And So It Shall Be Done

Like clockwork, the hands reached the same point once more. A silent hand grasped at the strings that dangled from the skies of the Soul Society, and once more that same hand would reach again. Though this time, it aimed not just at one result, but two. The ghostly presence divided its intention among the remainder of the spiritually acclimated...

The Quincy and the Hollows were next in the individual's sights.

Just as they had emerged without even the slightest tell in the Seireitei, that would repeat itself within the living world. Their cloaked shape moved along the paved streets of Karakura, unseen by mortals and undetectable to those far more perceptive. A steady walk guided them forward, garnished by a rather colorful display of movements.

It was as if they were gleefully frolicking—prancing, even—as they drew a weapon once more into their hand: that same blade as before. And so rang out that glint once more, and the fragmented spiritual presence clung to the air just as it did in the Shinigami afterworld. Its signature was insignificant, appearing and fading in the same instant.

This repeated twice more in different locales—once more on the opposite side of Karakura and another time later in Naruki. A sensation of disconnection breached the minds of some unfortunate souls. At first, it was nothing more than vertigo, but in time, their anchor would be lost and something wicked would flourish from the separation.

The shrouded soul admired the sword within their grasp, gently sliding a set of fingers along the glimmering steel. Its song grew silent, but the applause in response would be heard soon enough.

"To think they'd allow for something like this to go unchecked for so many years." Their words were almost melodic, yet they were coated in an unyielding malice. "And what's even more ironic is... That something from the beginning of this facade will pave the way to the end."

Just as their words concluded, a phantom threat fell upon the unaware residents walking by with no worry in the world, the weapon was sheathed once again. The obscured one outstretched their arms and looked to the sky, as if welcoming the first rain after a long drought, a twisted grin spreading across their face.

"As above, so below, as within, so without, as the universe, so the soul...”

A poem slipped from their curved lips, preluding not a silent exit, but one with a horrific message. In the moments following this unheard rambling, a slaughter would take place. One not of a human or even that of a Soul Reaper; instead, it was a Quincy that would meet such an ill fate. Their body carved into and hollowed out, discarded within an alleyway of Naruki. There was no apparent fight or at least no sign of what laid on the other side of a potential conflict. In fact, any evidence pointed only to the momentary retaliation of the Quincy. There was no other spiritual signature and only minor damage to the surrounding area. Whatever had gotten to them left little time for recourse. All that remained was a peculiar series of black globules that rose to the heavens before dissipating. And above the corpse stood but one phrase written in the victim's own blood:

THEY'RE LYING TO YOU.
