Expectations weren’t exactly high, with Arrastrado that bar was always quite low, but this time he’d expected perhaps a bit more than what he had received. Strength is something that Arrastrado clearly lacks, at glance most can tell that. Perhaps it is this lack of power that makes his message fall upon deaf ears, or maybe it is simply a lack of faith in such an idea. Regardless, he stands idle whilst both Arrancar display their lack of faith in the idea and Arrastrado’s ability. A true shame.

Talks of a cycle witnessed by the old are followed by questions that should answer themselves.

"Disculpas. (Apologies.) I do not mean to stomp on your aspirations but that truly tickled my gut. I've longed for something more organized as such and yet I instead watched crowned heads roll one after another. Un ciclo. (A cycle.) And now I've come here for answers simply to be told it's all fucked, which is evident. You claim to want such a future but how do you plan on achieving it. Do you have the power to maintain such a movement? An army? A countermeasure against the ones who apparently left this place in such disarray that roaches are more common than lions?"

The continuation of a conversation that means nothing to Arrastrado is then followed by words that point out the obvious and the absurd.

”It’s obviously no way to live, living in fear that is. You there, armor guy, you have a neat dream but sadly I don’t trust you one bit. Unlike this one here you don’t exactly read as a threat. Which leads me to believe you’re a damn mouth piece for the next God King. Honeyed words of gold and riches. If you are a mouth piece for someone trying to revive the Espada system… Then, well to be blunt, I’m going to just tear you in half right here and now then go find your boss. I have frustrations to vent.”

Shifting of armour against itself and tapping against the floor is heart as Arrastrado takes a single step back, both arms raising up as his head shakes in denial. He is no stranger to threats, but that does not mean they do not affect him.

“I- I’m no pawn of any God King! You both know I’m no threat, you’ve made that clear enough… Do you think someone who intends to be God King would put their trust in me to come here? Do you think I want the return of the Espada, when I would never fit amongst their ranks?”

His position remains the same, one foot keeping further behind the other, prepared to take off at a moment's notice. Both arms are still raised mostly out of fear as he continues to explain himself. His head turns to Cayo, as he begins to address those questions.

“I don’t mean to insult anyone here, but these questions seem pointless. You both seem to want a similar fate for Hueco Mundo, and that is what I am banking on. Power? I don’t have it. An Army? Don’t have that either. Any plan against invaders? Nope. The reason I’m here is because I had hoped those who see the world similarly to myself might be onboard with aiming for something larger.”

His gaze now lands on Estarossa.

“This is a nice place you’ve put together, it truly is! If I didn’t want more, I’d probably settle for this and follow you around. But this place is held together by a single man, and whether or not it is clear to you, it is a combination of fear and joy that keeps this place as it is. Very few would be willing to break your rules, they fear losing their life. Awfully familiar sounding isn’t it?”

Another pace is taken back as those last words sound out into the air.

“The reason I am here is because I intend to make allies. My dream might be far beyond my grasp alone, but maybe, just maybe, with like-minded individuals, something may be achieved. In an idyllic world, where I manage something akin to what I want, I don’t intend to keep people in line out of fear. I don’t intend to force people into joining my dream, I would like to be a beacon for those who would seek something beyond the savagery. Of course I’m not blind, I understand the need for some sort of strength, there will always be someone who seeks to undo what had been built, and the need for protection against such things. If the strength of those who wish for that world is not enough to keep that dream afloat, then I will admit defeat and live as I have been.”

Finally his hands drop and his gaze switches back and forth between the two Arrancar before him. A bead of sweat rolls down along the side of his face as he does his best to analyze the following movements and responses of the two before him. Arrastrado is cautious by nature, and unfortunately being in this room is a gamble much like any other time he has tried to share his dream with others.

A commonality existed among the three discussing individuals: a yearning for a more drastic change to occur within the fragmented Hollow society. Yet, despite a solution seemingly falling into their laps before the two elder Arrancar through the aspirations of Arrastrado, scrutiny was to be had. Both Cayo and Estarossa expressed their own levels of skepticism toward the proposition. The timing was uncanny, among a slew of other things.

There had been claims in the past, attempts even at reform, and time had eroded those glints of change as contenders were crushed by ambition or ultimately cannibalized by their own trusted peers. It was not that building something new was an impossibility, but without a blueprint and a strong foundation, it, too, would degrade into nothingness. This could very well be the apex of such a forward path, but it could also just be another veiled attempt at a grab for power.

Amidst the cross-dissection, Estarossa elucidated upon the burden he had been carrying—the clouds that enshrouded his eyes. He spoke of the loss of friendship and how, in its absence, a forfeiture of freedom trailed behind. Those very tensions summoned the return of something so intrinsically tied to past trespasses... fear. The Slothful One had only ever considered La Soberania's patron to be at a loss from the desolate state of Hueco Mundo, not from a severance of alliances.

For Cayo, that sentiment had never truly left him; his time in slumber felt as though he had merely blinked into another era. Though he had snored his way through the more recent strife, he knew no real peace had existed in the interim. He could not entirely relate, but he still empathized with the notion.

”Go on, out with it. Are you someone's mouthpiece, or are you just a fool with lofty dreams and ideals? Hell, you’re a fool regardless of which choice you make, but at least one of those doesn’t make you a fool I want to kill.”

A valid conjecture, especially given the immaculate timing of it all.

“I- I’m no pawn of any God King! You both know I’m no threat, you’ve made that clear enough… Do you think someone who intends to be God King would put their trust in me to come here? Do you think I want the return of the Espada, when I would never fit amongst their ranks?”

His statements were half-believable. He could perhaps find promise in servitude to an Espada, even if he himself did not believe he belonged in their ranks. Given the state of the ravaged desert, Arrastrado might even find solace in that direction. Despite this train of thought, Cayo did not acknowledge that particular string of defensive questioning; instead, his focus remained glued to what came after.

A look of disbelief hung upon Cayo's visage, especially as the hopeful soul continued onward with their vision.
He felt as if this man was either blissfully ignorant or ignorantly blissful.

Further elaboration was evidently needed, and that realization coaxed a sigh from him.

"You miss the reasoning behind those 'pointless questions'." Cayo gestured loosely through the air, allowing his wrist to guide his hand back and forth dismissively. "It's not about a differing or matching desire; rather, you ought to have some... clarity when making proposals. You give us sticks and rocks and expect us to be on board for building a house whose shape exists only in your mind. I might envision a grand villa while you see nothing more than a shack."

His head tilted to the side as he continued his gaze toward Arrastrado.

"Voy a hacer de abogado del diablo. (I am going to play devil's advocate.) Maybe this is merely the genesis, and you possess no plan outside of those sueños (dreams) —ultimately expecting us to forge that future together. And perhaps we agree, and that works..."

His demeanor curdled into something far more intense, the very air seeming to gather weight as he continued.

"-But what if that honey is poisoned?" The atmosphere seemed to buckle further under the weight of the phrase. "You may find yourself to be meek, but it does not take a soldier to spike the well. What makes your future any more real than those of the ones who came before? Why should we go along with all of this? And what makes you so trusting of strangers, especially given that tail tucked between your legs? Again, it's not because I lack a similar desire, but instead that I've heard such things before."

"¡Órale!
(Come on!)
— He barked. — "What is the true worth of your world?"

The one thing that Arrastrado said that stuck out to Estarossa is how he tried to loosely connect his domain to that of Las Noches.

He was glaring a hole through him now, the way he prattled on like he had it all figured out. This squeamish man, who has barely lived a life, thinks it's wise to jest and poke at potential flaws or similarities within La Soberanía. This isn’t helping his bad mood in the slightest. Estarossa opened his mouth to speak, something rude was about to leave his lips until Cayo started speaking instead.

"You miss the reasoning behind those 'pointless questions'.

Estarossa decides to continue his silence since a man of reason is speaking.

"It's not about a differing or matching desire; rather, you ought to have some... clarity when making proposals. You give us sticks and rocks and expect us to be on board for building a house whose shape exists only in your mind. I might envision a grand villa while you see nothing more than a shack."

The death glare from Estarossa never left his face, he wanted Arrastrado to know just how upset he was with him. As Cayo continued talking Estarossa couldn’t help but notice the weight of the air, something that is utterly passive and easy to ignore has made itself very apparent. He looks towards Cayo, seeing how intense he is becoming. Perhaps fueled by frustration or anger, maybe both. With caution his eyes, no longer fixed in a glare, return to Arrastrado, wondering how he is handling this situation, if his tucked tail demeanor has him ready to retreat. But he won’t let him off easy, he hammers it in, adding pressure.

”Exile, that is what happens to those who break the rules. It seems like you don’t even know the rules of this place. No killing one another and no eating one another. The average desire for a Hollow are banned here. It is kept together by those who seek refuge from the sands, those who feel other urges besides the need for wanton violence. The only security or comfort I provide is that no other strong Arrancar or Hollow will attack this place so long as I live.”

Estarossa decides to stand up from his seat, thinking that maybe his seated and relaxed nature was giving the dream filled Arrancar more confidence than he deserves.

”You say you are here to seek allies but all you’ve been doing is irritating us. If I’m anything like the Espada you subtly claim me to be-”

Estarossa starts circling him, like a shark looming around its prey. A meal, a victim, that is what Arrastrado is beginning to look like to Estarossa.

-then you better start picking out better words to say to me, punk. Of course a God King would send disposable trash to speak for them, lets them gauge just who they are dealing with.

He stops circling and now Cayo is on one side of him and Estarossa is on the other, arms crossed and glaring at him once more.

”Sure, I want a better place in Hueco Mundo, why else would I carve out a small section of it for myself and others to enjoy? Your ambitions will draw ire, backstabbers, opportunists. You are trying to play a game of kings and if you haven’t noticed, here in Hueco Mundo it's a losing game, every time. Everything requires sacrifice. So, in alignment with the Old One there, what are you willing to sacrifice for this dream? Understand, your life is not a good enough answer for me.”

It seems like all three desire the same thing, but obviously there is apprehension and trust issues. Estarossa has something tangible, albeit small it is a place of peace. He stands to lose the most if he aligns with simple hopes and dreams, thoughts and prayers. Through all the hostility radiating in the room there is an underlying desire to understand, a desire to feed into a concept most Hollow would consider despicable: Hope.

The intentions of Arrastrado have been put out into the world, and with it, choice words of criticism. He has spoken nothing but his truth. He is well aware that part of what has been said is not pleasant to hear, infuriating even. He is a coward, he is weak, but even still he gambles and chases his goal with the potential of losing his life.

The fainthearted Arrancar stands before Cayo as he delves deeper into the purpose of his questions. Sweat rolling down his brow. He does not yet speak, thinking only to himself.

“I told you, I want something more than this…”

If they could peer into his mind, there is a building feeling of disappointment, but he listens on, hoping things shift for the better.

"Voy a hacer de abogado del diablo. (I am going to play devil's advocate.) Maybe this is merely the genesis, and you possess no plan outside of those sueños (dreams) —ultimately expecting us to forge that future together. And perhaps we agree, and that works..."

The building tension is not only a social one, but a physical one at this point, one that Arrastrado is visibly affected by. A shift in his stance, hoping to get a better footing. Hands curl into fists, the pointed tips of his gauntlets scratching into the palms of them, another sign of trying to maintain his composure and posture.

"¡Órale! (Come on!) — He barked. — "What is the true worth of your world?"

Once more the pressure increases, a visible buckling of his knees, followed by a sluggish recovery. Nothing makes his dreams more real than the ones who came before him, it is only a dream that he strives for with his life. Why should they follow? He had hopes that at the very least, Estarossa could see why, why he should strive for something more. It is not that he is so trustful of strangers, it is simply that he cannot achieve his dream on his own. Arrastrado understands that there is no path forward alone, not for him.

Estarossa now stands and begins encircling Arrastrado, each step the man takes feels as though both Cayo and Estarossa are pounding atop his shoulders. Each step pushes the feeble Hollow to one knee, hands planted to the floor as he tries to stand himself back up. The clinking and creaking of his armour sounds out more than ever as eventually, he pushes himself back up, as Estarossa is speaking.

The laws of La Soberanía’s is partially what Arrastrado is banking on at this point. A basis that can be built upon, not to replace this place, to accompany it. There are few figures within Hueco Mundo as known as Estarossa, and he is a man known for delving into his more human urges. He is also a prideful man, that much is proven with the very explanation he has just given. That pride too is something he is going to rely on.

”You say you are here to seek allies but all you’ve been doing is irritating us. If I’m anything like the Espada you subtly claim me to be then you better start picking out better words to say to me, punk. Of course a God King would send disposable trash to speak for them, lets them gauge just who they are dealing with.”

Both men before Arrastrado continue to harp on the potential of him being sent by a God King. Cayo is right, it doesn’t take a soldier to spike the well. Estarossa however attempts to hammer in a nail with no point.

“Gauge who they’re dealing with? Me? If I wasn’t facing down the reaper I’d laugh.”

He has stated it, as have the other two, he is weak. If he could he would laugh not at the statement, but the thought of trying to gauge the strength of Estarossa with someone like Arrastrado. He is a well known figure, old and powerful, and glued to his ideals. There is no need to gauge such a man.

Standing between the two, under the pressure of both he drags his feet across the floor, not to escape, but to do his best to face the two of them. A shaky figure, soaked in his own sweat, his heart beating faster than it ever has before. A forced smile curls along his lips, wobbly but present.

“I understand the caution, I understand the irritation. I said before, I have none of the requirements to make this dream a reality.” An audible gulp can be heard from him. “You ask me what makes this dream any different than others before me? Why should you go along with it? You said it’s a losing game, and I am sure you’re right. Why am I so trusting of strangers? What can I sacrifice?”

His gaze attempts to meet that of the other two.

“This dream of mine, you both share it, those who come to La Soberanía for refuge, they too share it. That is the first step, like-minded individuals who are willing to cooperate towards a greater goal. Evolution is in our very nature, progression. Hueco Mundo has been stagnant for so long, longer than I can imagine, I’m certain. The ones that came before, they are a sign of that nature. Those who enforce this stagnation are a curse upon the Hollow as a whole. In the event that I don’t lose my life here, in the event that we do end up working together, I don’t expect or ask that you abandon your own ambitions. This place, it truly is a delight, I’m not here to ask you to abandon it for something else, I’m not here to integrate into something else. If my dreams are to ever come to fruition, I would like to accompany La Soberanía with something else.”

As he speaks of his perceived nature of Hollow-kind and Hueco Mundo, the smile he wears seems to falter bit by bit, until he catches himself, doing his best to force that smile back up.

“Somewhere where people can live a different life beyond the cruel sands. I’m certain there are those who seek a different life, but cannot find their place amongst your section of Hueco Mundo, it is not for them. Somewhere that violence is not the only option, instead they can carve out their own life.” His gaze turns specifically to Estarossa. “Imagine if there were someone out there who simply wants to become a chef, or something like that, give them a place to call home and you can have all the treats you’d like.” A creaky turn of his neck faces him towards Cayo now. “I apologise, I don’t really know you so I cannot make an apt comparison for you, but I am sure there is something. Of course I don't expect you to go along with me just because of food and such, just an example...”

Finally he comes to his closing statement, Arrastrado is almost certain that his words so far will do nothing to sway the two before him. So his final words will have to make or break the situation. The smile drops from his quivering lips entirely. A brief pause.

“I cannot sacrifice something I do not have, so if my life is not enough, fine. Instead, I’ll put your pride on the line, I will put the laws of La Soberanía on the line. Kill me here and now. Another dream to the dusts. A flash in your life that meant nothing more, or perhaps a missed opportunity. I am not so trustful of strangers as I might seem, I am simply making a foolishly hopeful gamble.”
