Nagarashi is a tall, youthful and handsome individual, standing at six feet five inches with a chiseled frame. It is obvious that the man looks after his wellbeing and has shaped his body so that it is fit for purpose. He has blue eyes, with a two-toned hair colour consisting of greyish-purple with a lavender undertone. Nagarashi’s hair is quite long, extending down his lower back. Often styled in different ways depending on his mood. Sometimes seen wearing various kinds of hair pieces such as Kenseikan among others. He sports a red scarf, a black mesh tank job under his Shihakusho with his chest area exposed. The sleeves of his kimono are three-quarter lengths, stopping above his forearm. The rest of his hand is covered by black (Tekko)fingerless gloves, which only covers the back of his hand extending up his forearm where it meets the sleeves of his kimono.
He sports a gold trimmed red waistband around his waist, in the same way as Shihoin Chika. It is further held in place by a white sash. The waistband is also used to house dagger-like blades and scalpels that can be used against the enemy. In addition to this, he wears a gold trimmed red cape that reaches the back of his knee. It is attached to his Kimono and was designed to remain in place during combat. It can of course be removed at his choosing. Nagarashi wears a black pleated Hakama as does most Shinigami with white socks and black sandals. His Zanpakuto is either worn on his hip or slung diagonally across his lower back.
Personality:
Nagarashi is a complex individual, caught between his carefree nature and his duties as a member of a noble family. He cherishes the ability to do as he pleases whenever he pleases. A rebellious spirit caught between honour and duty while operating as a member of the Gotei thirteen. Nagarashi is known for being headstrong, with a need to do things his way. Preferring to be left to his own devices, rejecting others who would seek to rule over him. Given the opportunity he can be demeaning towards his enemy and colleagues alike. Some may even deem him to be outright rude and obnoxious, both overtly and covertly. While a master at Kaido, he doesn’t carry out his duties with enthusiasm or tenderness. Not unless he has a hidden agenda or has some unvoiced feelings towards another. Instead, he heals because it's his duty and he does it very well, one of the very best at it.
Nagarashi does this effortlessly, but not opposed to seeing a bad patient perish. Being a healer can have some unfortunate consequences to certain patients. As Nagarashi may elect to watch them die instead of wasting his energy to save the unworthy. He despises incompetence and will not accept it from himself or others.
Known for making snide comments, and can be brutally honest when needed. The man has a fiery temper but does well to keep himself in check. Nagarashi knows that he could blow a fuse at any time, which means someone who should be a healer becomes a destroyer. He has his moments of tranquillity. Wherein even if the world was on fire he wouldn’t care to pour water on it. Not until he was satisfied or felt it was time. He believes everyone should serve a purpose and if you’re lacking. Then you either find said purpose or perish. Nagarashi is a fierce competitor, brutal and unforgiving like a blazing inferno. Quick to size up the enemy, assess the situation and move accordingly. He also has a more welcoming and playful side, which may catch others completely off guard.
He can be stoic and reserved, often indulging in a lack of empathy towards others.
But don’t be fooled, or one may have to suffer his wrath. Nagarashi holds grudges, always remembering those who may have wronged him. Happy to play the long game if it means getting his just revenge against those persons. He dislikes bullies and will happily repay them in kind. A flawed person at times, hard working, filled with determination and grit. His spirit is unyielding, and even when his light may have dimmed, he can have his flames burn bright again through sheer will.
Reiryoku Level & Spirit Class: Great- 3
While being born into nobility is most times beneficial towards one’s Reiryoku levels. Nagarashi saw fit to appreciate the head start and continued to build on it. At a very young age he was dubbed a child prodigy, demonstrating very high spiritual pressure even as a whippersnapper. Possessing high levels of Reiryoku which could be exerted as high spiritual pressure wasn’t enough. The youngster at the time wanted to push himself to the limit and beyond that. His goal was to be stronger than those who came before him. And at a bare minimum be mentioned in the same breath as them. Nagarashi set out on a personal journey, always seeking out new challenges. He wanted to emulate the strongest of them all, be it Shinigami, Hollow or otherwise.
He admired strength and held great strength in high regard. As such, those possessing Reiryoku higher than his own were the standard. Nagarashi sought favour from those stronger than he was. Challenging anyone stronger than him that would give him the time of day. It was a daily grind for Nagarashi, showing a great deal of dedication to grow stronger.
Simply put, training alone wasn’t enough for Nagarashi. The Kuchiki believed true growth could only be found in life threatening situations if he ever hoped to push himself beyond his limits. Lounging in the family manor wasn’t going to bring him closer to his goal. Nagarashi used his time with his peers wisely, training everyday going back and forth in sparring sessions. The only stipulation was that his sparring partners went full force against him. He was battered by their overwhelming spiritual pressure, suffocating him until his body shook and buckled. He was often brought to his knees, yet like an unyielding flame, he refused to be extinguished.
In time he learned to resist, he soon learned how to move with freedom. He soon learned how to breathe and withstand pressure being exerted by those with higher Reiryoku levels. His natural reserves grew and his natural talent shone through.
His overwhelming desire to grow stronger brought his rebellious nature to the forefront. He refused to play by the rules, as it was seen as shackles. A means to quell the flames that were raging within him. Nagarashi decided to take himself into the deepest and roughest corners of the Rukongai. There he sought out the toughest and most merciless of criminals. Those possessing strength capable of rivalling the Captains of the Gotei. They possessed Reiryoku levels that were ideal for testing Nagarashi and pushed him beyond his limits. Only this time he was playing for keeps, his life was actually on the line. He knew what it felt like to experience fear and the joy of combat all at once.
The rebellious brat challenged any and everyone he deemed worthy as an opponent. Many battles were fought and many injuries occurred and at times he had more than a few near death experiences. And every time he could feel a change within himself. His Reiryoku levels were no longer just high, he now boasted great spiritual power. Nagarashi was far from settling or resting on his laurels, this level of power just wasn’t enough. He grew even more selfish with an unhealthy obsession for power. Before long he was becoming just like the criminals he sought out. A true ruffian who brought shame to his family. He became their black sheep, a leper living on the fringes.
Nagarashi wasn’t concerned with impressing his family and other nobles. Far too focused on achieving his goals. Nagarashi spent years assimilating himself within the criminal organizations that plagued the area. He killed without mercy and while he faced off against countless powerful opponents. Their strength grew stagnant compared to his that was ever evolving alongside his Reiryoku. The battles became boring as the challenges were no longer seen as a detriment to his own wellbeing. Nagarashi the rebel struggled to find opponents that were worthy enough. Around this time he was forcefully returned to his place among his family. He had certain responsibilities and while he hated it, he understood it and knew that he had a part to play.
This led him to joining the 5th division for his own personal gain. While serving as a member of the Gotei 13, it was only right that the Gotei squads also served him. He was drawn to the 5th division due to its many excursions to Hueco Muno. The home of the Hollows would present countless opportunities for him to continue growing in strength. Nagarashi soon found himself within the deepest and darkest depths of Hueco Mundo on a mission. He signed up for it knowing that his life would be in imminent danger. This did not stop him from signing up, since to Nagarashi this is exactly what he wanted. Said mission led to battles against hollows with varying degrees of power. Until one fateful night when Nagarashi was confronted by a level of power he did not expect. He surmised that this opponent was a fabled Vasto Lorde level Hollow (Arrancar). It was at this time that Nagarashi came to appreciate the strength that he spent so much time building up. His connection and bond with his Zanpakuto were now much stronger than before.
Nagarashi fought with everything he had while sustaining grave injuries. He was pushed to the brink and beyond which only served to fuel the flames within him. He had many other battles of a similar nature and each battle only served to solidify his power. He was no longer just a whippersnapper, he was respected, he was feared and was seen as a symbol of strength. This was shown in his physical and spiritual capabilities. Capable of toppling gigantic structures with just his raw strength alone. A swing of his sword was enough to cut cleanly through the toughest defences, whether it be hiero among other things. He became a monster in his own right. He learned how to exert his Reiryoku in the form of spiritual pressure for both attack and defense. Capable of not only successfully attacking but also defending himself. Nagarashi’s power is deceptive to those who may encounter him, as he often comes across as unassuming. His Reiatsu coats his body like armour, rebuffing attackers and attacks that are not up to par to cause him harm.
Reiryoku Control: Master
At every step that Nagarashi took to grow his strength, he recognized that having mastery over his power was a necessity. Why have power if you don't know how to control it? Such a concept was ridiculous and unwelcomed in the eyes of Nagarashi. He took a great deal of time mastering his Reiryoku, finding new ways to make use of it. One such way is using his control over his Reiryoku to enhance his physical capabilities. His speed, agility, physicality are just mere examples. Over the years Nagarashi spent time honing his Reiryoku and by extension mastering its usage. It was automatic to him, as it became so refined that while others were left in awe, it was as easy as breathing to him. Casting kido spells at full power and without incantation became normal where others might struggle. He was a prodigy and made sure to live up to said praise. Nagarashi was far too prideful to be deemed lacking in control.
He fought hard to reach a certain level of power and he wouldn’t waste a drop. His use of his Reiryoku was precise, and any task requiring his Reiryoku was carefully given the right amount. Low level kido spells cast by Nagarashi were not to be underestimated. Mastering his Reiryoku means that he will often deceive others as to his true level of power. Hiding its levels intentionally as to not cause alarm among his peers or unsuspecting prey. It is this mastery that has made it far easier to learn and master healing techniques. Nagarashi take’s great care and pride in his abilities, learning not only Hado and Bakudo spells but also the intricacies of Kaido and its mechanics.
Reiatsu Description and Effect(s):
Nagarashi’s Reiatsu is elemental in nature when exerted, it is explosive, encompassing the area around him and others in extreme heat. It blazes with pride and fury, scorching the skies and setting things ablaze. It is like a supernova at times, shining bright to the point where it becomes blinding to others. And yet this is seen as normal and a non- hindrance to Nagarashi. His Reiatsu takes the form of a phoenix ready to set the world on fire. It is normally yellow in colour taking on different shades of yellow depending on his mood. Nagarashi’s Reiatsu affects his foes by causing their bodies to feel as if it's on fire. It feels unrelenting as if laced with nothing but malice and contempt towards those in opposion.
Reikaku:
Nagarashi’s capabilities with his Reikaku are on par with the best of them all. While he appreciates the differences between himself and others. He embraces the uniqueness of others which has pushed him to develop his Reikaku alongside them. Through practice, Nagarashi honed and refined his abilities. As such he could sense those possessing minimal levels of Reiryoku. During those days of his rebellion against his duties, politics and exhaustion of being a noble. Nagarashi used his capabilities with his Reikaku to evade capture. He could tell the difference between the low level and powerful criminals of the Rukongai. This also helped in evading the numerous Shinigami that were sent to apprehend him. There was something a little different between a Shinigami and a citizen of the Rukongai. One was trained and the other was not, and while it wasn’t always the same for everyone.
It was easy enough for him to differentiate. Nagarashi could sniff out those with great power and those who may be hiding their true power. He could sense others over vast areas, following events based on fluctuations and spikes in one’s Reiatsu. This allowed him to stay well informed, almost as if he was there with them. This skill was also useful for his travels to Hueco Mundo. As he was able to pinpoint powerful Hollows, Adjuchas and Arrancars with relative ease. Sneaking up on him was always a difficult task, since he’s honed his Reikaku to its absolute pinnacle. Keeping track of the enemy in different situations comes natural to him, to the point where it’s effortless.
What good is having immense physical strength without understanding how to use it? Nagarashi made it his duty to get to grips with his own physical capabilities. He’s an accomplished hand to hand combatant, proving to be a very dangerous opponent when the need arises. He uses his strength and agility to land hard hitting blows on his opponents. His strength comes as a surprise to unsuspecting prey. Nagarashi employs the use of grapples, throwing, tossing, punches, kicks and solid headbutts to get the job done. He is versed in different forms of martial arts but may come across as rugged. He is double jointed, very flexible and capable of twisting his body and body parts in various ways. This gives him an advantage when it comes to hand to hand combat. He is a freak that would happily dislocate his shoulder if it meant freeing himself from the clutches of his opponent.
Nagarashi does this with the knowledge that he is capable of healing his own injuries. This makes him even more fearless. He’s picked up several techniques over the years from those even more versed than he is. A diligent and astute student who takes his craft seriously. He has an obsession with being the best at what he does. However, his Hakuda only ever reached a certain level of expertise. His use of techniques such as Ikkotsu and Sokutsu makes him formidable. Quite capable of shattering bones with a single hit. His kicks are just as fierce should he wishes them to be. It is not unheard of for him to tear limbs off, employing brutality with little care or regard for his opponent. This is seen when he utilizes Kagamibiraki, showing off his raw strength which can unnerve opponents. Nagarashi may also give a demonstration of his capabilities through the use of Tessho. A simple open palm strike that can be devastating when used by him.
At times Nagarashi may find himself dealing with unruly or unkind patients visiting the fourth division. He will oftentimes make use of the Oni Dekopin technique to deal with hooligans. To further demoralise ruffians, Nagarashi may at times use Tsukiyubi against them. He does this knowing that he has the capability to heal them afterwards. As such he is not too concerned with causing them harm if needed to teach a lesson. Should he be required to take combat seriously, then he will use these techniques with deadly force.
Known Techniques: Kagamibiraki, Ikkotsu, Sokutsu, Kazaguruma, Takigoi, Tsurigaki, Tsukiyubi, Oni Dekopin, Raioken, Tessho.
Hohō: Master
Despite his impressive strength, Nagarashi knew that he needed more than just raw power. This is something he accepted during the early stages of his development. He spent a great deal of time learning Shunpo with the intention of mastering the technique. Far more dedicated to learning and mastering Shunpo than he ever did Hakuda. Nagarashi was a natural at the technique when it comes to its usage. Capable of closing the gap between himself and his foe in a mere blink. His movements for those unequipped to deal with it were hard to follow. Coupled with his agility made him a formidable opponent. Nagarashi can travel across long distances in a short amount of time. Using less steps to travel further and much faster. Nagarashi honed his Shunpo to be on par with the fastest of them all. He is comfortable competing with fellow Shunpo masters. Numerous battles against hollow kinds, especially Arrancars, forced him to continue improving.
Going up against Sonido on a regular basis meant that he had to be just as good if not better. One of his favourite techniques to use is Senka. Through use of his speed and sheer agility, Nagarashi can disarm his opponent by sealing their Saketsu and Hakusui in one fluid movement. He tends to use this to quickly dispatch the enemy or out of sheer spite. Nagarashi didn’t stop learning and mastering the use of Senka. His desires took him on a journey of discovery as he began learning more Shunpo related techniques. Speed clones were soon added to his bag of tricks and while he’s capable of creating up to fifteen indistinguishable clones of himself. Nagarashi uses the technique to trick his opponent by combining it with Senka. He does this by leaving a clone behind which mimics his movements and with enough Reiryoku to throw off his opponents senses. And while they’re preoccupied or distracted by the decoy, it would already be too late to react to their Saketsu and Hakusui being severed.
Speaking of decoys, Nagarashi enjoys the use of misdirection and giving his opponent a false sense of security. Making them think that their attack landed will oftentimes give him an opening. This is seen during his use of Utsutsemi. Nagarashi uses his blistering speed to deceive his opponent by leaving an afterimage behind. Regardless of his mastery of the technique and using different versions of Shunpo. Nagarashi is constantly seeking ways to further develop the technique. His mastery means nothing should he ever allow himself to become stagnant.
Known Techniques: Speed Clones, Utsutsemi, Senka
Kidō: Master
Kido is perhaps one of Nagarashi’s favourite arts due to its versatility. He had a love-hate relationship with it to begin, relying more so on his raw strength, Zanpakuto and speed. However, over time he realized that there was so much more to Kido than anything. Despite his natural prowess with the four known arts, Nagarashi spent a great deal of time as a ‘Journeyman’. Something changed as he began to get entangled in more battles. He then decided to dedicate years to learning more higher level Bakudo and Hado spells. Dabbling in barrier type spells also before completely losing himself in the kido arts.
Where his spells used to lack in potency and would oftentimes require an incantation. Nagarashi developed his use of kido where he could now forgo the incantation while maintaining its potency. This is known as Eishohaki to the initiated which was a clear sign of his improvement. Nagarashi used his masterful control of his Reiryoku to his advantage, capable of making low level spells very potent. One can see this in his use of low level spells such Hado 31 or Hado 4, where they're more devastating compared to the norm. He wasn’t about to stop there, since now that he had a taste for it. His appetite became insatiable as he sought to develop his kido even further. It took him in the direction of Kojutsu Eisho. Nagarashi’s spells were potent without incantation so being able to add the incantation made them even more powerful. Nagarashi will often use Bakudo such as Bakudo 61 and strengthen after it was originally cast.
He was happy to catch the enemy off guard by utilizing this art against those unknown to him. This was another sign of improvement which caused others to acknowledge his talent. Despite being dubbed a prodigy, he had to show everyone that he deserved to be referred to as such. His ego would not allow him to slack off and be satisfied as an expert of the art. Nagarashi’s goal was to master the kido arts so that he may add it to his arsenal. As he began learning higher level spells of different kinds. He made sure to make use of them in battle, testing his capabilities and the practicality behind each spell that he learned. He spent years developing his kido and despite the adoration given to him as a prodigy.
Nagarashi had to take his talents seriously and spent a great deal of time honing and refining his skills. Making sure to lead by example even when he was being rebellious. On he went, trying out a mixture of different things. Before long he was dabbling with Niju Eisho by combining two incantations into one. This way he could deceive his opponents by casting two spells at once. One can expect him to use numerous combinations consisting of Bakudo 61 and Hado 88. Binding his opponent and destroying them while they're unable to move. His masterful and potent Reiryoku levels meant that both spells remained effective. Capable of creating devastating combos and really getting creative. His desire for creativity and being different meant that he continued to learn and develop new spells. Often revisiting spells already mastered to invent new ways to utilize them.
Nagarashi took an interest in barrier and sealing spells after seeing their potential. As such he started to learn and develop spells within this category, which helped him to add even more to his arsenal. One such spell being Torii Enkiri among others that are effective against the enemy.
His biggest challenge which came as a surprise to him was Kaido. Learning healing kido was his penance but it also went hand in hand with discovering even more about himself and his Zanpakuto. No longer was it merely about destruction and subduing the enemy. Nagarashi had to now show compassion backed with a bit of ego. Learning and mastering the use of Kaido took longer than other forms of kido. The internal strife made it all the more difficult, but the benefits were worth it. Not only could he heal his allies and save lives. It also meant that he could fight for longer, being the more likely winner in a war of attrition. Capable of healing grievous injuries to himself and friends alike, closing wounds in and outside of battle.

Name: Torii Enkiri Archway of Severing Connections
Incantation:
O sacred threshold, crimson gate of the divine. Sever the ties of the profane, break all bonds that seek passage.
Description:
A defensive Bakudo/barrier spell that manifests a series of floating crimson torii gates in a protective formation around the caster or an ally. When an incoming attack—spiritual or physical—strikes one of the gates, the energy is drawn inward, vanishing for an instant before erupting outward from a different gate in a redirected trajectory. Each gate acts as a transient conduit between points in space, allowing Nagarashi to deflect incoming assaults rather than absorb or nullify them outright. Once a torii redirects an attack, it shatters into fragments of red Reiryoku, dispersing harmlessly into the air. The spell ends when all gates have been used.
Zanjutsu:
Nagarashi made it his mission to be one of the best at Zanjutsu. He has great respect for the art and has dedicated a great deal of time into reaching its peak. Adapts to the principles of Kendo, the way of the sword and its branches. Nagarashi sought out those that are renowned Zanjutsu masters and practiced under their tutelage. Even when he would seek out constant fights in an effort to grow stronger. Those principles were never forgotten and so he continued to build on it. Nagarashi started off with the very basics and that was swinging his sword repeatedly. The purpose of which was to improve his speed, power, muscle memory and focus. Part of his training and conditioning for battle saw him engage in something basic but necessary. The art of a “Byūtifuru Chanbara) Beautiful Sword fight”. This helped with his concentration, reaction speed, agility and physical capabilities. Nagarashi wasn’t just swinging a sword, he learned how to attack and defend at the same time. Making it rather difficult to breach his defenses in a head to head sword fight. This was practiced repeatedly and against those who were better than he was at the time. This carried on until he was accomplished at fighting in such a way. Through it he could find openings while also defending.
Sticking by the principles of Kendo, while fully capable of wielding his sword with only one hand. Nagarashi appreciated the difference in power that wielding it with both hands brought. This was the start of his journey on mastering Ryodan (Bisection). A simple but most effective technique. This suited someone like Nagarashi who possessed freakish strength that was almost unrivalled. His stature made his power very deceptive but he was still a long way off. He continued working on improving the effectiveness of using Ryodan. Alongside working on Ryodan, Nagarashi learned different sword techniques along the way. One of which is Agitowari (Chin/Jaw Splitting). A technique Nagarashi was ready to use against just about any opponent. He however found it very useful when dealing with hollows that towered over him in size. His precision, power, speed and decisiveness made this one of his most fundamental techniques. Employing it at the opportune time to end the battle as soon as possible. Again, he never stopped working on improving his use of a double handed grip strike (Ryodan).
Nagarashi recognizes that there are times where a mere warning is not enough to deter fools. It was necessary to add in killing intent in order to coerce opponents into standing down. Shitonegaeshi (Cushion Return) was one such means of accomplishing this. Nagarashi uses this simple but effective technique in various situations where it's not necessary to kill. His killing intent becomes so overwhelming that an opponent can become subdued and immobilized by being in close proximity to the tip of his blade. Whether they are laid out on the ground, on their knees or standing, it’s all the same to Nagarashi. The tip of his sword millimeters away from their face is enough to get the “point” across. While all of these techniques were being learned and mastered, Nagarashi maintained his relentless practice sessions around Ryodan. In between all this, he learned another technique that he deemed to be simple but effective in its use. Onibi (Oni Fire) was used against many opponents to devastating effect. Blowing holes through his opponents before they even realized what had happened. A thing of beauty as a mere thrust done with speed, power and precision can be filled with horror.
On his journey to mastering Zanjtsu, Nagarashi developed a fondness towards simple but effective sword strikes. He finds that those are more demoralising to would be opponents compared to techniques requiring more theatrics. This is why he is rather fond of Hitotsume: Nadegiri -The First: Killing Stroke. In those instances where he wants to mow down his opponent. Nagarashi uses his superior speed, power and precision to deliver a strike of extreme force. With this he was able to cut down giants and regular sized opponents alike. With this technique he is capable of drawing his blade and cutting the opponent down before they have time to react. In those instances Nagarashi wishes to show he is capable of fighting in different ways. He will use techniques such as Senmaioroshi Thousandfold Grating , and find it to be a sure way for multiple opponents to rethink the notion of attacking him. His demeanour can go from calm to sadistic in his take down of the enemy. As his journey of mastery continued, Nagarashi finally reached that stage where his use of Ryodan was at its pinnacle. His muscle strength is ridiculous and as such his cutting power is devastating. His bisection technique contained so much power behind it that it was terrifying coming from someone like Nagarashi. Often leaving the enemy with more questions than answers. In addition to this Nagarashi continued to add more techniques to his repertoire.
Known Techniques: Agitowari, Hitotsume: Nadegiri, Ryodan, Senmaioroshi Thousandfold Grating, Suikawari , Onibi,
Beautiful Swordfight,
Shitonegaeshi.
Immense Strength:
Nagarashi is deceptively and freakishly strong, something which is unheard of for someone of his physical stature. He is far from a hulk of a warrior but his well toned and trained body gets the job done. His immense strength is a weapon for sure, making him dangerous whether it's hand to hand or sword based combat. Capable of toppling gigantic structures and opponents with just his raw strength alone. A swing of his sword is enough to cut cleanly through the toughest or hardest defences, whether it be hiero and others things similar. He adapts to the situation, adjusting his power output depending on the opponent. Nagarashi’s kicks and punches are hard enough to break bones. His grappling strength can be crippling to the enemy. Known for throwing or hurling the enemy over great distances. He employs the use of his Reiryoku and his masterful control, with a combination of his great physical power. Sword clashes see his opponents rebuffed with minimal effort. Can create powerful shock waves with a swing of his sword, sending the enemy flying while causing them harm. He doesn’t waste his energy, he is instead precise about everything that he does.
Enhanced Speed and Reflexes:
Many are left amazed at Nagarashi’s speed and reflexes without the use of Shunpo. Known for his quick reactions and speed of movement. Nagarashi’s body and senses are heightened, so that even a sure hit may not land as expected. He is a very agile combatant, and using his speed and reflexes he can get out of a bind with little effort. This all seems to come natural to him, however he only ever reached this level due to countless years spent training and honing his body. As such he is able to defend himself or to even escape the clutches of death. Nagarashi doesn’t just rely on his enhanced speed and reflexes for defending himself. The speed of his strikes whether it's Hakuda or swordsmanship makes him a formidable foe. His speed of movement can deceive others as he utilizes sleight of hand to catch his opponents off guard. Extremely accurate in both offense and defense. Capable of landing strikes before the opponent has time to react or comprehend what has happened.
Enhanced Durability:
While it pays to have great attacking prowess, Nagarashi appreciates having a good defence just the same. In the time spent dishing out pain, he also learned how to endure pain and overtime became resilient. Nagarashi is capable of taking a great deal of punishment, only to spring back up seemingly unfazed. His durability can be menacing and disheartening to the enemy. Capable of taking point blank hits and somehow remaining unmoved.
Master Healer:
Kaido was originally the bane of his existence but through sheer determination, Nagarashi was able to get to grips with it. Not only was he learning and mastering Kaido, Nagarashi also dedicated time to learning more about anatomy. He became knowledgeable and an expert in health related matters. Capable of giving a diagnosis through observation or even after a quick examination. Nagarashi developed his talents to the point where is he capable of dealing with minor and life threatening injuries. Techniques such as
Goyōgai (五養蓋,
Five Support Cover) is used by him to hold off death from mortal injuries or to prevent other conditions from worsening. On the flip side, being knowledgeable of anatomy, Nagarashi uses it to his advantage in battle situations. He uses anaesthesia's that are fast acting and very potent to affect the enemy. Although techniques such as
Inemuri (威眠,
Forced Slumber) is more useful against regular patients.
Nagarashi’s Kaido manifests as emerald-green flames that radiate a calm, regenerative warmth. Despite their fiery appearance, these flames do not burn; they embody life energy given form, guiding Reiryoku to mend tissue, seal wounds, and realign spiritual pathways. His healing is a precise balance of control, focus, and spiritual empathy. Something which is seen as surprising for someone like him due to his persona. The flames flow across the patient’s body, dissolving into their skin to fuse Reiryoku directly into the wound. Through layered application, the outer flame soothes while inner embers stimulate regeneration. This process allows Nagarashi to treat injuries efficiently without destabilizing the patient’s spirit.
Minor injuries are closed instantly with no scarring. Moderate injuries are Fully healed within moments; leaves mild fatigue. Severe trauma is treatable with sustained concentration but not instantaneous. It is not beyond him to stabilize critical wounds but full recovery requires multiple sessions. Spiritual toxins/corruption is not beyond his capabilities. Nagarashi is able to purge low-to-moderate impurities though high-level afflictions may resist treatment or require far more effort depending on it's make up. Despite his sometimes blatant lack of empathy as a master healer. He has honed his abilities to support and heal multiple patients at the same time. He is astute enough to realize that sometimes completely healing all ailments and injuries is an impossible task. As such, one must instead aim to preserve life above everything else.

Shinigami Research and Development Institute.
Denreishinki: A vital tool for any Shinigami stationed in the Real World, this variation on a cell phone functions both as a regular phone and as a communication line with the Soul Society. It receives information about the time and exact location of a Hollow's emergence via
GPS. A Shinigami's kills are also recorded in the phone and can be used as currency (according to the bounty placed on each Hollow).
Gokon Tekkō: A glove which has a skull symbol on it, which can be used to force the soul out of a body.
Medical Supplies: Bandages, healing ointments, Syringes, Scalpel etc.
Zanpakutō Name: Kagutsuchi- Shining Force
Zanpakutō Spirit:
Kagutsuchi has two forms, a humanoid version and a non-human form that is majestic. Kagutsuchi's humanoid form is that of a tall male with long black hair. He has a muscular frame that he is quite proud of. Seen wearing an unbuttoned white shirt with black trimmings, that also acts as a crop top. His chest and abdominal areas remain exposed which is no doubt by design. He wears a pair of gold arm guards with red diamonds decorated all over them. The sleeves of his unbuttoned shirt is tucked into the arm guards, while leaving his hands bare. Around his waist is a red and gold high waistband and a white hakama. The non-human version of Kagutsuchi sees him takes the form of a legendary and mythical creature, the phoenix. In this form he is made up solely of flames of different shades. The phoenix form is also seen during Nagarashi's bankai release.
Kagutsuchi is hot headed and prideful, albeit a wise and head strong individual. He is similar to Nagarashi in ways and yet with some difference. Kagutsuchi has complete confidence in his abilities, to the point where Nagarashi sometimes views it as arrogance. He is merciless, looking to baptise all that stands before him in flames. And on the other hand, his arrogance has lead him to wanting dominion over life and death. Kagutsuchi views himself as a god, which is also a reflection of his name.
Zanpakutō Inner World:
Kagutsuchi's inner world is more or less a desolate wasteland filled with mountains and volcanos. The world itself seems to always be on fire and it is there that Kagutsuchi reigns. Can be seen sitting on a throne while everything burns around him. The skies appear to be on fire, the ground is filled with ash and burning embers.
Sealed Zanpakutō Description:
Kagutsuchi in its sealed form is a regular sized katana with no distinguishing features to its blade. The crossguard is in the shape of a pentagon, it is black in color with golden feathers woven into it. The tip of the pentagon shaped cross-guard is pointed in the same direction as the blade's edge. The hilt is predominantly red with black material wrapped around certain sections of the hilt. The butt is gold in color while the sheath is two-toned with a mixture of red and black.
Zanpakutō Release Phrase: Scorch the Skies
Shikai Appearance:
There are only a few minor changes from its sealed state to its Shikai form. The Shikai release sees the blade engulfed in flames of varying amounts. Often depending on Nagarashi’s current state and temperament. It is wreathed in crimson and gold-white living flames. This is in response to Kagutsuchi’s flames and their capabilities as ‘living flames’. The flames produced by Nagarashi’s Shikai pulse pulse and ripple along the blade like a semi-sentient entity reacting to the wielder’s intent. Depending on what Nagarashi is trying to accomplish the flames radiate with intense heat and brilliance, capable of temporarily blinding the enemy. The hilt now has a red tassel attached to the end of it. There are now five small holes running along the hilt.
Shikai Special Ability:
Kagutsuchi is a significant kami (god) in Japanese Shinto mythology, revered as the god of fire and volcanoes.
Kagutsuchi’s power is the creation, control and manipulation of fire/flames boasting intense heat while explosive in nature. These flames are said to be living due to their semi-autonomous and semi-sentient nature, that are an extension of the wielder. They can be used to form semi-solid constructs/shapes for offense and defense. Such shapes range from spikes, whips, barriers, claws, tendrils and other forms of weaponry. All of this is possible without the use of a specific technique. All the while remaining blindingly radiant and lethally hot. Amazingly, every swing, thrust or defensive movement naturally ignites the surrounding air producing shockwaves of searing heat. The flames are explosive on impact or can be directed to detonate freely.
On its release and use of its flames, they burn so bright that they become blinding to onlookers. The hotter the flames burn the brighter they become. This makes it difficult to fight against Nagarashi while having very poor visibility. Due to the nature of the flames, Nagarashi can extend or retract the flame constructs instantly. Flames also react instinctively to threats, moving to intercept projectiles or enemies within range. The reaction/actions of the semi-sentient flames depends on the situation at hand. Even if partially extinguished or blocked, Kagutsuchi’s flames reignite instantly demonstrating the sentient nature of the flames.
It goes without saying that the user is not harmed by their own flames.
Techniques:
Name: Nesaku- Root Splitter
Description:
Nesaku is the first Shikai technique taught to Nagarashi by Kagutsuchi. The technique uses trickery and savagery to execute the enemy. Upon invocation, Kagutsuchi’s flames condense into a radiant, elongated blade of searing fire, extending from Nagarashi’s sword up to seventy meters in length. The condensed flames burn with such intensity that they emit blinding light, warping visibility through heat haze and afterimages. With a thrust or swing, the primary blade fragments into as many as seven autonomous flame constructs, each resembling spectral swords of light and heat. These constructs attack from multiple directions, above, below, and the flanks while obscuring the opponent’s perception with false afterimages.
The result is an indistinguishable storm of genuine and illusory blades. The flame constructs display a degree of semi-sentience, adjusting their trajectories to intercept evasive maneuvers or exploit blind spots. They may curve, feint, or vanish mid-strike to further confound the target. The technique also possesses a unique safety mechanism. Nagarashi refers to this as the murder-suicide pack. Whereby the flames pass harmlessly through Nagarashi, ensuring that he remains unaffected by his own assault.
Name: Nokori Hanehi- Remnant Flame Feathers
Description:
Nokori Hanehi manifests as a torrent of phoenix feathers made of living flames that cascade from the blade or from Nagarashi’s own Reiatsu. Each feather glows with radiant fire, brilliant at the core with embers trailing off, resembling a burning flock swirling through the air. The feathers are too much to count and attempting such only serves as a distraction to the enemy. Nagarashi commands these feathers with precision, manipulating their movement at tremendous speeds. They are deceptively quick and unpredictable due to the nature of Nagarashi’s Shikai. The feathers are truly versatile in use as they can be gathered to use offensively and defensively. Forming barriers, wings or shields of flames to deflect attacks or to form into attack based constructs. By surrounding the enemy in a whirlwind of feathers, the heat intensifies as the feathers tighten, burning and constricting the enemy until they’re incinerated. The feathers are not only sharp, capable of cutting, slicing or piercing through the opponent.
They can also be triggered to violently combust on command or semi-autonomously due to its sentient nature. A barrage of feathers can create a chain of explosions or a concentrated cluster can form a devastating blast. Even if doused, the feathers can reignite themselves, embodying the immortal fire of the phoenix. The feathers can also emit a radiant golden-white blinding light, searing the eyes of anyone who looks at them, which allows Nagarashi to disrupt the battlefield. The flames are long, ember-streaked plumes, their edges glowing in molten yellows and deep crimson with trailing motes of fire as they move. When gathered in large numbers, they resemble a phoenix shedding a blazing wingbeat into the battlefield.
Bankai Name: Hino-Kagutsuchi- Earthen Tool of Fire
Bankai Description:
Hino-Kagutsuchi summons forth a giant phoenix made up of flames in the likeness of the ‘Sokyoku’ in its released state. The phoenix remains a constant throughout the duration of the Bankai and is controlled by the user. It has different shades of living fire flames which make up its body, ranging from orange, white, yellow and black. Its talons are orange in colour and are made of flames. Its long flowing tails follow the same colour scheme as the rest of its body. In addition to this, Nagarashi now has a pair of large wings made of fire. These wings can be used for flight and general combat while in its Bankai state. He has feathers of fire covering his garments all over, with his hair having sections covered in feathers. His motif is that of a phoenix. His Zanpakuto remains the same as its Shikai state.
Bankai Special Ability:
Kagutsuchi’s Bankai builds on its Shikai state but more intensified as anyone can imagine. The flames remain Semi-Sentient and also maintain its autonomous state. Nagarashi and the giant phoenix are in tune with each other, capable of independent attacks or more collaborative amplified attacks. The phoenix becomes his celestial reflection, moving in perfect synchronization with Nagarashi. Sustained by his Reiryoku, it is this shared spiritual flow which gives birth to "small scale and phoenix scale" attacks. To the enemy it's like fighting two versions of Nagarashi at once, the precise, deadly swordsman up close and the colossal flaming avatar looming above. Those with a keen eye may notice that Nagarashi never uses techniques such as Happo Zanshu, Iwasaku and Enten Yokai in conjunction with the phoenix. The flames of course carries the same capabilities of its Shikai just on a grander scale.
Techniques:
Name: Happo Zanshu- Eight Directions Beheading
Description:
Happo Zanshu manifests as eight ethereal arms of incandescent flame, each grasping a copy of Kagutsuchi’s blade wreathed in living fire. At the moment of activation, the weapons phase harmlessly through Nagarashi, but solidify around his opponent(s), leaving the target caught at the heart of the technique. The blades materialize without warning in eight distinct vectors, shoulders, thighs, midsection, spine, and head, cutting inward with burning precision. The flames sear with such intensity that steel and flesh alike are cleaved in the same motion. Victims struck are simultaneously burned and dismembered, their bodies overwhelmed by Kagutsuchi's judgement.
The Murder-Suicide principle is maintained so that the blades may phase harmlessly through Nagarashi or his phoenix avatar, ensuring he cannot be hindered by his own attack. The technique activates within the target’s immediate proximity, bypassing conventional evasive maneuvers. And with sufficient spiritual output, multiple enimies may be targeted simultaneously, each surrounded by their own circle of blades. The strike is designed not merely to wound but to annihilate. Even if blocked, the flames erupt in violent bursts, ensuring severe collateral damage. They're fast and decisive while remaining semi-sentient, capable of adjusting their attack pattern mid strike.
Name: Iwasaku- Boulder Splitter
Description:
Iwasaku once activated creates a living blazing storm, placing Nagarashi at the centre of a spiraling sentient inferno, fire curling around his strikes, sweeping off his body and recoiling back into his form. It feels less like he’s simply wielding fire but instead commanding a living battlefield of flames. The technique is dynamic, never truly dissipating but instead shifting its form depending on how Nagarashi directs it. The true strength of Iwasaku lies in its ability to shift seamlessly between offense and defense. When on the attack, Nagarashi channels the tempest outward, transforming the storm into sweeping vortexes of flames that cut, burn and detonate with crushing force. These attacks can take many shapes, like a blade swing which unleashes a tornado of fire which expands with each rotation. Condensed spires of spiralling flames lance out, piercing and exploding on impact. Smaller bursts of flames can break off from the tempest and bombard the enemy like flaming meteors. The storm's living quality means that attacks dont stop at the first hit, they coil, rebound and strike again, hunting the enemy until dispersed by force.
Shifting from attack to defense, the tempest forms a rotating wall of fire and pressure that shields Nagarashi. The flames harden into layers of searing wind, creating barriers that repel projectiles (arrows, Ceros, Kido) by burning and deflecting them. It acts as a deterrent to attackers that are in close proximity as the living fire instinctively lashes out. It disrupts ice, frost or oppressive Reiryoku fields with sheer heat and turbulence. The shield isn’t static as it moves with Nagarashi, capable of turning defense into attack through manipulation. The versatility of the technique enables Nagarashi to attack and defend simultaneously. As such he can be reckless with his attacks without leaving himself exposed.
Enten Youkai- Scorching Sun Apparitions
Description:
Upon command, Nagarashi’s Bankai manifests winged humanoid entities born from living fire, each bearing the visage of a phoenix-headed warrior with blazing wings. Numbering in the dozens, these radiant avatars are forged from Nagarashi’s own Reiryoku and act as extensions of both himself and his colossal phoenix. Their bodies are composed entirely of sentient flame, their movements trailing with streaks of molten light, and each wields a flaming replica of Kagutsuchi. The creatures mirror Nagarashi’s immense strength, speed, reflexes, Hakuda, Zanjutsu, and are extremely durable. Though born from fire, their forms possess startling solidity, allowing them to engage in direct combat. Their strikes cut and burn with the same ferocity as Nagarashi himself, and their wings give them blistering speed and the ability to assault the enemy from any angle.
While Nagarashi may command them directly, the apparitions exhibit independent judgment, reacting instinctively to threats and adapting to battlefield conditions. Even if Nagarashi is incapacitated, they persist until destroyed. Each apparition mirrors the capabilities of Kagutsuchi’s flame constructs, forming tendrils, barriers, whips, and explosive detonations. Their synchronization allows for overwhelming combined assaults or coordinated defensive formations. When defeated, an apparition detonates in a violent burst of flame and heat, incinerating anything within range. The fragments of fire return to Nagarashi’s control, enabling him to reforge new apparitions at will. Their collective presence produces an unbearable heat field, warping the air and blinding onlookers with constant bursts of solar-bright light. Simply being surrounded by them is a battle against suffocating pressure and searing brilliance.
While their full number can reach one hundred, Nagarashi may manifest fewer to conserve energy. The fewer apparitions active, the stronger and more durable each becomes.
Name: Homusubi- Soul of Fiery Childbirth
Homusubi is loosely based on the lore of Kagutsuchi's birth, who burns his mother (Izanami) to death when being birthed into the world.
Description:
As previously stated the giant phoenix is a constant during Kagutsuchi’s Bankai release. It is at the command of Nagarashi and is at his beckon call. It flies and moves at tremendous speeds while reigning over the skies. The light and flames shine so bright that they can blind the unfortunate onlookers. The body of the phoenix can be used to its utmost to harm the enemy. Whether its the wings, sharp beak, talons or otherwise. Independently it is capable of breathing fire, releasing large balls/beams of flames, continuously shed giant flaming feathers that rain across the battlefield that can pierce defences and explode on contact. Forcing the enemy into constant evasion. Capable of letting out an earth-shattering screech sending out waves of concussive fire on a target area that disrupts spiritual techniques e.g. kido, cero, barriers etc. It is not only an independent and semi-sentient being but also works together with Nagarashi.
In a collaborative sense, the phoenix mirrors Nagarashi's attacks while amplifying each attack. When Nagarashi swings his blade, the phoenix mirrors the motion with its massive fiery talons or wings. This creates a layered offense, a precise sword cut up close is backed by a colossal fiery strike that lands in the same instant. The aftermath is a slash which cleaves through a much wider area many meters wide with devastating force. Each strikes has a small scale and a phoenix scale execution simultaneously. This makes it difficult to avoid both Nagarashi and the phoenix. Their shared spiritual flow and connection means that if Nagarashi were to channel projectile based kido spells, the phoenix automatically scales it into something greater/more potent. Eg. Hado 31 Shakkaho becomes a massive fiery ball of destruction. The phoenix mirrors defensive motions too.
If Nagarashi parries an attack, the phoenix can intercept the larger threat, swatting away incoming projectiles, redirecting enemy Bankai level strikes, or shielding him in wings of fire. Nagarashi maintains a murder-suicide pact, although the user does not become a victim of the technique/phoenix, just the same as with Happo Zanshu and Nesaku. If portions of the phoenix is destroyed it can simply reform from the living flames that it produces. The phoenix is never still; even when idle, its massive wings flare in time with Nagarashi's breath and heartbeat, emphasizing their unity.
