his steel, the more ferocious and powerful the blows become, the deeper the cuts go, the heavier the wounds bleed. Jaakuna is merely a host for an unsalvageable monster, and the leash that she holds is continuously growing looser and looser.

Relationships:
Tsunayashiro Toru - The Cook

A foot-length of a height difference between the two already serves as the one of the strangest factors in their relationship. Their beginnings are rather scuffed, Jaakuna having found Toru in one of the Academy's classrooms acting as a recruiter, showing off his culinary skills that genuinely stirred the pit in her stomach. When he had noticed her observing, he called her up to try out his creation. Although it looked unappetizing, she knew where the in-academy healers were, so she figured why not. At first taste, Jaakuna was thoroughly pleased, never tasting such broad flavors in such a consistency before. In complete seriousness, she practically asked for his hand in marriage to which he stoically declined. Many would believe her to be joking, but Jaakuna's love of food superseded those whispers of jokes. If she had someone to cook for her, and as good as this, she'd never go hungry, and would always be happily full. Throughout their long-time interactions, Jaakuna would never leave him without asking him to marry her, only to get turned down again and again, yet he never restricts her visits.

Fun Fact(s):

⦿ Jaakuna's favorite food are barbecue pork buns.
⦿ Jaakuna is very good at gambling, which is mostly the reason she never has to rely on family money.
⦿ Jaakuna has the unique ability to sleep anywhere, even in the most uncomfortable positions.
⦿ Jaakuna likes to go on the World of the Living excursions to buy things. She also has a secret bank account since she knows that Kan wouldn't work.

A child of noble upbringing makes a name for herself as best as she can, straying from familial power and instead focusing on what she can gain through her own actions. Inpei Jaakuna is a woman of focus and determination with a specialty in close-quarters combat and teaching it.

Physical Description: Seimei appears as a man of strict posture and a certain playfulness to him. He has pale skin and appears athletic physically, having a lean but muscular body composition. He has long, blonde hair that he keeps unbound, and one of his most striking features are his mint-green eyes. He wears a regular Shinigami hakama, and keeps his Zanpakuto tied to his waist belt.

1770368866481.png

Personality:
Seimei appears as a jovial, sarcastic and a even foolish person who uses the aforementioned traits to mask his true nature at almost all times. He often claims to have forgotten names of others in an insulting manner, and often jokes in the most inappropriate moments. His act and the transparency of his act in itself is a reason why many of his colleagues often find him hard to trust, and he himself only trusts a rare few among his peers. Beneath his mask, he is an individual who constantly seems to take mental notes and analyses every step of every other person in the same room as himself. And he certainly never forgets names of faces. His behavior is well explained by his unsual upbringing. While he was born in the Ukitake household, he became a political victim of the infighting within the family when he was a mere child.

Seimei was born as the eldest to the head of the Ukitake family. When he was but four years old, his uncle Ryōmen Ukitake wanted to usurp his father and take the leadership of the family. After he lost his bid, he kidnapped Seimei as an act of revenge and abandoned him in the Inuzuki district (石川, Hanging Dog). Ryōmen was eventually imprisoned on the orders of Central 46, but Seimei was claimed to be dead as his father nor the aiding Shinigami from Gotei 13 could find him. Seimei was found by an elderly lady who merely called herself by the name of Owl, and she them took him under her wing after noticing that he required food—a rarity among the common souls of Rukongai. She raised him as her own for six years, until one fateful night she was killed by a band of marauders. Seimei witnessed her murder while hiding, and was highly traumatized by the event and still blames himself for death, believing that if she didn’t have to get him food, she’d still live. As such, Seimei had to learn to survive on his own—lurking past threats to survive and even silently murdering people with goods necessary for him. He avoided any unnecessary threats by remaining silent and invisible to the world around him. This in turn taught him to constantly analyse and think through every option before making any rushed actions or decisions.

Eventually as he found himself in the Shino’o Academy, his father found him and reinstated him into the family. However, it was far too late by then—having already become a pragmatic and an analytical murderer who had withdrawn so far within that it became clear that he didn’t want to be reached. As such, playing the part of a forgetful fool is his only way of at least appearing approachable on the outside. As he is immensely analytical, Seimei more or less hates incoherent actions or anything that lacks a plan behind it—being extremely organized in how he approaches challenges. He is also rather responsible, having been able to take care of himself for years by simply being smart in his approach to survival.

Reiryoku Level & Spirit Class: 6 (High)
Seimei’s Reiryoku pool is certainly high, allowing him to operate efficiently and effectively across his combat repertoire without any notable strain. His reserves are more than sufficient to support constant technique use and prolonged engagements, rather than short or brief bursts of immense and overwhelming power. His spiritual power began to shape during his early childhood in the 78th District of Southern Rukongai, and it developed over time as he had to survive in conditions far harsher than most. His blooming power began to show itself as a need to feed on food, something that alerted other spirits about. To avoid unnecessary attention, he instinctively suppressed his power and avoided being seen or witnessed for as much as possible especially after the untimely death of his ”grandmother”, Owl. However, his life brought both his body and soul towards one another and his power grew as if it was inevitable.

His power grew further as he was found and guided to the Shin’o Academy, and due to his pre-existing experience in lethal combat he seemed to excel and surpass many of his peers at the time both in terms of skill and power.. However, due to his self-suppressive behavior and restraint his teachers believed that this would likely hinder him from ever reaching his full potential—something that is still likely the case. Regardless, especially after his service in Onmitsukidō his Reiryoku had reached a level comparable to that of most lieutenants of Gotei 13.

In combat, his Reiryoku enhances his Kidō techniques by reinforcing his output and the power and effect of the spells, enabling him to surpass even very capable opponents. Rather than overwhelming a target through sheer volume and forcr, his spiritual energy allows him to channel his power in highly precise and achte techniques that seem overwhelming nonetheless. Also, as one of many testaments to his ability, Seimei’s spiritual power allows him to perform constant Hohō without frequent interruption—although much of it is thanks to his precise control. This allows him to maintain an impressively high pace on a constant without any visible fatigue or deceleration.

Reiatsu Description & Effects: Paralysis
Seimei’s Reiatsu almost mirrors the person he is—cold, intentionally controlled and deceptive in how dangerous it truly is. Seimei’s Reiatsu manifests itself in a yellow color when released and while it doesn’t seem overwhelming compared to those of captain-level, the effects are surprising to those unprepared. It paralyzes those who he casts his full intent at, and as if disorienting their minds. When released at its fullest, Seimei’s Reiatsu manifests itself as a yellow flame-like aura that engulfs him while pulsating a constant gust of wind outward which is powerful enough to push stones and lighter objects.

Reiryoku Control: Expert
Seimei began to learn how to control his Reiryoku almost instinctively as a child, as hiding his Reiatsu and his presence altogether was a key to his survival in Inuzuki. When he joined the Shin’o Academy, his already instinctive and conservative approach to using his spiritual power was further refined. Due to his control and talent, he became especially skilled in Kidō. It was first determined that his talents would suit best in the service of Onmitsukidō, despite him suiting Kidō Corps far better.

During his tenure as a Shinigami his control has only become more refined through years of combat and continuous practice. As such, he is capable of immensely precise command of his own spiritual power which in turn allows him to spend minimal amounts of energy in exchange for a maximal result.

Reikaku:
Seimei’s Reikaku mastery has been almost subconscious as a child. When he stayed hidden and roamed around undetected during his days in Inuzuki, he already could use Reikaku to ensure that nobody was around where he was despite not necessarily seeing others. Later through training and experience, Ishikawa has refined his already natural skill in Reikaku to rather refined levels.

Not only can Seimei sense movements within a radius of five-hundred metres, he has the skill to sense the condition and potential damage of the target without as much as seeing them.

c819f1243af56007d8af6e6ccaa61315.png

Hakuda: Journeyman
While Seimei isn’t a slouch in terms of hand-to-hand combat and can certainly hold his own against even more powerful enemies, it isn’t his forte or the strongest skill at all. He is well founded in the fundamentals of distance management, balance, movement and position but he lacks initiative and the controlled aggression of those who are truly masterful or experienced and skilled in Hakuda. Seimei is full well capable of a range of fundamental kicks, punches, takedowns and grappling techniques but he isn’t the most skilled in combining the few.

As such, he does his best to avoid hand-to-hand combat. However, he uses Hakuda well to supplement in Zanjutsu whenever it is sensible.

Hohō: Expert
Unlike like with Hakuda, Seimei is somewhat a natural talent in Hohō—much of his so-called talent stemming from his childhood days surviving in Inuzuki. Escaping and avoiding death at all costs became the integral part of his everyday life, thus he had to learn how to outpace and outmaneuver those threatening him in the most crowded spaces efficiently. When his Reiryoku control, footwork and overall coordination became refined through training and arduous hours of sparring, his Hohō skills came to supplement both his Zanjutsu and Hakuda perfectly, being among the fastest users of the said method during his academy days and he has remained immensely fast even today. Despite his speed being immense and overwhelming to most, his true strength lies in the accuracy and lack of wasted movement—retaining perfect form and moving just enough every time he decides to.

As such, he expends minimal amounts of energy and can maintain fast paced movement for far longer than most. Instead of blitzing short bursts, Ishikawa maintains a steady but a relatively high speed at all times and leaves ample room for increasing his speed at all times. Due to his speed, he is capable of disabling entire groups of lesser Hollows in just seconds. His ability is such that he seems to appear in multiple places simultaneously and leaves afterimages behind his movements—making it immensely difficult for opponents to follow him optically or through any sense at all.

Known Techniques: Shunpō, Utsusemi, Senka

Kidō: Expert
Due to his talent in Reiryoku control and a kind of academic skill, Seimei became rather skilled in Kidō ever since his days in the Shin’o Academy—learning and casting Kidō techniques felt almost natural to him, and he became skilled in all of its facets save for Kaido. Seimei is considerably skilled in Eishōhaki, allowing him to combine low to even mid-level Kidō techniques with his Hohō and Zanjutsu.

Unlike Shinigami who focus and rely on powerful Hadō or high-volume Reiatsu expenditure, Seimei’s skill in Kidō is entirely built and found upon precise, well-timed, and layered use of techniques in an order as seamless as possible in order to control the flow of battle to win it both tactically and technically. He is very skilled in Bakudō, and he often applies mid to high-level techniques in order to restrain, interrupt, or suspend his opponents or even their techiques—having a keen understanding of how Bakudõ intreracts with an opponents’ Reiryoku flow. Instead of blunt imprisonment, he seeks to use his skill surgically and with precision—disabling his enemies before they can even do anything.

Seimei has also shown notable skill in concealment and detection-oriented Kidō, such as Kyokkō and Kakushitsuijaku—skills that came immensely useful for him when he served in Onmitsukidõ. When coupled with his Zanpakutō’s Shikai ability, these techniques become immensely effective as he can make an opponent misjudge and distrust their own perception and cognitive abilities as a whole. While Seimei is not particularly skilled in destructive Kidō compared to his skills in binding, Seimei is very capable of utilizing Hadō at a rather high level compared to most. Seimei utilizes Hadō as a way to finish a battle instead of brute destruction and devastation. He prefers precise techniques, such as Raikōhō or Haien over widespread destruction. Seimei is also rather skilled in barrier and defensive Kidō and can cast advanced techniques such as Dankū and can build barrier formations relatively rapidly. He utilizes Kekkai -techniques as a means to protect himself, his allies or to isolate his enemies to buy time in the heat of battle.

Known Techniques:
  • Hadō #1 – Shō (衝)
  • Hadō #4 – Byakurai (白雷)
  • Hadō #11 – Tsuzuri Raiden (綴雷電)
  • Hadō #31 – Shakkahō (赤火砲)
  • Hadō #33 – Sōkatsui (蒼火墜)
  • Hadō #54 – Haien (廃炎)
  • Hadō #63 – Raikōhō (雷吼砲)
  • Bakudō #1 – Sai (塞)
  • Bakudō #4 – Hainawa (這縄)
  • Bakudō #8 – Seki (斥)
  • Bakudō #9 – Geki (撃)
  • Bakudō #26 – Kyokkō (曲光)
  • Bakudō #30 – Shitotsu Sansen (嘴突三閃)
  • Bakudō #37 – Tsuriboshi (吊星)
  • Bakudō #39 – Enkōsen (円閘扇)
  • Bakudō #58 – Kakushitsuijaku (隠密翅雀)
  • Bakudō #61 – Rikujōkōrō (六杖光牢)
  • Bakudō #62 – Hyapporankan (百歩欄干)
  • Bakudō #73 – Tōzanshō (倒山晶)
  • Bakudō #81 – Dankū (断空)

Zanjutsu: Expert
Seimei’s skill in the art of the sword is defined by precision, positional efficiency and acuteness instead of wild swings and brute aggression. He prefers wasteless movements, controlled and meaningful attacks that are meant to disrupt an opponents’ flow of battle, be it defense or offense, rather that fighting to overwhelm his foes. His way of fighting relies heavily on feints, positioning, fake cuts, and false entries—constantly keeping his opponents’ on their toes while utilizing his Hohō to maximize the effect.

In terms of defense, Seimei utilizes a strong and a tight guard and is very skilled at parrying and redirecting opposing strikes. He often tends to use the brief moments of blade contact to reposition or to couple his exchange with the threat of Kidō or Hohō. While he doesn’t exel in clashes of brute forcr, his calculated use of his Zanpakutō in close combat fits in seamlessly with his broader repertoire of combat skills. When coupled with his Zanpakutō’s memory-altering capablities, his immensely deliberate approach becomes immensely dangerous.

Unknown Illness:
During the past few months, Seimei has experienced mild pneumonia-like symptoms that emerge sporadically and may come and go—he may experience the symptoms for a day until they disappear and won't bother him for weeks until the symptoms reemerge. He himself speculates that there is a possibility that the illness has something to do with his lineage and family, however he hasn't yet taken any strong actions to counter the symptoms and has utilized Kaidō to migitate the symptoms whenever they emerge. His father, however, began to worry greatly once the symptoms emerged and began praying for Mimihagi (ミミハギ, Mimihagi) to cure the illness of his son—a deity revered in the eastern outskirts of Rukongai.

In truth, the said deity is the Right Arm of Soul King himself. Seimei himself isn't a man of superstition but cold fact, and generally rejects the idea of prayers being a meaningful help considering that his illness is mild at this point in time. However, he has considered getting help from the skilled and well-versed medical personnel of the Fourth Division (四番隊, Yonbantai)

Zanpakutō Name:
Mugenrō (夢幻牢, “Dream Phantom-Prison”)

Zanpakutō Spirit
Mugenrō’s spirit appears as an old, even ancient Onmyōji sorceror who is dressed in layered, traditional ceremonial robes that are adorned with fading ofuda and ritualstic symbols and sigils. His face is obscured by a seemingly cracked, white mask that bears a singlular eye hole beneath which the gaze of the ancient sorceror remains unwavering and even unsettlingly aware. The spirit carries no weapons or tools, and spends his time carving statues out of wood and stone. His voice sounds ancient and crackling, echoing age and mysticism of old ages that no one remembers. He speaks sparingly, however always with respect and his behavior is never hostile or benelovent but absolute and calm in every manner.

Seimei's relationship with the spirit is one of respect and mutual appreciation of character, both of them acknowledging each other as one and the same in a sense. Despite such, the old spirit still offers less words and more ritualistic gestures and invocations towards Seimei—his communication still being rather cryptic to the Shinigami, perhaps being one of the reasons why Seimei hasn't been able to achieve Bankai.

Zanpakutō Inner World
The inner world of Kagegiri appears as a vast temple hall that is suspended in constant darkness, with the temple floor being engraved with spiritual seals and talisman markings all about. Faint chanting and bell rings echo through the hall constantly, though the sources of these sounds are never visible and shrouded by the dark shades of the domain. Sound and words behave unnaturally within this domain, arriving delayed, disrupted or distorted—reinforcing the instability of cognition and recall. As such, the inner world is a physical embodiment of the blade's nature—memory and cognitive functions are but fragile constructs that can be erased to nothingness and shrouded in darkness.

Sealed Zanpakutō Description
In its sealed form, Mugenrō appears as a regular katana with a black sheath covered with leather. The oval tsuba appears simple, while there are beautiful and nearly invisible seam-like engravings across the blade itself. Seimei keeps it in a pristine condition as a way to show gratitude and respect towards his Zanpakutō.

Zanpakutō Release Command:

”Forget.” (忘れろ, Wasure-ro)

The release command for Mugenrō’s Shikai is ”Forget” (忘れろ, Wasure-ro). Upon release, the blade doesn't change form drastically nor does Seimei's Reiatsu seem to spike, lacking any dramatics. It is subtle, almost invisible compared to most Shikai. Instead, a small ritualistic bell manifests itself at the end of the blades' hilt which hangs by a short cord of dark silk-like material. The bell emits a constant soft, low-frequency chime reminiscent of a Onmyōji rite. It persists for as long as the Zanpakutō remains active and it acts as the auditory anchor of its abilities.

Shikai Special Ability
Kioku Enkaku (記憶遠隔, “Memory Displacement”)

Mugenrō is a highly powerful and a specialized illusion-type Zanpakutō that enables Seimei to temporarily displace or rather sever a target's access to specific memories related to spiritual and or combat related functions and skills, therefore instead of outright removing ones' memory it simply blocks ones' ability to recall how to access that said skill, memory or a function. Unlike your typical illusionary Zanpakutō, the ability doesn't outright play on overriding ones' senses but manipulates perception, judgement and memory access ultimately. For the ability to work Seimei must present carefully crafted deceptions that rely on the opponents' assumptions and reaction to truly take effect. Upon the first ring of the bell, Seimei utilizes the Zanpakutō to craft a near-perfect illusionary presence or a spatial echo—it can be an afterimage of himself, an image of a Menos, another Shinigami or anything that Seimei himself can conceptualize, imagine and understand, be it a figure or a plausible environmental structure or a phenomenon. These images in themselves replicate a Reiatsu signature in a way where it could well fool ones spiritual perception, however they do not speak, attack or act independently. As such, the images only act as a form of invitation and must be carefully crafted in order to work. Mugenrō's true ability is triggered once the target chooses to act upon the illusionary image or construct, either by attacking them or even as much speaking to them—validating the existence of the illusion is enough. When this condition is met, the bell rings' again, singing a sharper note than before.

When this condition is met, the ability enables Seimei to target any specific skill that the target may demonstrate, be it a Zanpakutō release phrase, a Kidō incantation or broader skills such as the ability to use Hohō, Sonido or anything of the sort—the nature of the targeted skill being entirely up to him. However, he must be at least be aware of what sort of a skill or memory he is blocking, therefore in some instances he has to wait and see what skills his opponent uses in order to remove it. He can activate the effect even when his opponents are in amidst of casting techniques as well, effectively canceling a technique before it is released, cast or used in full effect. It’s enough if he, for example, acknowledges that the target can release their Zanpakutō or can use a certain technique, therefore it is especially effective against opponents he has general experience against, such as Shinigami, Hollows and Arrancar. Mugenrō also enables Seimei to prevent his opponents from relearning their skill while under the effect of its ability.

As Mugenrō merely fools the opponent into forgetting or rather being incapable of accessing their abilities, it isn’t without its weaknesses. Most notably, if the sound of the bell is significantly dampened, the effect of illusion is severely weaknened and can be cancelled. The ability has a specific operational range as well. Despite the target possibly hearning the bell’s ring, the effect can only be triggered within a specific radius. Therefore, if the target position themselves far enough from the area of effect before the technique is triggered, they may avoid it.

Mugenrō: Kioku Fūsa (無限牢・記憶封鎖, “Infinite Prison: Memory Lock”)
After the ability-specific conditions are met, Seimei is capable of using this technique in order to remove a target's ability to access a variety of their skills, traits or techniques: be it a Zanpakutō release phrase, a Kidō incantation or a casting method, a Schrift, Resurrección trigger, high-speed movement techniques or anything in between. While the target retains the knowledge of having these techniques, they are simply fooled into being inable to access those abilities. And while under the effect of Kioku Fūsa, the target is also unable to relearn or retrain the sealed skill through repetition or trial while under the effect of the Shikai for as long as the duration period is active. Seimei is capable of switching between various techniques or functions of a target, however the current effect must have been active for at least one post.

Mugenrō: Chūdantsu (無限牢・中断, “Infinite Prison: Interruption”)
Interruption is a reactive application of the Shikai special ability. If the target is in the middle of casting a specific technique, be it a Kidō spell, a Zanpakutō release or anything that Seimei becomes aware of, he can interrupt the technique by placing them under the effect of the Shikai and effectively cancel it from coming to fruition. In a sense, it severs the target's access to relevant memory functions regarding the technique and foils it's ultimate activation. However, the ability can not retroactively negate completed techniques or effects.

Relationships:
Yuto Togami: Seimei and Yuto have formed somewhat of a sibling-like dynamic due to Seimei’s surprising urge to protect his less sociable friend, something he hadn't thought he'd feel for any single Shinigami or soul in Seireitei. Ishikawa took him under his wing when Yuto first entered the barracks of the 10th Division and has kept him close ever since, acting as his "older brother" if one may.

- Seimei enjoys playing Shōgi and reading books from the World of the Living
- Long walks in any part of Seireitei
Dislikes:
- Inconsiderate action
- Ignorance
Favourite Foods:
- Game meat skewers
- Grilled salmon

Personality
Rokka is a rather illusive individual, caught deep within his duty and rarely leaving time for much else. Some have noted he even manages to avoid sleeping as much as possible to allow for the most time spent doing what needs to be done. His whole existence is driven by attention to detail, promptness, and unwavering dedication to whatever he sets his sights on. Though many would equate this to some deep seated motivation or to someone who has the aspirations for greatness - that is not what motivates Rokka. He is a nihilist, believing that in the end nothing truly matters. It may take eons but what is known now will fade to black. That being said, that means the moment is all the more important because that future is without defined meaning. So he spends all of his time optimizing what can be done here and now, racing against the dreadful void that awaits everyone.

Born into a prestigious family, he has well groomed manners, respect for authority, and knowledge of the politics of noble families, the Gotei 13, and the denizens of the Rukongai. He had dedicated much of his upbringing to learning how things work, what makes people tick, and the very lengths people are willing to go to see their goals met.

He tries not to allow himself to feel extreme emotions towards others, finding sensations such as love and hate to be often troublesome. This does not remove any fondness he may have for those he considers allies or friends, but at the end of the day he can foresee himself pushing beyond familiar bonds to get things done. This lack of attachment allows him to stay as unbiased as needed and on a clear road that he needs to walk, even when decisions become difficult.

Reiryoku Level:
High Spirit Class: Four ——— Reiryoku Control: Expert

Rokka has a considerable amount of reiryoku and the means to control it well. He had always had a decent bit of spiritual power but further grew with his efforts over time. The direction given to him by not only his instructors at the academy but also his own family aided in his grasp on his own power. The very thread that pulled him forward was always there, guided by those around him, and by his internal monologue for how he'd most enjoy contributing to the world around him. His reserves and hold on his power gifts him with the boon of physical augmentation, fuel for his abilities, and allow him to bestow life to spells.

Rokka has managed to gain a rather impressive balance within himself, managing to make every drop of his essence span a mile. He can keep pace with most souls in a prolonged battle by optimizing his output. This proficiency is a merger of consistent practice - as well as a deep seated inner balance. His very soul is light and his mind is clear, allowing for true focus.

Reiatsu Effect: Fear
The weak tremble from the existential dread of their meaningless existence.

Spiritual Awareness

Where he is not perfect in his spiritual perception, Rokka can still discern and detail presences over rather considerable distances. He can even notice small changes in these states of power that may indicate intent. This is partially due to his familiarity with this brand of perceiving but also just deduction based on external components. Contributing factors such as body language, the amount of spiritual energy, the way others in proximity are utilizing their power, etc - can all be used to further enhance his understanding in a moment. Rokka can understand changes in actions as well, driven by that expression of spiritual power. This aids him in adapting attacks and exploiting weaknesses of opponents.

Zanjutsu Level: Expert | Hoho Level: Journeyman

Rokka's greatest strength combatively is his usage of a blade. He grew up diligently training with an assortment of bladed weapons in deep preparation for potentially one day needing to use them. From a young age he was on track to becoming a shinigami and to that end, he sought direction from established connections of his family to be prepared for the inevitable frontline.

In tandem with this training, he worked on his footwork and reflexes to create a harmonious link between his actions in the heat of battle. His sword ready to cut down any threat and his stride capable of closing or creating gaps.

He has developed the ability to not only operate with his preferred hand, but also effectively utilize his weapon with the other. The same can be said for his training of Hohō, his practice of this art came with the addition of working under handicaps. To this end, he practiced with weights, injuries, or even under the influence of alcohol.

Known Zanjutsu Techniques: Ryōdan | Agitowari | Hitotsume: Nadegiri | Senmaioroshi |
Known Hoho Techniques: Utsusemi

Hakuda Level:
Journeyman | Kidō Skill Level: Novice

With the intention of simply aiding in dealing a killing blow with his weapon, Rokka familiarized himself rather well with martial arts and also some basic-level Kidō. In both instances he learned whatever would further compliment his already existing expertise in zanjutsu. When it comes to Hakuda, he favors takedowns, redirections, and grapples over raw outwardly devasting strikes. His already sculpted physique from his other training aided in the success of these actions.

In the realm of spells, he spent less time on these techniques, opting to learn the basics for the time being. The reasoning behind this honestly comes down mostly to time constraints, choosing to lock in on the physical skills, his Zanpakuto, and overall tactical decision making. Though he knows that in the future, expanding his repertoire could open new possibilities and synergies.

Equipment: Gigai (義骸, Faux Body) | Kan (, Ring) | Denreishinki (伝令神機, Divine Messenger Machine)

Tsuzuri-Kugi (綴釘, Binding Nail) - A specially commissioned tool that Rokka requested of the Twelfth. These are special nails that when activated and struck they lock whatever is pinned by these nails to become 'stitched' together with the object they are connected with. They work better when connecting objects and beings comprised of Reishi rather than Kishi, but can be used on the latter with halved effectiveness. Forceful removal of a Tsuzuri-Kugi will result in considerable damages to both of the tied objects/individuals.

Reiatsu Concealing Cloak - A large cloak that functionally obscures the spiritual presence of the individual wearing it.

Zanpakutō: Kūkyō (空鏡, Empty Mirror)

Zanpakutō Spirit
d13caa7d0193751ef006fb0619b51088.png
Kūkyō is the voice in the dark, a being of inevitability, the very representation of nothingness. Their only purpose is to give others a glimpse of the cold future that awaits them - oblivion. The earliest interactions with their counterpart, Rokka, were actually that of surprise.

This shared outlook created a bond of sorts between the pair, one that was strong but mysterious. Kūkyō has exhibited the ability to freely manifest itself, often displaying a bit more malicious of a side of the encroaching nothingness. They believe that their wielder is worthy of their true name already, but wants to witness true despair before humoring the shinigami.

Their inner world is an infinitely black space with a subtle sound of chains rattling in the dark.

Shikai Release Phrase: Return to Nothingness (無に帰れ, Mu Ni Kaere)

Kūkyō in its released state causes the blade itself to disperse into nothingness - or at least it appears as so. A faint shimmering mist is left in its place, resembling the original blade but bearing with it no consistent visual. The blade does not disrupt airflow as it is swung and bears no sound with its actions, despite being able to physically connect with other things.

While released,
Kūkyō gains the ability of erasing the 'sense of self' from whatever it strikes or cuts. This power doesn't attack the physical but instead the very identity of its mark, robbing whatever it is of the influence its name or presence brings with it. A raging fire can have its heat neutralized, a spear could lose its ability to pierce, a spell could lose its function entirely. In the instance of it striking another living being, the weight of their own name would unravel. That which makes them specifically themselves would become shrouded as their connection to themselves and maybe even aspects of their powers become etched out. This wouldn't necessarily remove that which is worked into muscle memory but it would consume that which relies on their identity. The effect of Kūkyō is the very influence of the infinite void that everyone originates from and eventually returns to. Nothing has permanence. Everything and everyone will cease to bear any meaning and their history will erode with enough time.

The effect of this 'self' being washed away lingers for a time after the initial interaction, its return being gradual unless severed again. This erasure reaches itself back to the origin point, making successive attempts from its maker null as well - tasked to meet the void all the same - so long as the effect still remains.

Some may believe that Rokka had a rough upbringing due to his outlook on the future, but that isn't the case. He had love, money, attention, and even friends. His prestigious lineage granted him many benefits and that which may be defined as bleak never really touched him. Though that was the catalyst - for he looked upon the cycle of life and death that they existed within and found fruitlessness in it. An endless circle of memories and their inevitable collapse. That rebirth washing away all that made that person themselves and beginning something anew. It was beautiful on one hand, but miserable in another. This lead him down a rabbit hole of trying to find answers but often only finding the same tired responses.

This gave birth to his perspective and the birth of a nihilist. All in the end will return to silence. Yet even with that harrowing reality, he lives in the moment for what he can do now, as his future will not matter. To those around him, it appears as an odd kindness and something to aspire to imitate - unknowingly finding comfort in a twisted perception of the world.

Rokka dedicated decades training himself, body and mind for what he intended to do, deliver another absolute onto criminals. In the moment he could investigate, detain, and change the present for the better. Making the lives of those around him better for now, providing bliss while they can still enjoy it. This choice of course felt more justified than simply participating in the cycle of violence - as it just serves to recycle souls between the realms.

He has had the prospect of leading his family in the future waved before him, but could not be bothered to pursue that. It is likely inevitable that fate would fall upon him in time, but its by no means an aspiration - for him all that matters is the present.
