"Pant"

"Pant."

The sound of breathing had been weighing heavy on the poor black-haired shinigami before a tall-framed woman with long lavender hair with fringes in front of her forehead, large breasts, and crimson eyes. She has a styled bun on top of her head. She stood with a cynical smirk a couple of feet behind the man who had been on all four of his limbs at this time. The male shinigami's dark brown eyes glared into the rippling crimson reflection of himself.

"Are you done, Kagi dear? Are we giving up?" She said she held a zanpakuto in one hand.

"You want to learn my true power. And yet you are there looking like a poor dog. Fight me, Kagi, dear. Otherwise you will die."

The voice of Chiba sounds like someone who enjoyed punishing the shinigami who held her power the moment he awakened her Shikai all that time ago. For a long time, he wield her power, eventually mastering its abilities over time, and now he has trained and trained to unlock the next stage.

"You.....talk....too...much. Never....said....anything...about *cough cough* giving up."

The right hand gripped the hilt between the palm and the crimson pool beneath. And like that, Kagi's hip twisted clockwise while simultaneously looking to bring up the right arm into a diagonal angle, but to no avail; Chiba leaned backward from the range of Kagi's attack, toying with a battered soul. Several leaves were looking to hone in on Kagi from behind just as he turned away. There were many, as it was an extensive trail of them flying about under Chiba's control. Just as they were closing in on his location, he used his strength to flash step away from them. He appeared several feet out to the right of him, while the left arm dangled to the side as it appeared mangled and decolored. The truth is Kagi wasn't winded from the fighting alone. He dealt with worse than what he is currently facing. It was the power of Chiba, her bankai. With the left arm unusable, he felt life from his body drain from his energy as the leaves turned from crimson to grassy green.

"You left yourself open."

Her voice whispered as if her words were directly following the ear, and he felt his limbs and torso suddenly shrouded with the foliage as they each camouflaged his entire body.

Suddenly, Kagi could feel his energy being sapped away while his body was becoming more disfigured, and he fell limped onto the pool of cardinal-colored lake.

Those memories flood his thoughts while his vision only sees shinigami trading words with one another. The tension builds and builds, and Densagi continues to rage because he doesn't enjoy Oto's word "friend." Only then did Kagi realize his doubts were correct; there was no talking or diffusing the situation with mere words. Every word Kenpachi spoke agitated Densagi further, and things were about to get even worse from here.

"BAN-"

Kagi's hand was placed on the hilt of his blade because, just a few letters in those words, he knew he was about to unleash something that would signify how severe his vengeance was when it came down to attacking Kenpachi full-on. Kagi would make his move until a voice stopped him in his tracks. The phantom menace held his position as another Captain appeared, a captain he did not know much about, only that this Captain was recently promoted like he was. She demanded him....no. The female Captain requests the raging beast to stand down. Her voice came off soft, as if she did not wish to fight but to calm him down with words. At the same time, Shizukana released a spiritual effect that she relied on to affect both Densagi and Aijo. Kagi was unaware of the impact she wished to cast upon these warriors, but her attempt further aggravated the issue.
"BLEED MEIGETSU!!!"

The crimson pillar shot up toward the sky, piercing through the clouds while exuberating a red glow. There was more intensity than before; Densagi's anger swelled along with his reiatsu. Only moments later, all that power died down to his zanpakuto, which they transformed into a different weapon. His actions had been at a point of no return, and he was willing to allow his anger to influence his actions. A rabid dog that needs to be put down, words were no longer enough; it was time to act. Kagi could have acted sooner than later, but he was looking to put his trust in the man who had been the source of the angry Shiba. Kagi does not feel anything regarding the situation, but he would regret not doing anything.

The entire surrounding area was being struck down with red lightning. Kagi couldn't allow him to attack the Captains; his actions would also put the other divisions nearby at risk. But he was not aware of anything regarding his zanpakuto's power. So Kagi would have to stick to a more strategic route for the time being, and like that, Kagi was no longer at the current place before his hidden location was to be consumed by streaks of lightning. Using his mastery in speed, he managed to avoid being struck, being forced to come out of hiding now that a loud thunderous strike had been made by Densagi's doing.

The entire location had turned into a battlefield, and Kagi would look to keep a certain distance but not too far away. The scene had changed before anyone could blink for a different vantage point where both Oto and Densgai were visually smaller as Kagi's view of them had them parallel at this time. Yet, with the lightning that expanded across the field, a transparent barrier appeared directly before the black-haired Captain who appeared in his new position. The fierce power collided with the barrier and resulted in an explosion. Kagi wanted to save precious moments to determine Densagi's power. Yet he knows that cannot happen this time. The only noticeable factor was that his power was of a lightning element. At the same time, Oto used his spell to counter the lightning and overtake Densagi's raging strength. But would it be successful? He placed his faith in Oto once to allow him to end things. Kagi now plans to aid him to ensure he can snuff this foolish act into the bud. There were no words Kagi could say except one.

LISTEN WHILE YOU READ
Kagi-Banki-Line.png

Quiet as Kagi had been physically and mentally, his reiatsu resonated deep inside him and was unleashed onto the surface the moment his lips recited the word. The sensation of this force was astounding, as Kagi may have been silent throughout the entire ordeal; however, the Captain's intensity spoke much louder as the sun that was present was no longer visible but eclipsed, and the ground beneath everyone's feet would be consumed and covered by a few inches of a crimson lake. A massive tree spang from underneath the ground behind the Second Division Captain. Its size did not matter; it did not take long to reach its total growth, where its length was enough to be seen by the eyes of the entire Seiretei, even the Rukongai. The tip of his tree had a rosebud that sprouted open and set free a massive amount of crimson foliage in all directions as they split into four different trails. They traveled into a spiraling dance while they motioned towards the target. Shizukana, Oto, and Nanami recently arrived to watch the events unfold. If she were smart, she would not get in the way if she knew what was good for her. Regardless, they would be safe from their wrath as the Second Divison Captain can ensure the power of his bankai will not harm them, for he can will it not touch them. Only a few know Kagi's bankai power; the only person who should be wary of its gift is the incarnate beast. They were honing in on his location, dancing through the sky in a spiraling fashion to where his entire view would be shrouded with Kagi's foliage. He may be powerful and angry, but can his power outmatch a Captain's bankai? He would find the leaves attaching themselves to every part of his body if he touched them or vice versa. The more leaves there are, the more he realizes how quickly his energy starts to fade until his skin is decomposed. Kagi wasn't born a killer, but he was built as one, an assassin he wasn't looking to kill; Densagi needed it to face the consequences of his actions. However, that doesn't mean Kagi would hold back from allowing Densagi to kill him or anyone due to his rage, even if his action had been mainly towards the man who slaughtered his family. There was no room for Kagi to feel emotions for anything or anyone; there was only action, and that is all Densagi's hatred has allowed him to do.

She pays little heed to the Third seat's departure. She merely smiles as Shibuya distances herself from her. When the small elder motioned, Kokuren followed with a skip and a hum, toting the massive syringe like some manner of club.
"While I'd love to say every unit is finished and ready for use, a few minor hiccups have caused a delay for particular items. The Reiteashi are some such items,"

"Oh no! The Doctor's not going to like that one bit."

She exclaims, listening to Shibuya's explanation as they continue moving through the the Institute, carefully guided towards one of the very few sectors she and others are allowed to be in. They briefly stop at a door, Kokuren's helpful guide ensuring the door opens for them as they step in. She stops when Shibuya stops, a pair of plain boxes adjacent to them.
"Ah, that's gr-"
"I would say we can be complete in three days, if only we hadn't been interrupted in the midst of such an important period of manufacturing by a disturbance such as yourself. It may yet be another week, perhaps three, due to this yet further unforeseen circumstance. Pity, isn't it?"

Mid-exclamation at how great it was hearing how they were nearly done with productions, the nurse is cut off as Shibuya proceeds to tell her about the extended delay. Not only does she tell her there will be a rather extensive delay in the products' completion, but she pins the blame for this delay on none other than Kokuren herself, and by proxy Itaku who sent her.

The nurse stares blankly, tilting her head one way then the other before hanging her head, dropping the arm wielding the large syringe as a heavy sigh escapes her. Her free hand comes, resting over her face.

"Oh no...what am I going to do?"

Was she speaking to Shibuya expecting some form of sympathy, comfort? Or, was the question rhetorical in nature?

"On behalf of myself and the Doctor, we're so so very sorry Lady Shibuya."

She lifts her head, water eyes peering at the short woman. A sniffle here, a sniffle there.

"Its just, we believed heavily in the greatest minds of the Seireitei no! The Soul Society in getting this done!"

She rises up, her head hangs low once more as she brings a hand close to her chest, her lower lip trembling.

"Never would we have thought that a single visit would be enough to cripple you all in such a detrimental way! Why, we never would have burdened you with so heavy a task. We in the Fourth are not in the business of pushing someone beyond their means or ability after all, I swear!"

Despite the teary eyes, the quiver in her voice, and the sniffling being done, Shibuya is a smart woman, more then capable of peering beyond the dramatics. She is able to hear the clear insult to the members of the Twelfth. By blaming Kokuren for the delay in production, Kokuren in turn, simply rebuts that if her little visit was enough to delay them then they weren't as competent as one might be led to believe.

In her wisdom she understands that if she chooses to die on this hill, the blame and responsibility will solely be placed on the members of Twelfth, while the Fourth will be completely vindicated.
And though she has no evidence to support her, nothing indicating it to be so, something tells her all the same that Itaku will have had a hand in doing so one way or another.

'No, no NO!!'

All at once everything began to lose control.
The vision that she had of a peaceful reunion between her, Otokogi and Densagi was fading from view at an alarming rate. Although her arrival had circumvented Densagi’s Bankai, every beat of her heart grew louder and louder as she realized that the prospect of a harmless encounter had completely vanished before her eyes.
At first, she had tried to soothe the situation by introducing her own truce inducing reiatsu to the situation in an effort to help Densagi see things from a more objective and less enraged perspective but this proved to be a detrimental upset as he took her intervention as a show of manipulation rather than one of aid.

"How DARE YOU!!!"

Thereby, demolishing his trust in her just like Otokogi.

It was all her fault.

‘It is all your fault.’

She was complacent.

‘You were complacent.’

"I'm done talking. No more words, no more understanding. Why don't you..."

She was distracted!

‘You were distracted.’

She had ruined everything.

"Why don't you just...just..."

‘You have ruined everything.’

"BLEED MEIGETSU!!!"

A cruel disembodied voice that only she could hear hissed at her, cementing her belief that any sense of the possibility of reconciliation between two of her most cherished but blemished friends utterly disintegrated when she heard, no, felt Densagi exclaim his Zanpakuto’s name and summon his Shikai. The eruption of his unhinged reiatsu, the red pillar of chaotic power and the calamity of his Shikai’s hammer crashing into the earth was truly nothing in comparison to the weight she felt knowing that she and she alone was to blame for making everything worse.

"Densagi! PLEASE Stop This!!”

It was no good, it was no use, no matter how she tried her desperate screams could not reach her Lieutenant over the roar of his immense display of power. By now, Otokogi had shunpo’d away during the time she’d taken to begin speaking to Densagi and far enough to prepare what was most likely a long ranged attack and without his own Shikai active, it stood to reason that he’d employ some manner of Kido.
Then, out of nowhere, it appeared a second captain had made it onto the scene or rather perhaps he had been there the entire time enshrouded in suppressed shadow since it seemed as if he manifested out of thin air. With him, after Otokogi cast his spell, rose a magnificent tree so big that everyone could see it as far as their eyes could see and scores of leaves began to charge toward their target namely her vice-captain.
To them, he had transformed into nothing more than another threat that needed to be dealt with, A rabid dog that needed to be put down but the Shiba man meant so much more than that to her. Which should have given sense to what Captain Kurayami was forced to resort to. To her, things were not that simple.
So she would act, and not in the way that most would likely presume.

In the split seconds that it took for the hammer to strike and devastate the ground and the old man’s spell to make contact with the lightning, as well as for the foliage in the skies to dance, Shizukana vanished directly into the volatile field of Densagi’s reiatsu. One hand was upon her own body, aglow with the minty green reiatsu belonging to her Kaido supplying herself with a constant and steady replenishment of her own Strength, speed and spiritual power in order to attempt to combat the effects of the parasitic nature of Meigetsu’s crimson bolts.
It was true that he surpassed her in terms of the amount of spiritual power he commanded, but her hope was that in doing this she’d be able to endure it's drain for the time it would take for what she had to do long enough to make a minuscule of an amount of difference.

Just a foot away, The fingers of her other hand had tapped one of the two of her identical jade hair beads and thrust a powder from them directly into his possibly gaping mouth and face, showering him with it entirely.
In addition to this, Kurayami attempted to take hold of Densagi’s great body and flashed away once more only to reappear high in the sky upon a reishi platform out of the range of the eventual explosion of the Kenpachi’s incantation. These actions were all simultaneous with one another, regardless if the Shiba made a pre-emptive attempt to strike her in response to her sudden yet, highly unorthodox approach. Had he done so, Shizukana was fully intent on taking whatever hit and the horrific damage to her body that would ensue while still removing Densagi from harm's way. Should all of her actions have succeeded, he would have been fast asleep hanging listlessly with the back of his shihakusho tightly in her clutches.
Lifting, moving and suspending such a stocky and heavy man was child’s play for the much smaller and slender woman, after all, her specific method of training her physical strength involved hoisting and transporting much heftier weights from dusk to the light of the following day.

Seeing as the cloud of leaves were still headed their way, Shizukana cried out to the two captain’s below her with an anger in her tone that had not been there before. The call was to put an end to both of their assaults, to put an end to the oncoming storm of the dark-haired captain’s leaves and by extension, his Bankai.

"STOP THIS AT ONCE!”

The danger in her actions had crossed her mind, but she didn’t care. In a past life, the young woman routinely deployed unto some of the most daring, perilous and high stakes rescue missions most of which were successful by her hand. She had put herself in the line of fire more times than she was able to count on the field of battle where many of her patients attacked her out of delirium yet still she stood before these men.
Alive and well for this reason or that.

"Hasn’t there been enough violence already?!”

The captain shouted out at the others a second time, her once gentle voice now emboldened and carrying over the deafening atmosphere but in truth, her overall process had taken a tremendous toll on her.
Shizukana’s defiant declaration was one of a captain trying to protect her lieutenant from himself and from her mistakes and from the inevitability these two insisted on. The case at hand may have lacked a proper climax or seemed too lightly handled but such was the way of the fifth division captain. Her fixation on all avenues to peace led her to do strange things such as what she had done to ensure all members involved remained safe and able to get their bearings.

In the end, he was her responsibility and one that she had unwittingly neglected to the point that it had come to this. Surely, with the hazard quelled, more sensible efforts could be explored that would not further exacerbate the delicate plight from which they all suffered.

"Never would we have thought that a single visit would be enough to cripple you all in such a detrimental way! Why, we never would have burdened you with so heavy a task. We in the Fourth are not in the business of pushing someone beyond their means or ability after all, I swear!"

Kokuren's dramatic display, convincing it may be to the very dullest, only made her roll her eyes. While the girl's apology was coated in venom under the pitchy drivel, Shibuya would at least give her the benefit of not being so inept as to point the insult directly at the elder herself.

"Tsk." her tongue clicked, an obvious display of displeasure, yet the redhead didn't seem all too bothered save the light crinkling of her nose.

An insult to 12th wasn't a particularly scathing choice, general it was about expendable nobodies. It did, however, present a point for Shibuya to latch onto, teeth ready to rip and tear the moment they sink in, and tossing the blame far and beyond her middling seat number.

"Of course it has, my dear girl. Have you seen the state of us?" she asks, brows furrowing in frustration, her prior grin melting to a pout. "You must understand the struggle we are facing– Any minor hiccup has become destructive to our workflow, reluctant as I am to admit it,"

"I've made a rather great effort to resolve this issue," her hands rub at her temples as her face scrunches up, attempting to rid herself of a headache that will never come. "I am but one woman with little authority in the grand scheme of things,"

"Perhaps if third-seat Teishi were not so–"
an abrupt stop grips her words, biting her tongue, a shake of her head dispelling the shifted blame already uttered.

One of her earlier monologues echoes in her head, the truth of 12ths situation the same as it always had been. Certainly a touch more hectic here and there, but the busy little bees scurried along to their own rhythms as they always had– The actual disruption they had suffered earlier, the one not a lie bitten out to match the false-upset thrown at her by the nurse, was an accidental fire caused by a bad mixture of misplaced wires, electrical currents strong enough to burn, and an unlucky no-name's apron. A common enough mishap that a flick of their– perhaps now outdated by Shibuya's standards- ventilation system and quick reflexes prevented any loss of data or physical resources.

That being said, such an opportunity to discredit the third-seat presenting itself did warrant taking advantage. Unlike her earlier silently vowed grudge against the woman, her choice now was far from personal, just an opening she couldn't resist. She has no idea what the 3rd seats plans are in regard to the vacant leadership roles present, but the fact of the matter was she was in the way of progress- Of the ideas for progress Shibuya has been tirelessly working towards.

"But you're not here to listen to our plights, now are you?" she sighs through her nose, toothy grin slowly inching back to her face, muted it may be compared to her prior displays, rolling her shoulders in a vague shrug, "If Captain Ōhei so desperately needs the supply, you may take what we already have," she once again gestures to the boxes at their feet.

Another sigh, more exasperated, slips out, her hands returning to what seemed to be their default folded together behind her lower back "And my earlier estimate of three days can be achieved by diverting manpower from other projects. Do tell your dear Doctor that I appreciate his patience in these arduous times we find ourselves in,"

The matching sneer she gave to Kokuren spelled out the meaning of her 'thanks' well enough without her tone shifting from the dull monotone she reserved for just such disingenuous moments.

"If that is all, I have other matters to attend to," the following words hissed out in what could be the first real verbal expression of her feelings since they arrived in the storage sector, "Now that my break has been utterly wasted,"

His heart was beating, thumping in his chest. As the red lightning stormed outside, it mirrored his heart and soul that was in torment. For Densagi, a storm existed both without and within. In response to Meigetsu's blood lightning, the old teacher chose to meet it head on, responding with a powerful Kido spell, one numbered in the 70's. Yet it is this very power that serves not the Kenpachi, but Densagi instead.

Had it been so long that the two had last encountered one another, spoken or thought of each other that Otokagi had forgotten the power of his shikai? The spell and the lightning collide head on, a collision signaled by a blinding light, casting the surrounding area in a mixture of glows. At first what the old man expects to happen, appears to be transpiring, as the spell begins to dominate the lightning yet, this in itself is puzzling. The two forces should by all accounts, not even be competing. The dazzling light persists and those spiritually perceptive and not somehow distracted by the situation itself would perhaps be able to perceive it.

The spell cast by Kenpachi, was waning, diminishing in both color and strength as the crimson light began burning ever brighter, the bolts of lightning humming even stronger, quickly drinking from the spiritual nectar of Sōren Sōkatsui, courtesy of Captain Aijo.

Ba-Dump

His heart continues beating, a bit louder as a new emotion is thrown into the inner storm of the Vice Captain; confusion. Why? Why would Otokogi use a Kido spell against Meigetsu knowing what his shikai did? Densagi couldn't wrap his head around it. Rather perceiving it to be a simple mistake, an error on the elder's part some part of him can't help but imagine an alternative. Was he perhaps, delivering himself to Densagi? Was he truly attempting to sacrifice himself to his rage? If so then..maybe...just maybe, his words weren't empty.

Ba-Dump
Traped in the glow of the crimson lightning, he momentarily reflects on Chōko's words. His bottom lip trembles, hesitation beginning to grip the hand that grips his zanpakuto. The lightning, far stronger now, empowered by both his own impressive spiritual power and now augmented further by a fully powered Sōren Sōkatsui that was bolstered by its caster's equally impressive reserves. This caused the bolts of lightning to become far larger, fiercer, sharper, stronger. It are these bolts that serve to expose the hidden and skulking Captain Senko.

'Huh? What is he doing he- wait!'

Ba-Dump

The hand of hesitation finds its grip loosened, the trembling of his lips stops as he peers towards the direction of the Captain. That was three Captains that were here, two of which were meant to be close to him. One of the three butchered his family, and the other shortly after arriving had attempted to mess with his mind using her reiatsu and now a third Captain was revealed lying in waiting the shadows. Densagi now perceives this situation of pure happenstance as an ambush orchestrated by the three. The third Captain was the newly appointed Captain of the Second Division. Was Oto using himself as a sacrifice not for Densagi's sake, but...to serve as bait to allow Captain Senko to kill him? His eyes widen, shifting his gaze towards his Captain.

Ba-Dump

A misunderstanding on many fronts, one that causes he storm inside Densagi to writhe and rage even stronger. What happens next, cements illusion into fact, a misunderstanding into the truth.

An explosion of spiritual pressure is exposed, one that continues to climb higher and higher. Though the words were not heard, this level of reiatsu being released and the results immediately after tell all those present and those further still what has transpired. A red eclipse transpires, as blood seems to rise to the surface a massive tree sprouts from the distances and climbs towards the sky, growing and expanding further and further. This level and intensity of reiatsu, its signature matched the explosion of reiatsu that had occurred mere moments ago. This, was a bankai.

Ba-Dump

'They...really aimed to kill me...'

The image of him, Oto and Shizukana shattered like glass. He had been angry yes, and he had even drawn his blade against Oto, released his Shikai but...deep in his heart of hearts, deep in his soul his resolve to truly kill his old friend was not there. He wanted blood yes, but...the will to truly kill him, to end his life. Did he truly have it in him to do so? He clenched his teeth, the sound of everything outside deafened by his own beating heart. Blinded to Otokagi flashstepping away from his spell being consumed and overwhelmed by the augmented red lightning, blinded to his Captain rushing towards him, blinded to the tree's full blooming and the descent of the trees....blinded to the truth.

Ba-Dump

'Yea...there was never a reason for me to doubt or hesitate huh. You were wrong....Chōko-sama.'

"Ban-KAI!"
As the leaves from Captain Senko's bankai are guided towards their target, the scene finds itself changed once again. The sky eclipsed by the effects of the Captain's Bankai, now finds the entirety of the Northwestern sector of the Seireitei and its neighboring sector covered in a red lens. Falling from the sky is a massive scarlet sphere. Its size and the intensity behind its glow, it is as if this sphere has come to take the place of the sun blotted out by Captain Senko's bankai. Unfortunately that is not the case.

Electricity crackles as towering bolts of lightning flash out from the sphere, endlessly and indiscriminately. In some ways, Densagi's bankai and Captain Senko's shared similarities. Where they differed however, was the strength and ferocity of their respective bankai, and the fact that while Kagi could guide the leaves of his Bankai, Densagi had no control of where his lightning went, or who they targeted. The leaves targeting Densagi, Shizukana rushing towards him as well would find themselves consumed in a single bolt, the scope of its size rivaling a lumbering menos grande. The scale of its power perhaps likened to a fully powered destructive spell in the high 80's, and its appetite for reiatsu...insatiable, its rate of siphoning...likened to the very thing doing it, a lightning bolt, a single flash. And the terror of realizing that this is but a single bolt, one of countless others raining down without end.

Shizukana who had been using Kaido to deal with Meigetsu's lightning perhaps might have stalled for time while his Shikai were active, though even then it was a reckless and foolish choice. As she continued to heal and replenish her reserves it meant that it would have served only to make the lightning stronger, no upper limit to how much the lightning could consume or how powerful they could get from this consumption also meant that she would have to continue exerting more effort, more reiryoku to compete with the ever growing power of Meigetsu's bolts. If that was in shikai, then what of Bankai?

The blood leaves that fall find themselves consumed by a power far greater than their own, with a rate of consumption that also superseded their own. By releasing his Bankai, Kagi has forced Densagi's hand. As he is confident in his own power and his zanpakuto, he isn't confident enough to challenge a Bankai with Shikai. As of now, Kagi's bankai would serve to help bolster and strengthen Densagi's own bankai. In fact, it wasn't just his bankai, but every shinigami out and exposed right now in North Western Seireitei and some of the neighboring sectors as well.

With the lightning striking in irregular patterns and intervals it means that it is impossible to predict where they will land to properly dodge, as avoiding one still exposed one to the countless others. Worst still was the fact that as the lightning siphoned power from those souls and perhaps any barriers erected to protect one's self, it meant that the destructive potential behind these already lethally powerful bolts was rising higher, the speed in their strikes becoming far faster, the rate in which they consumed from others, faster still, while the sun-like sphere and the bolts it ceaselessly released were expanding and growing in size.

Shzukana who had been racing towards Densagi, desperate to stop the madness that was quickly spiraling out of control, should she have survived the strike from the bankai's bolt or evaded would find her eyes cast upon her Vice Captain, already a large man by now, undoubtedly rivaling the size of the Seireitei's Four Great Seireimon Gatekeepers (四大瀞霊門門番, Shidai Seireimon Monban).

A situation once capable of being contained, physical and political damage minimized and the situation somehow spun to ease any fears and apprehension is now exposed like a nerve to all of Seireitei. Densagi who once was capable of perhaps being reasoned with, no longer trusts any who stand before him and...perhaps those around him as well. What started out as conflict between two souls, has now pulled in every soul present.

A mistake, a horrible mistake at the hands of the Kenpachi. He was not thinking, or rather it had totally slipped his mind that the Shikai he was facing was parasitic in nature. His only thought was to hit Densagi with something hard enough to knock him down and out but this was far worse than anything he could have hoped for… Well, at that precise moment at least. He glances upward to the sight and feeling of another strong source of Reiatsu, the Captain of Second Division who had released his Bankai in response to the threat of Densagi. Otokogi was not thinking about the Shiba’s current mental state and how the sight and release of this Bankai would affect him. All he was thinking about was how this Bankai could help subdue the ranging man in order to seal him and get him into a position to use words rather than force, sadly, this opportunity would never come to pass. The bolts of lighting raced his way, undeterred forcing the old man to draw his blade and make use of Hōzan Kenbu, a technique where the user swings their blade around their body at high speeds to prevent the approach of an opponent. In this case it was used to defend against the bolts of lightning although some still managed to slip through and injure the old man and siphon his Reiatsu, but it wasn’t anything he couldn’t handle, for now…

Worst Case Scenario

Everything became still in the next few moments as Otokogi watched Shizukana try her best to reach out to her Lieutenant, to get him to reel back on his rage. The old man could feel his own heartbeat pounding in his head like a pulsing headache, an agonizing reminder that he is alive and well, but for how much longer? That climbing, building, Reiatsu he senses from Densagi only meant one thing… When that two syllable word hit his ear drums, when his brain processed the word being spoken that pounding in his head sunk down into the deepest parts of his stomach.

”No…”

One word was all he spoke, was it audible? Could anyone hear the fear and distress in this word he spoke? Could he? A red tint covers the entirety of the Northwestern quadrant they currently occupy, his skin tingles, his throat runs dry forcing him to swallow his own spit to keep himself from coughing. A primal fear permeated his very body and yet he still had the will to move himself, he still knew that standing around like this will only promote his death and death was never an option for this old man. He had released his Bankai earlier that day to aid in training, but this time it would have to aid in the subjugation or death of an old friend. With his Zanpakuto already in hand, he speaks the fabled words feared by all enemies of Shinigami.

”BAN- KAI!!”

There is a bright flash of light and a massive release of Reiatsu followed by nothing, all that remained was Otokogi standing there in silence with a massively thick Katana as tall as him when including the handle. A random bolt of lightning falls down upon the old man, but this is fine because he will no longer rely on Kido but rather the Shinigami Arts he has the most faith in, the arts that have time and time again put his foes down for good. He will be returning to his home, to Zanjutsu. He swings his blade upwards, to meet the lightning bolt, with his Zanpakuto ability being something based on a phenomenon rather than Reiatsu; he had no fear of furthering the strength of these bolts. The lightning is cut and proceeds to fold in on itself and explodes over the head of the Kenpachi, sparing him of damage.

Zettai Jūryokuhanten

”Zettai Jūryokuhanten.”
(Absolute Gravity Inversion; 絶対重力反転)

One aspect of his Bankai, that is used as a trump card, is the blades ability to inverse gravity to cause things to fold in on themselves or turn inside out so to speak. For these randomly striking bolts of lightning Otokogi would be able to use this ability to defend himself, for now. The firm reminder he received not too long ago allowed him to realize time is of the essence and if he doesn’t strike now things will get worse and Densagi will be in a place where he can become unstoppable. Otokogi knew that this Bankai was killing innocent Shinigami who had nothing to do with this conflict, this battle and he, reluctantly, had to use that knowledge as fuel to his spirit. At first it was a spark, he swings his blade again to stop another bolt of lightning that was faster than the last, the spark strikes and creates embers, he begins to frown now as he feels the rage within him, these embers ignite stocking an old flame that had not burned for ten months. His eyes glow with silver rage, he grits his teeth, and now his facial expression is finally something more befitting of a Kenpachi.

”DENSAGI YOU BASTARD!!!!!!!”

The inverse phenomenon of Otokogi’s Bankai takes hold now, the giant Densagi would feel his balance shift against his will as he now began falling towards the horizon. The towering tree of Captain Senko begins leaning towards the horizon as well. But this is merely not localized to just their area, no, the entire Northwest and Southwest portion of the Seireitei is currently under the effects of Otokogi’s Bankai. What of the lightning? Anything coming down from above will be forced to turn away and shot back towards the sky where the lightning would collide with other bolts in the sky before they can make landfall or hit the Soul Membrane and be erased from existence. This measure is not permanent as each bolt falls a bit closer to the ground each time, showing of how Densagi’s power was growing. He shouts out to the two other Captains, hoping they had not fallen too far away and are still within ear shot to hear him

”Kagi! Shizukana! Go make sure no more lives are lost, my Bankai can’t hold back this lightning forever! I’m going to kill Densagi.”

Without even waiting for a response from them Otokogi bolts off with Shunpo, the ground cratering at his feet, racing to catch up to the falling Densagi. As he nears the behemoth of a man he takes aim with is Zanpakuto, holding it in a way that the edge of the blade is turned upward with his left hand resting on the blunt side of his Zanpakuto. This man is a master of Zanjutsu, he knows many styles and for the first time in his life, despite his current wrathful nature, he feels doubt in his skill with a blade. Is his force fed rage enough to counteract the justified rage of Densagi? It is unknown for now, but what is known is that Otokogi is running on borrowed time as the bolts of lighting draw closer and closer to the ground, pushing their way past his gravity inversion with sheer strength alone. His only gambit will be the techniques of Zanjutsu, for the sake of the Seireitei, he hopes it will be enough.

From Southwest

She should not be here, not in these conditions, nowhere near this titanic amount of Reiatsu flaring up between multiple Captains. Sparks of white flame appear and quickly fade off her skin, she is doing everything she can to merely move in these suffocating conditions as she moves from rooftop to rooftop. This is not training, this is a fight for survival. As she is moving she spots something to her left, It is massive, big enough to blot out the sun. She turns her head to only see a massive tree-like object extending up from the ground followed by the sound of what sounded like lightning arcing across the ground. She was becoming panicked, unsure of what was happening anymore in this section of the Seireitei. Was that tree there to aid Oto or hurt him? That was the least of her worries now as what happened next not only made her heart sink into the pits of her stomach but also turned the fight for survival into a game of death.

Crimson Nightmare

A red tint washes over everything followed by a massive crimson bolt of lightning crashing down onto the building beside her that gave her a strange sensation she had never felt before, her skin running cold. The Reiatsu in the air had only multiplied making things even worse for her now. Kuwashii was prepared to deal with high concentrations of Reiatsu but nothing like this, nothing on this scale. She attempts to battle back, in vain, with her own Reiatsu only for another red bolt of lightning to crash near her and siphon her white flames off of her body. With part of her strength sapped away from her she slips and crashes through the window of a building where multiple Shinigami were hunkered down. She sits up quickly looking around in a daze at the other Shinigami who rushed over to help her up to her feet.

”Relax! We aren’t sure what’s going on either but we need to stay here, away from that lightning!”

She looked towards the male Shinigami who just spoke to her before her eyes locked onto another window across the room. She shoved the others away from her which surprised them that she was even capable of doing that given her small frame. She staggers towards the window, her white flames reigniting across her body. The building provided minimal shelter but just enough for Kuwashii to reignite her stamina.

”Can’t stop, gotta get to Twelfth Division…”

She crouches down and lets out a battle cry as she launches herself out of the window and for a fraction of a second she seemed like a shooting star. Given the conditions outside however, it was short lived as all her flames were siphoned off her body once again as the building she was just in was struck by lightning, possibly killing the occupants. She lands on a long stretch of a building, running or rather jogging as best as she could towards the Twelfth Division which was finally in sight. She had to stay on this rooftop, she had to get a good running start if she wanted to make the leap over the way. She was so exhausted by this point everything felt like a fever dream, the red tent, the sound of lightning crashing and the Shinigami she had just ran into, were they real? Was any of this real? It mattered very little in this moment as she only focused on getting to her destination.

She grit her teeth and began pushing her body beyond its limits to break into a sprint, letting out another war cry to spur herself onward. She reaches the edge of the building hunches down and with a final burst of Reiatsu she explodes off the roof of the building, using her Reiatsu as propulsion to launch herself. This was a bad choice in actions as red lightning crashes down behind her, the closest it has ever gotten since the first initial strike. The concussive force of the blast sent her forward but given its proximity to her, rendered her unconscious as it sapped the last bit of her energy. She was not going to make it over the wall of Twelfth Division, at most she would crash into it then fall to the ground. Either through some form of luck or timing the lightning strikes came to a halt and she suddenly began falling towards the wall. Her body bounced limply off the top of it, taking some shingles with her as she landed on the side of a building which prevented her from falling any further. There she would remain, unconscious, until someone found her.

"BANKAI!”

'What in the world was he thinking?!'

In horror, Kurayami could do nothing but look on helplessly as everything quickly began to spiral out of control. Any hope of regaining his senses, any thought that she could get through to him disappeared before her very eyes like a candle’s flickering flame being extinguished by a sharp breath. The situation had been a delicate one from the start that should have called for extreme caution as well as restraint and under no circumstances should there have been a need for anyone’s Bankai much less Senko’s but there it was a tree of titanic proportions rising from the earth exceedingly loud and threatening. This was the only way that Densagi was capable of deciphering it after all! Why he thought that exhibiting any hint of a challenge or threat toward her raving Lieutenant was beyond her. If it hadn’t been for this show of recklessness then there could have been a chance but the past was already far behind them and a dark future fast approached.

"Ban-KAI!"

Over the turbulence of the eruptive environment around her she was barely able to comprehend what she was hearing. Had she heard Densagi correctly, had his pain and his anger truly pushed him to the point of no return she once believed would never come to pass? Had he really gone as far as breaking the very laws that he had vowed to protect in order to enact his personal judgement? Admittedly, the situation thus far had thrown her for a loop but confronting the fact that in violating these laws he had now put the entirety of the soul society in very real danger was something that she was having difficulty doing.
After narrowly avoiding the initial clash of the two titans, Shizukana had time to take a single breath with all becoming silent before she felt the wave of the immensity of his power surge like a wildfire. It was then that she really understood that there was no going back. The power he was turning against Otokogi, against her..no, against the whole of the Seireitei itself had been banned within the totality of the soul society and with good reason. Single handedly, the power of his Bankai in particular was so devastating that if it was not contained or otherwise restrained it could destroy everything.
He knew that.
HE KNEW THAT.
As hard as it was to swallow, Shizukana couldn’t continue to look past that he made a choice, the worst choice quite impaired by blinding rage but a choice nonetheless that had unleashed hell upon them. Not only them, but innocent people that had nothing to do with the transgressions plaguing the Kenpachi and Densagi were at risk of, if not already, losing their lives. Narrowly avoiding the old man’s Kido colliding with Meigetsu’s Shikai, Shizukana shunpo’d away again forward dodging the intiation of her vice-captain's Bankai and in the process of her hoho’s employment her vision momentarily burned red.

Suddenly, and only for a second, she gazed up at his now colossal form towering above all else like an outrage god before disappearing into her Shunpo again and reappearing yards away to occupy a spot between the second division’s Captain Senko and a dually frustrated Captain Aijo. This frustration then swelled up until he too appeared to have become enveloped and empowered by his own rage.

"BAN- KAI!!”

Clearly, the geezer had been angry with Densagi before but now he was furious. A squabble between them could have been arranged properly within the confines of the law so as to keep everyone uninvolved safe but the last Shiba had taken the law into his own hands and now he had forced Otokogi’s hand in the process.
All feelings for the man had to take a back seat, once he had been considered a comrade but now he had transformed into an enemy. The amount of heartbreak that he had to be enduring was surely tremendous and only growing as quickly as Densagi was.

Kurayami’s eyes widened upon the utterance of Otokogi’s summon for she was as rightly well-versed in its mechanisms. Also unable to choose who underwent its effects, she utilized her mastery of her Hoho and meticulous control to circumvent it's signature loss of balance. In fact, before this day, if she had to describe it, she would have compared the feeling of the phenomenon to be terribly disorienting but also rather fun once she’d gotten the hang of it!

Having said this, like Otokogi and his Bankai, she was intimately familiar with Meigetsu’s having fought alongside it to rid the Shinigami of their enemies together during times of war. Now, as it was this day, back then he had also been unable to control who the Bankai’s lightning afflicted and so, she had been forced to adapt and design a method that she put into action in which she was able to avoid the indiscriminate bolts lashing out at whatever they could find and by extension avoiding being subjected to it’s parasitic drain of Reiryoku and reiatsu. By conjuring reishi platforms in the appropriate spaces, angles and amount, the captain is able to propel herself where she needs to be and how she needs to move. She would utilize the lowest amount and quality of them so that the greedy lightning would have virtually nothing to consume as it persued her.

In past experiences, she had been afforded the honor of dealing with both overwhelming Bankais at the same time before and to do so in close quarters with one another had proved to be very troublesome. However, she quickly resolved that anything created with spiritual power like reiatsu or If she created platforms constructed of reishi to maintain her stance, Densagi’s Bankai would devour them as quickly as she could enchant which in this case meant that she’d be feeding into his defiant power if she did so now. In further response to this, she went on to cease all manner of conjurations including her use of Kaido on herself.

As Captain Kurayami flash stepped around rapidly, she tapped into the times when she was required to avoid Densagi’s red lightning. She reminded herself of the sensations she felt when her hair stood on end the split second between when she would shunpo away before a bolt struck where she had once been just barely missing her. This sixth sense was the result a combination of her own instinctual warning system and her knack for being able to read the fluctuations of the spiritual power and reiatsu around her.
The captain’s Reikaku provided her with a blurry map so to speak with which she was able to moderately determine where a bolt of lightning might strike but because they were manifesting so erratically she was not able to do so without the possibility of error.
Until she came up with a better plan, she shunpo’d out of the way of a crimson bolt where she’d land upon the closest establishment yards further away. Taking to the sides of buildings, ceilings and other obstacles to traverse, the captain stabilized herself.

”DENSAGI YOU BASTARD!!!!!!!”

The further she drew from the scene, the more she began to accept three undeniable truths.

One, was that she had already played an intricate part in making things worse. She could not afford to act as she had been in order to get a chance that she had already been given a multitude of instances and had misinterpreted at every turn.
Two, was that she was both aware of her own limits and of her own mortality. She was used to it by now, or so she thought, that when a dilemma proved impossible to overcome, she would abandon all previous ambitions in order to concentrate on facilitating an escape. To survive another day was her constant objective, a notion that was harder than it sounded to devote oneself to but shamelessly, Kuryami routinely withdrew herself in order to preserve her own life and the lives of her allies.
Lastly, three, which was that she could not stomach, fathom or imagine harming Densagi Shiba. No…Not her closest friend, not the man who stood by her and held her as she cried her woes into his chest and listened to his in kind. Not the man that she…

As tears trickled down her cheeks, they burned hot against her skin and it took everything in her to fight back a broken sob. It was times like this that she questioned her own passive position when it came to commencing combat with those she loved, with another person. Though, this doesn’t last long as she makes sure to recall that even if he choked the life out of her, even if he beat her into the ground and killed her that she would not be able to do the same to him.
In a battle against him, she was useless.
Up until now, her lieutenant and every captain on the field had released their Bankai except for her and as far as she was concerned that was how it would stay.

”Kagi! Shizukana! Go make sure no more lives are lost, my Bankai can’t hold back this lightning forever! I’m going to kill Densagi.”

She wanted to save him. So desperately. She thought that she could save him but she had been so wrong and now the people she was tasked to keep safe were in peril.
At a tragic impasse, she chose the path of least resistance where she would be able to help.
With a heavy heart she obeyed Captain Aijo’s command and began to shunpo away toward the Northwest sector.
There was no saving him now, and she didn't want to begin to think about what would happen if Otokogi failed but she could still commence rescue and evacuation efforts to save those who could be for the time being. A saving grace that aided her retreat also laid in the inversion of the Kenpachi's Bankai serving to help her evade the lightning bolts making it so that they were no longer crashing into the earth.
Vanishing into obscurity, Shizukana intended on making use of this gap in time to get away before the lightning could grow enough to be able to reach her again and so began a race against time.

The spiritual storm formed from the raging bankai of not one but two Captain Class shinigami, became that much larger from the addition of a third Captain level Bankai. For the second time this day, the Third's Captain had released his Bankai. In Densagi's eyes, this was the plan all along, or rather plan B. The other Captain was meant to end his life with his Bankai, killing him before he could release his own. Since that didn't happen, naturally this meant that the old man would have to dirty his hands directly.
”DENSAGI YOU BASTARD!!!!!!!”

Eyes illuminated in an almost permanent crimson glow scowl towards the elder as his perception of the man begins to shift due to the steady increase in his size.

"HOW DARE YOU!"

His voice was like thunder, and though it wasn't the case, the lightning seemed to respond to his anger in its violent flashes. Just as the Kenpachi is familiar with his zanpakuto, specifically his Bankai, so too is Densagi familiar with his. He feels his body shifting away from the ground he treads on. This is fine, afloat in the air Densagi moves the weight of his large arms in such a way to angle his top half back towards the ground. This does not stop the descent or, rather ascent nor is it meant to.

"YOU SURROUND ME WITH OTHER CAPTAINS, ATTEMPT TO HAVE ME ASSASSINATED BY ONE CAPTAIN AND THEIR BANKAI, AND I'M THE BASTARD?!"

Anger fuels both combatants. The rage due to the bystanders swept in the storm fuel Otokagi just as the rage from being seemingly surrounded by Captains with one attempting to assassinate him from his perspective only to be villainized for meeting force with an equivalent force further fuels the rage of the enraged Shiba. As the bolts of lightning continue to fly out indiscriminately Densagi does something perhaps unexpected by the old man, he reaches out and physically takes hold of a cluster of bolts. The reishi in Soul Society is incredibly dense, for this reason reishi plates are generally not formed as such a task is nigh impossible.

But so what?

"HYPOCRITE!!!"

He bellows out like an enraged beast towards the Kenpachi who is now rocketing his way. Beneath Densagi's feet is an almost amorphous looking shimmer. It is the results of a reishi plate crudely forced together. It is clearly unstable, a result of both the environment and perhaps the current spiritual storm as well. Still it needn't be stable, it need only to exist for a brief moment. Densagi pushes off, shattering the shoddy construct. As the gravity is pushing him upward, it meant that he needed to invert his thinking for a moment. Just as they are able to go against gravity to propel themselves upward from the ground with enough force, the inverse stands also true. So he jumps from the sky towards the ground, or in this case, towards Otokagi with lightning in hand.

Devoid of a tangible weapon while in Bankai, clad in armor instead as the bankai feeds on those around him, the orb itself typically becomes his weapon when Densagi has been scaled up enough. In his anger, his rage Densagi instead treats the lightning as the orb itself, the various bolts cackling furiously, squirming in his vice like grasp. He swings his arm, no longer paying any heed to anyone or anything.

The Seireitei had allowed his clan to be butchered with no resolution, no trial for the actions of the butcherer himself, as though he actions were naturally justified by all, without question. Their head states that the old man had no choice, and shouldn't be blamed yet when had the Kenpachi made an effort to come speak to Densagi? Had he truly considered him a friend, a comrade at any point then surely he must have known the pain Densagi was going through, but no. Otokagi had become the Kenpachi, had grown too large, too famous, too powerful to be bothered with small matters and people like him and his clan. Perhaps that is why he enlisted the aid of the Second Division's Captain to kill him, the task itself deemed beneath his efforts or notice.

Yes, there wasn't a single soul on his side, not one soul actually cared about him, or his family so why then should he care about them? He was certain that they would paint him the devil to others, the villain in this story. Very well, he'd make sure he was a devil worth remembering.

From behind Densagi tendrils of lightning continue to bombard downwards, and though their efforts seem in vain, they grow closer, flash brighter and faster, strike harder. The Shiba Avenger swings his arm, lightning in hand wielded like a blade. Even throughout the swing the stranded bolts expand in size in their master's grasp, writhe even wilder as the Bankai and Densagi grow even more.

As she observed even more of the matter, she witnessed the Captain of the second division releasing his bankai but that was also not the problem. No. The mass problem here was the devastation if Otogiri released his. From Nanami’s perspective, she saw his hand going toward his zanpakuto which was more indication for Nanami to get out of there. She didn’t want to get caught in the drama they got going on there but also did not want to die before she got at least to the rank of a lieutenant perhaps a Captain. Quickly she zoomed back to her barracks of the twelfth division knowing it was far away enough so she didn’t get the brunt impact of the bankai of the captains that could lead to destruction, death, and whatnot.

Upon arriving back to her division safe, she noticed a hoard of shinigami surrounding a particular area. Out of peak curiosity, she decided to inspect what was happening. There many of her underlings were gossiping about how a blue-haired female was lying on the ground who apparently wouldn’t wake up.

Unconciousgirl.png

Nanami managed to budge her division members and saw the young girl, she begged the question of why she was there. She looked around picked the girl up and slung the arm around her neck. She walked towards her small office and whilst she was heading towards her office, Nanami looked around to see if she still spotted the obnoxious fourth division member and her ill-tempered 5th seat Harai. Though she couldn’t spot them in her path. She spotted a division member and called him over to ask a favor.

“Hello dear, could you possibly go and find 5th seat Harai and tell her that I’m back and I have an unconscious girl in my office…”

“Yes, Ma’am of course!”

The unseated member scurried off to find the 5th seat who is known to have quite a sharp tongue. It did annoy Nanami a little since she felt her 5th seat could show more respect to her peers and underlings. Many underseats claimed to be afraid of the small red-haired woman due to her temper. She sighed softly wondering if the red-haired lady could ever be calm and respectful even though that was a quirk of hers. Soon enough Nanami reached for her office and slumped the blue-haired female on a couch she had in her office. She looked at the girl for a moment or two thinking if she could use her for experimentation for her latest device, though what good was it? She could easily find Nanami to be intrusive as well could always tell the head captain about that absurd behavior.

Nanami placed her Zanpakuto in a device she had created, this device of hers supposedly can make those who achieved Shikai gain their bankai. Of course, she could have lab rats for that, though knowing Nanami she prefers to test out her products on her to save the hassle of being nagged at by her peers. Bonus of this, she could be the first to achieve bankai via a machine. Before she turned on her machine, she went to her desktop and began to see the updates in the World of the Living, she hacked into every single CCTV in the World of Living. Nanami sometimes does this for entertainment purposes, she sometimes likes to watch some drama going on. One city caught her eye, Naruki. She zoomed into specific cameras, making the CCTV cameras go up, down, right, left right. Something caught her eye a figure with what they appeared to have long hair and broad shoulders

SpottedShini.png

Nanami zoomed more into it and saw the bone fragment, of course, she could only see this due to her being spiritually aware of this. Though she can’t distinguish details only the outlines of the spiritual being she can see the bone frag. This rang alarm bells for her, whether or not to inform the tenth was up to her, most times she’ll leave it to which she would just message the Captain Commander letting him know what it was.

“Update. I figured out what was that black hole in the skies over the WOTL. Garguntas. By looks of things, they have got powerful visitors.”

There she carried on what she was doing previously and started to activate the machine she hoped she could force her bankai to activate. She placed on a headgear and she closed her eyes. An image of a woman who was tall and had quite a revealing dress appeared in front of Nanami. What could this entail?
