Kazuki did not merit Captain Date anymore response or reaction, the cunt as so elegantly put by his captain didn't deserve as much. Saying everything that he wanted to say and that needed to be said. At that time the shinigami from the 12th will shout towards Kazuki:

"You are wrong and right Lieutenant, a Zanpakuto is a part of us but they are their own being. They have their desires, wants, ambitions, and personalities that can even be opposites of the shinigami. Every relationship differs as no bond in this world is the same."

Kazuki didn't turn his head to respond as his focus was on the captains. Not that it mattered as through his reikoku, he would feel both strangers vanish from the barracks with not a trail or trace to follow. He was happy to debate with the shinigami if they were ever meet again. As the relationship of Shinigami and their zanpakutos was always a interesting topic to pursue and explore. Yet after the two vanished, it was clear to see that the fight has already stopped. Sighing in annoyance, he sheathed his blade and now had his gaze fully glued onto both Captain and Lieutenant of the 11th division. He wasn't as invisible as he believed to himself to be or to be ignored as both their presense was already a eyesore. Depsite this being their first encounter. He observed as Date was about to speak, before a black cicada landed on his shoulder, a unusual creature that Kazuki has never seen before. No one else seemed to elicit a response or reaction as Date's expression changed. Was that bug similar to a Jigokuchō, there was nothing in Shinigami reports about it? Or was it like his wolf, a special creature of his clan? Whatever it was, it was worth investigating as things not registered with shinigami regulations was either of merit or trouble, maybe the 12th will know something about it. Not elicting a reaction, he watched as Captain Date announced that he changed his course from the 5th to the 3rd division.

Watching as he activated his Shikai and flew off on his Ink koi fish. His shoulders easing tension as the bastard left, but not before leaving a foul taste in Kazuki's mouth. A man like that as captain, did not sit well for him. For one that preached that all are cogs that must be useful or be replaced, he seemed to break his own rules. Going to other divisions and barking orders at them was outside of his juristiction, eliciting a unsanctioned duel between captains, disturbing the duties of another division, this will all be written in his paperwork. He was about to turn to handle the training of the troops until...

“Well that was weird. Kazuki, I’ll be leaving for a while and while I’m gone you’ll be in charge of squad ten”

Kazuki didn't reaction, waving his hand nonchantly as that was to be expected. As Captain and Lieutenant, they shared responsibilities. Beside it was not the first time Captain Izanagi has left for business of his own whims. Then the next words made him mentally facepalm, especially of it all being said in front of the 11th division Lieutenant.

"Next time captain... tell your plans and thoughts in private please. If anything comes up, I will inform you, but like always I'll be fine."

For a moment he will stop and glare directly at Yurei. Even before he uttered the word of Disgusting from his lips, a expression upon his face. As if saying, "oh you're still here. what do you want?" Yet he didn't do anything and just left. To where Kazuki wasn't sure, but to his captain most likely. After Izanagi left for the Rukongai, Kazuki wrote a letter and gave it to one of the seated officers. Including his wareabouts and what his commands are while he is gone. He was thinking about sending one to captain Izanagi, but less information passed around the better. Then using his shunpo he will leave and head for the thirteenth division. To warn them of Date's eventual arrival and to slowly foster a bond. Date's ego and control over other divisions still irked Kazuki, acting as if he was the captain-commander. So to counter his control, his dominion the true captains and lieutanants must be united. The captainless divisions must be protected, to project true unity to uphold the peace and balance of seireitei, rukongai and the human world. After the thirteenth, he may go to the third after Captain Date has left and then the fifth. Maybe even the rukongai, something was stirring and he didn't like it.

Silence, before a ring of dust appeared in the courtyard of the 10th barracks. Pushing outwards with Kazuki standing in the middle, a grimace drawn upon his usual stotic face. He just returned from the 3rd squad's barrack, skipping a visit to the 13th. Though a certain good boy will deliver a message, warning the 13th division of captain Date's arrival. They were instructed to receive him and keep in contact with Kazuki of his actions.

Meanwhile Kazuki returned to his office and started on the paperwork concerning the 10th division. Before settling upon the paperwork for captain Date's misdeeds and blatant rule breaking. Yet once he finished, he paused and rested his hand on the stack of papers. Was it the right time to do this or was more evidence required? Doing this will put a target on his back and the squad he served under. More so it will put a target on all captainless squads Date thought he held dominion over... no it was not yet time. He was only a mere lieutenant from a diminished clan against a captain of a noble clan. For now the files will stay hidden and he will gather allies and form Alliances. The seireitei is in shambles, a shadow of it’s former self. Especially after the death of so many Captains and shinigami, the civil war that shouldn't have happened. What the seireitei needed now was not the necessary evil with a ego, but neutral protector that does want is best for all without prejudice.

At the time of finishing his paperwork, he would hear at knock at his door.

"Sazanami sir, shinigami from 3rd squad have arrived for the joint training session."

"I will be out to address them soon, get everyone ready."

The shinigami bowed and left Kazuki once more to his thoughts. Sighing, he pulled out his zanpakuto and sliced his palm.

"Lament thy night, mourn thy soul, Kyoki Chizuki."

The shikai will form as he created a pool blood beneath his feet. Taking the pile of paper and dumping it into the pool, the contents slowly sinking in the pool of reiatsu. Then just as quickly the shikai was dismissed, the pool of reiatsu along with the papers were gone. Now the question of whether it could be retrieved is another story, but his tracks were at least covered. Then calmly he walked out to stand before both shinigami of the 10th and 3rd.

"Thank you all for gathering tonight. Please, I expect all shinigami of the 10th to make our brothers and sisters of the third feel welcome within our barracks. We have suffered immense losses, felt grief like no other, but to not let those who fallen fade away into obscurity. We must keep on and immortalize the fallen through our actions, the actions of those left behind, us who live on. Today I expect you all to give it your all in this training. Us keepers of peace and balance, we wolves united, hold nothing back!"

"YES SIR!"

All the shinigami shouted with roaring passion as they instantly broke into pairs. The sound of sparring overwhelmingly filling the courtyard of the 10th barracks. Especially the member of the 3rd as their was fire lit within them. The words back at their barracks still stoking the embers of their frustration and rage. At losing their captain and not even being able to defend his memorial/legacy from being defaced and desecrated. Kazuki stood there as one of the seat officers approached him and put a hand on his shoulder.

Kazuki looked at him and gave a subtle nod. Continuing to oversee the training as a thought came to him. He was content being a lieutenant to a wonderful division, but now he felt something more calling to him. Many divisions were captainless, they needed exceptional shinigami leading them... what if.... no no that would be presumptuous of him. Yet...... what if...

The training went as well as it could have, both divisions with their pride laid bare sparred to their fullest extent. Some got a bit overzealous in showing their skill or determination, but it was quickly quelled. When needed Kazuki would step in and stop the finishing blow, scolding softly the shinigami that was to execute it. Reminding them that the purpose of the training was not to needlessly harm one another, but to improve one's skill and martial prowess. Often he would stop the bouts and educate both divisions about essential Zanjutsu techniques, explaining that every part of the zanpakuto is a weapon, not just the blade. From using the Kashira of the handle to the shealth to stun or surprise a opponent. Even demostrating Hakura techniques that can be used in tandem with Zanjutsu or even when drawing ones blade is not possible for one reason or another.

Eventually the joint-training session slowed down and ended with the third division returning to their barracks. One of the seated officers bowed towards Kazuki, thanking him for reaching out in such difficult times.

"The Seireitei needs more Shinigami like you, Sazanami-san. Too many good shinigami perished, not enough are stepping up to replace those we lost. Thank you for looking out for the third division, we won't soon forget this."

Kazuki nodded, his face remaining unresponsive as one by one the shinigami of the third left the 10th division barracks. With the training now complete, he oversaw the switching of patrols for Naruki city. Once that was done, he address the ones who just came back from Naruki city.

"Welcome back from your patrols, get some food, get some rest. Then those who don't have any duties to attend to, head to the shunpo training site. Today you will do 4 laps on the course and 2 sets of 2 men shunpo chases. Then you can go about your duties as needed. That is all."

"SIR!"

With that Kazuki waited till the crowd dispersed and went into his office. Leaving a letter behind for the seated officers as he left to go to the East Rukongai, back to his origins, the 45th district - Maijū (Dancing beast). He needed to tend to his own training, to become stronger for not just himself, but all those who he is responsible for. Without a sound, he disappeared from the office with only a dust cloud being left behind.

>>>>>>>>>>>Back to the Southwest where its the best>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Jushiro Izanagi, Captain of the tenth division, arrived back into the Seireitei after his recent expedition to the Rukongai. The Captain immediately started to move in the general direction of the tenth. His route also presented him with the option of a detour before making it back to the tenth division barracks. The masked one decided to take the detour which would bring him to the grounds of the eleventh division barracks. Jushiro’s appearance tells the story of a man that's been hard at work. And it was from either intense training or fighting a battle. Only his hoari covered the top half of his body, as he walked around with his chest bare for onlookers to see. His body was in peak condition and that was easy to tell. A thing to be marvelled at and also to be expected of a Captain who intended on leading by example. His Zanpakuto was carried on his left hip, while a bag containing his belongings was slung across his back. His hair seemed wild and unkempt, far from his usual well presented look. The tassels on his high collared haori danced as the man maintained his pace. His mask had a grin painted across its surface as he pondered about what his next move would be.

The masked one was desperate to return to his division barracks and freshen up. Then there were also the stories that surely awaited him, especially those to be told by his Lieutenant. Before those stories could be told, he had the sudden urge to go forth and see the operations of his neighbouring division. The eleventh division which is captained by Taro Date. Jushiro was careful enough to keep his Reiatsu levels at a minimum as he approached the eleventh division barracks. To take it even further, Jushiro decided to utilise a bakudo spell to mask his presence. ‘Bakudo 26: Kyokkō-Bent Light’. The kido spell hid the physical form and reiatsu around Izanagi by bending the light around him. He wanted to infiltrate and observe his neighbours in their natural habitat before making his presence known.

Arrival

Jushiro finally reached the entrance to the eleventh division, stood outside for a few moments while observing the guards at the gate. They hadn’t picked up on his presence nor did they perceive that something might be off. As such he proceeded inside the barracks unimpeded and without alerting others to his presence. The man maintained a casual stroll while taking in the information that his eyes perceived. The division grounds seem to be well maintained which is what he would expect of Captain Date. And in general, the division members appear to be going about their task really well. It reminded Jushiro of his own division and how they too were rather efficient. Nevertheless, the masked one was seeking something, perhaps a few innocent and unsuspecting individuals to torment.

As well drilled as they are, oftentimes you will find a few slackers, that was inevitable. To describe it as slacking off may be doing them a disservice. Lets just say they were taking a breather, a bit of respite from the Taro regime. There they were, a small group of seven all appearing to have a meet and greet. A light hearted interaction with moments of laughter, teasing and chit chat. Jushiro didn’t think members of the eleventh were allowed such luxuries. And maybe it was his duty to remind them of such things? At present they seemed to not have a care in the world, their backs turned to the Captain whom they remained unaware of.

“Ah lookie here, I found some victims”. The man thought as he approached with an unseen grin plastered across the surface of the mask. It was now show time and the masked Captain needed his game face. Moments like these were precious, he knew exactly what he wanted to do. And so like a Jaguar stalking its prey, Jushiro was ready to pounce as he quietly snuck upon the group. But before he could reveal himself he had to get in character. The masked one had to transform himself into another person. Jushiro now needed to adapt the traits of the ‘man’. Oh boy, here we go. Hopefully he could pull it off. There he was perfectly positioned behind the group about to become his victim. Let's countdown to the shenanigans that were about to occur. Five, four, three, two and one. The bakudo spell which kept him hidden began to undo itself as per his doing. It was from top to bottom as his words flowed from his lips.

“Why are you cogs not in formation? And don’t even turn around to soil my being with your unwanted gaze. Cogs should only do as they’re told, now form up you undeserving maggots”.

Jushiro Izanagi’s voice mimicked that of Captain Date's. It was almost pitch perfect. But to their surprise they did not even comprehend what was happening. At the sound of the voice, they perceived it to be Captain’s Date. This was evident when a member of the small group with short black hair and a diagonal scar on his face yelped and leapt into the arms of another member of the group. It was comical to watch it unfold but it was fear that moved them. However embarrassing it was, they formed up as per the instructions given. Facing away from the masked one as to not dare look in his direction, Izanagi almost broke character as he stood there truly astonished. Amazingly, they didn’t even yet perceive that the Reiatsu of the imposter Captain was different to Taro’s. None of this had yet to register at all.

“If you have time to sit idly by and gossip then every spec of this barracks must be cleaned. You with the blue hair, go and make me some tea. As a matter of fact don’t bother, you Rukongai scum would not know what proper tea is. you’d mistake muddied water for tea if it were served to you in a fancy dish”.

“Yes Sir! Sorry Sir! We know not what good tea is, Sir, Captain Date!”.
The poor lot was a nervous wreck, in the meantime though, Izanagi’s mask created the same facial expression that Captain Date normally carried. Eyes closed, purple shadow patch suggesting he suffered from a lack of sleep. The irony being that his eyes are almost always closed. A smile of deception which can lead to confusion. Izanagi sees through such things, he deems it a facade, one that was easy to mimic.

“You seven have shown yourself to be the cesspool of the Eleventh Division. Your mothers were whores and your Rukongai scummy sisters were semen depositories. Kneel before your mighty Captain”. It was perhaps a little too far but these are words Izanagi could imagine Taro saying. That and Izanagi had used words that Taro once spoke to him. Which is probably why we was able to keep the ruse up for so long.

By now the other division members in the area had caught on to what was happening. The group of seven individuals were terrified, cold sweats washing over them. And yet the others around them were beginning to cackle? Their laughter grew louder after realising what Izanagi was putting them through. Slowly they too came to the realization that it wasn’t Captain Date. Izanagi on the other hand started to giggle before commanding the group to face him.

“At ease you scallywags. You can turn around now”. The group breathed a sigh of relief as other division members drew closer to the Captain. While Izanagi was pretending to be Captain Date, his demeanour and mannerisms changed to match those of Taro’s. And since the time he arrived at the barracks, his senses remained sharp. Despite all the fun he was having, he was also on the lookout too.

“It’s you, Captain of the tenth division, Jushiro Izanagi. You scared us just then, we thought you were him”. Jushiro simply giggled before falling silent. A fox grin was now painted across the surface of the mask. He took the time to look around at the members of the division.

“Where is Captain Date? He said I should come by for some tea. He promised to serve it in fancy cups and dinner in fancy dishes”. The fox grin painted on the mask changed to an expression of disappointment as the man sighed.

“Captain Date is not here. We don’t know where he went. Did you want to wait for him?”.

“I think I will, point me to his office”.
A strange thing, they were confused at the notion of Captain Date inviting anyone for tea. But who were they to deny a Captain or even refuse a Captain’s orders? Izanagi proceeded towards the Captain Date’s office as soon as he was shown where it was. And so off he went to see what was inside. Once there Jushiro opened the door to the office and looked around before entering. The office seemed to be very tidy as such it was only right that he did something accidentally on purpose. Oops. There goes some paperwork mysteriously falling from the desk and onto the floor. Izanagi even tested the furniture and ornaments for dust. And to his surprise there was dust. “Captain Date you unclean bastard. Dust is unacceptable by your standard”. The man thought with a fox grin adorning the surface of the mask. But before he could leave, Izanagi decided to leave a message.

“I came by for some tea that wasn’t muddy water but you weren't here. Your office is a little dusty. PS. I like good sake too. Until next time, from your best friend. Oh one more thing, your cogs are not that special. They smell”. The message was left on a piece of paper on the desk. And with that the masked one would proceed to leave the office. But not before reading through some of the paperwork.

“Had Kazuki been here he would probably be facepalming, shaking his head and possibly lecturing me. Like Captain, what are you doing? You shouldn’t be doing such a thing blah blah blah. I’m glad he aint here. He would just ruin my fun”. Izanagi thought as he headed towards the exit. It was time to return to the tenth division. That’s of course if we were uninterrupted.

>>>>>>>>Travelling to the 10th Division>>>>>>>>>>>

Home sweet home. The masked one was finally back at the tenth division barracks. Fresh from his escapades at the 11th division barracks. The Captain was his usual mischievous self but there was another meaning behind his visit. Despite his jovial disposition while at the 11th division. Izanagi really wanted to see Captain Date’s operation for himself. Just how ready were they should war come to the doorsteps of the Seireitei? Based on what the masked one could see, Captain Date had the right idea. So too did the tenth division and hopefully soon the thirteenth division should be the same way. It was however satisfying impersonating Taro Date.

Witnessing the reaction of his squad members was both funny and eye opening. Both Taro and Izanagi had set the standards. It mattered not that their personalities and way of doing things are far different from each other. At the end of the day they all had one goal and that was protecting the Soul Society. Here he was now standing outside the entrance to the barracks. He was welcomed by the guards who were quick to acknowledge him. The masked one decided not to cause any commotion and instead proceeded inside.

Instead of a brisk walk to see how everything was progressing. Izanagi opted to utilize flash steps to take him to his quarters much faster. Capable of travelling quite a distance with only a single step and at tremendous speeds. The masked one is a master of the art of course. As such effortlessly performing such a task was no issue. Finally the Captain was back at his office and was desperate for a bath. Putting his things away, Izanagi removed his Hoari, feeling the cool air caress his bare torso. The windows to his office being opened invited the wildlife around the division grounds.

A pair of birds perched on the windowsill while others sang their sweet song in the trees outside. The mask on his face remained blank, emotionless which also reflected Izanagi’s current state. If anything he was glad to be back and his mind was now on getting things in order. He also needed to have a chat with his Lieutenant, Kazuki. The news that the man had brought the thirteenth under their supervision was merely the first step. The masked one had his sights set on other things but realised it will take some time.

Before any of that could be done, he first needed to freshen up. Let’s hit the showers! Picking up his Zanpakuto, the Captain took it with him and proceeded to his bathing quarters.

Some time later.

Jushiro Izanagi found himself relaxing in his seat, leaning back in his chair with several things on his mind. His long silver hair hangs with some locks of hair sitting on either side of his chest. The black mask had a smile drawn across it, changing ever so slightly in tandem with his thoughts and expression which lies beneath. A pair of black earrings with white markings dangled from his ears. His golden eyes of course hidden behind the mask staring into nothingness. The man now sporting a high collared Captain’s Haori with red trimmings on it. Green tassels attached to his Haori with sleeves which only reached the forearm of the Captain. Underneath the Hoari, Izanagi sported the standard Shihakusho with green materials stitched onto it. The style of his Shihakusho made it so that parts of his chest and abdomen were on show. He also wore a pair of black fingerless gloves which extended up the forearm where they meet the sleeves to his Haori. His Shihakusho was also sleeveless which would expose his arms should he remove his Haori. The man also sports a green sash around his waist. And finally a pair of black tabi sandals adorned his feet. On his left and next to his hand sat his Zanpakuto within arms reach.

Izanagi sat up in his seat now wondering what was taking Kazuki so long to return to the tenth. Then again, he didn’t exactly tell the man that he was back. Izanagi for now would read through the various reports on his desk. Thankfully they had everything well organized, making it easy for him to sort through it all.

Kazuki Post.jpg

With a puff of dust, Kazuki appeared in the courtyard of 10th barracks. Instantly he will confirm his thoughts as quite easily he would sense his captain within his office. The other shinigami will give their lieutenant a side glance before returning to their tasks and duties. They were used to him flickering in and out of the barracks, he was a known workaholic and best to not be disturbed when on duty. If he needs them, he will address them, so they returned to do as he trained them to do. Kazuki will slightly nod in satisfaction, before walking towards the office, his arm resting on his zanpakuto. The sound of his sandals on the gravel and stone, until it audibly switched to the groaning of wood with each step. He wanted to announce his presence, even if the captain would have noticed him by now by his reiatsu signature. As well as there need for a show of his Shunpo, when it was only a few steps away.

He would walk to the open door and lean against a beam as he knocked against it. Talking a glance at his captain's new garbs with one eyebrow raised, before clearing his throat.

"Captain Izanagi, Lieutenant Sazanami reporting. I have returned from the 13th, their revival in progress, patrols optimized, and morale lifted. They have a long way to go from being fodder, but it's a start."

If Izanagi will look up from his paperwork, he will see his loyal and hardworking shinigami. As well as a new scar on his sword arm, a full circle around the bicep. Exactly where Date ripped up his arm and the 4th division reattached it before Kyoki could heal it fully. He would cross his arms and continue leaning against the beam as he now looked outside into the courtyard.

" I hope whatever called you to the Rukongai was fruitful. In other concerns, is there anything delievered in my message you wish to address, Captain?"

The Senkaimon of Tenth Division opens up, the guards on duty turn to look at it only to see a smaller woman with dark blue hair walk out of it. She walks out and gives a casual wave, not even so much as a bow is done as she speaks to them.

”Sup.”

She continues to trot on when one of the guards shouts at her.

”Kuwashii Hakunetsu!! Where have you been!?”

She stops and a cold chill runs down her spine, so much time has been spent in the living world that she forgot her manners completely. She quickly bows and apologizes profusely.

”Forgive me! I’m sorry! I know things in the living world have been quiet and slow but I’m maintaining my normal schedule! If I deviate from it I’ll feel like a slacker!”

The guards look at each other and sigh, seeing how panicked she was after remembering her surroundings. Luckily it seems like she has not entirely forgotten her duty as a Shinigami.

”I’m assuming you are here to drop off your weekly report? You’re in luck, the Captain just returned to the Barracks.”

”Yes, and thank you! I’ll make my way to him as quickly as possible!”

With that she turns and begins running off towards the Captain’s Reiatsu signature. Her gaze narrows, annoyed with herself for suddenly folding the way she did to the Senkaimon guards. It upsets her slightly that they act like her superior when they have never had to put their life on the line against a Hollow outside of a controlled environment. All she could really do is smack her teeth and continue her jog to the Captain. Kuwashii isn’t one to disrespect ranks as she respects her Captain and Lieutenant a lot, as she should since they are higher up on the rank ladder and stronger than her. But she doesn’t know where she stands in terms of rank, Guardian of Naruki. It sounds fancy and important, which it is, but she doesn’t know who is or isn’t allowed to talk down to her. She takes her job too seriously for that, puts herself at too much risk, albeit not much recently due to the decreased amount of Hollow encounters. All she can do is sigh and the thought as her job decreases to a brisk walk and eventually to a defeated stroll. She wants to be strong, and has dreams of being the strongest Shinigami. Just like the Stars in space she wants to be peerless and seen by all but as of late she has made no strides in growing stronger, no attempts at growing her strength outside of fighting trivial Hollow threats.

While her walk was one of defeat her head remained held high, something most would consider a trait of arrogance from the girl but she is never one to let her head be hung low for any reason. Even if her mood is low she keeps her head up because in her mind even the dimmest Star is unfathomably hot. She continues her stride, searching her mind for answers on what she needs to do next and she finds it and the confidence. She begins to jog again with a frown of confidence on her face and that jog quickly breaks into a Shunpo. While it was fast it was nothing head turning, most of her fellow Division mates turned to watch her pass then continued on with what they were doing. A few minutes later she arrives at her Captains office, a stern look on her face to boot.

She stomps in, appearing as nothing more than a haughty teenager, ready to throw a tantrum. She stops, bows to the Lieutenant and her Captain before speaking.

”Captain! I, Kuwashii Hakunetsu, want a seated position! I don’t care if it's the lowest seat in the Division or if I have to spar someone for it! I- Oh!”

She stops mid rant and hands him her written report.

”Things remain quiet in Naruki, I encountered a very few Hollows but they were really weak like… Academy students could have killed them, type weak. No sign of Estarossa or anyone that seems to be looking for human food based snacks. Sadly, that's all I have to report.”

She bows once more then clears her throat.

”Ahem! Now like I was saying! I want to get stronger! I’m sick of being looked down on! There is no reason anyone should look down on a Star! And sorry if I interrupted your conversation!”

The girl must have given them a verbal and mood whiplash as she went from being loud and obnoxious to respectful and dutiful then right back to being loud. She wanted to make her point and presence known to the Captain and Lieutenant about what she wanted. Her track record only has her cleaning up Hollows out of the world of the living and aside from that she has no notable feats all that is known about her Zanpakuto is that it’s fire based and that she uses it sparingly in combat. She awaits her superiors' responses with baited breath, hoping something, anything, will come out of this.

The wait felt like an eternity while Izanagi sat waiting in his office. The Captain found himself in a strange situation, so much so that he didn’t even have the presence of mind to brew any beverage. It was unlike the masked one to find himself in such a predicament. This will need correcting in the moments to come. As if on queue, Izanagi took note of Kazuki’s arrival at the barracks. His spiritual pressure gave it away prompting a smirk to the face of the Captain. He figured more or less that Kazuki would visit his office but he couldn’t be too certain. He had much to discuss with his Lieutenant, since it would appear that quite a lot has happened in his absence.

Izanagi chuckled at Kazuki’s words as the Lieutenant gave a brief overview of a report. The masked one leaned back in his seat and brought his eyes forth to have a quick scan of Kazuki. The scar around the arm and yet something felt different.

“Fodder”. He uttered with a grin being drawn across the surface of the Captain’s mask. The use of such a word reminded Izanagi of another person. Enough for the man to ponder whether or not certain habits had rubbed off on Kazuki. “Fodder. You’re beginning to sound a lil too much like Captain Date. I suppose though, if they don’t want to be seen as fodder or mere cogs, then it's best they get their asses in gear. Either way, I’m glad that you went forth with our plans. With that said, our work is only just beginning. The thirteenth was simply the first”. He stated in response to Kazuki. It was Jushiro Izanagi’s ambition to have all the leaderless squads under his command. Only then could he ever hope to prepare the Gotei squads for the horrors to come. But before he could set forth any further plans, he did need a full report on what happened between Kazuki and Captain Date.

“As for my trip, I would say it was fruitful indeed. Maybe one of these days you’ll see what I mean. Now then, I need all the information concerning yourself and Captain Date. Don’t leave anything out, I want to know how many clouds there were and even if the birds were chirping”. Izanagi gave Kazuki enough time to digest what was said and to give a response to his request. Several minutes would go by before another party made their presence known. Izanagi could feel the familiar Reiatsu from that time back in Naruki City. It was imprinted like the signatures of many of whom were memorised by the Captain. Come to think of it, Izanagi hadn’t interacted with the young woman in quite some time. Everything in Naruki City had been so quiet that it was almost pointless having any Shinigami presence.

Izanagi tracked Kuwashii’s trajectory as she made her way towards his office. The masked one observed Kuwashii on her arrival, her demeanour, appearance and general attitude. The Captain remained silent as it appeared that Kuwashii had a few things on her mind. Upon hearing what sounded like Kuwashii demanding a seated position. The black mask simply painted the word “NO” across its surface for all to see. Izanagi seemed unbothered by Kuwashii's words. It was like a parent refusing to give into the demands of a spoiled brat.

He chose not to interrupt Kuwashii out of sheer amusement for her approach. She was the same as when they first met, loud and full of vigour. And at the same time very respectful to her superiors. As Kuwashii continued to speak, most of the report affirms what they’ve known for quite some time. No Arrancar presence and Hollow activity was at a minimum. The ‘No’ was soon wiped away and replaced by a fox grin. The Captain sighed before tilting his head to the left while addressing Kuwashii.

“To think you would barge in here after so long making such demands. Your petulance seems to know no bounds. I should punish you for being so careless with your actions”. Izanagi then stood up and moved from behind his desk while walking ever so slowly to have a gaze outside his window. The fox grin was maintained despite the seriousness in his tone. A personality trait of the Captain which often brings confusion.

“I do, however, agree that you need to get stronger and appreciate your desire for such things. As for this promotion to a seated position, you will have to work for it. Kazuki here is all about transforming regular folk from useless fodder into something worth having around”. His words were more so hinting at the phrase used by Kazuki earlier and its implications. Izanagi moved closer to Kazuki and Kuwashii, standing a mere metre apart from them.

“So you want to get stronger eh? I propose a sparring session between you and Lieutenant Kazuki. I need to see your strengths and weaknesses. Said sparring session will consist of the use of Shunpo, Kido, Hakuda and Zanjutsu techniques. I also wish to see how competent you are with your Shikai if you’ve managed to reach that level. Now then children, I’m gonna make some tea, so make your way to the training area where I’ll join you shortly. Ta ta now”.

It will only take the Captain a few minutes to complete his brew, by which time Kazuki and Kuwashii should’ve warmed up. Thinking back, the first time Izanagi met Kuwashii he was third seat of the tenth division. A lot has changed in the eighteen months since their meeting in Naruki City. The sparring session was more about assessing Kuwashii’s talents and capabilities. He can only hope that she didn’t hold back.

>>>>>ARRIVING FROM THE NORTHEAST DISTRICT TO THE SOUTHWEST DISTRICT>>>>>

As luck would have it, it was then that the freshly awakened Captain Kurayami materialized into existence just before the gates of the tenth division. There, startled by this, two guards took a protective stance and lifted their hands in protest which caused Shizukana to come to a complete stop in her gentle stroll. No doubt the Captain seeking her would have sensed her but she was always happy to indulge in the duties of others, everyone did have a job to do.

"HALT! Uh..”

Suddenly, the confidence in their faces waned at the sight of the beautiful woman they had thought to have been left for dead and both had grown pale as if they had seen a ghost. They looked at one another and then back to the smiling young woman below them. In times past it wasn’t normal for Captains to be stopped from traveling where they pleased but since the happenings of the previous domestic wars involving them a new procedure had been put in place. Now, Captains popping up out of nowhere was scrutinized and an unwelcome gesture.

"Captain Kurayami? But we thought..”

“I was dead? Hahaha! Common misconception. I really need to go in and see your Captain you see he’s asked for me and I shant think you’d want to keep him waiting longer than I already have. However, since you two are so good at your jobs I’ll provide you with evidence of my summons.”

Swiftly, she dove her hand into her shirt which caused the guards to look away although they did flush red momentarily. To look would have been considered highly disrespectful even if she was the one being careless with her body. Soon she lifted the enveloped letter complete with the tenth’s seal into the air between them and after a brief examination they moved out of her way.

“Right! Sorry for the delay m’aam.”

"Nonsense! You’re just doing what you need to do to keep the rest of the Soul Society safe. You should be commended! Here, have some stickers. Don’t lose them!”

Jauntily passing by, she handed each of the hulking reapers each a tiny jubilant pastel sticker and continued on her way into the division. Behind her, they were examining the stickers and tucked them away for this reason or that. Still, they were stunned and watched her until she disappeared into the courtyard that would lead her to their Captain’s office.

Upon arriving, reaper after reaper stopped what they were doing and stared as she walked by them and she didn’t seem to notice the air of awe all around her either. She was just happy to be awake again and breathing in the fresh air, something that she had thought she’d never get to do again. In fact there was so much she had taken for granted that she vowed to herself she’d not do again and with a new lease on life she had a bit of a pep in her happy little step! The sounds of voices did slow her though, until she drew near the large doors slightly ajar and peered inside. For a moment she watched on as a young reaper exclaimed herself and her devotions as well as her ambitions to her Captain and then she watched even further in silence as her Captain reprimanded her but seemed to be into the idea of giving the girl a chance. This was something Shizukana liked to see, as she believed a closed mouth never did get fed.

Seeing as the Captain was also working on the brew that they were going to enjoy together she saw this as an opportunity to make herself truly known by giving the door a tiny courtesy knock and stepping inside the room. It was then that it dawned on her that the invitation had to have been at least a year or longer and there was no way that the Captain was brewing this tea for her but it seemed that luck was clearly on her side this day!

“Hello.~ Please excuse the interruption but, heehee! I’m here! Two years later but, here! You must be the new Captain. Well, new to me. A hearty hello to you all! Allow me to introduce myself, I’m Captain Shizukana Kurayami.”

The Report

Kazuki at the spoken words of his captain will turn to face him. A small grin emerging out of his otherwise stoic face.

“Fodder. You’re beginning to sound a lil too much like Captain Date. I suppose though, if they don’t want to be seen as fodder or mere cogs, then it's best they get their asses in gear.

No Kazuki was still himself despite his multiple encounters with Date, his philosophy never changing. Yet that is not to say that he used his experiences to grow and to adapt. At the base level Kazuki and Date were not that different in what they desired out of others and the gotei 13. They both wanted strong and competent members by their side. Yet it was their methods and relations where they begun to differ. Kazuki wanted competent brothers and sisters and Date, he wanted mindless cogs. To Kazuki the word cog, was a demeaning phrase, at least in the context Date used it. Turning loyal and hard working shinigami to nothing but pieces to fall in line or be replaced. Fodder, while also demeaning, was a phrase used to illicit truth and awaken his fellow comrades to a possible fate. In the context Kazuki used it was less to insult and more to report their current status. The harsh truth is easily reported rather than a sweet lie. Either way his captain's words didn't even nick at the skin, he knew it was said in a joking manner.

"Either way, I’m glad that you went forth with our plans. With that said, our work is only just beginning. The thirteenth was simply the first”.

"It was the logical course of action, Captain. With those like Date prowling about, the leaderless divisions need proper guidance. To not be preyed upon for their lack of command. Despite my respect for his title and martial prowess, his methods are doing more harm than good. I hope I am not stepping out of line for saying so."
Kazuki did not respond to Izanagi's remark on him sounding similar to Captain Date. As he knew it not true, besides the other questions were more of a pressing concern. So they were addressed first.
“Now then, I need all the information concerning yourself and Captain Date. Don’t leave anything out, I want to know how many clouds there were and even if the birds were chirping”.

"It was after I returned from my duties in the Rukongai. Captain Date walked into the captain's office to deliever the same reports that he delivered to us. What was strange was that he arrived hours after his announcement in our barracks. Most likely occupied in whatever brought his ire within the paperwork of the 3rd division."

"I sent Haruki to warn me of his arrival and went to intercept him. Once there, I in his presence announced the change of leadership. Later asking if he required any assistance, to which he did not take well to. I admit my tone was more sarcastic than was needed, yet he reacted to my words more than anything. Irratated that I even dared to ask such a foolish question."

"He ordered to make sure the division is battle ready and to get out of his path. I did so as I kindly suggested some advice to improve relations and morale. Then like a good shinigami I promised to furfill the order he gave me and apologized for asking the foolish question. He also did not take well to that, a possible wound to his pride, before he attempted to crush me with his reiatsu."

"Where he berated me, threatened to kill me as he called me a rebellious scum and himself a... god? He acted as if he expect me to be on my knees groveling. I managed to remain on my feet, though mostly immobile, like moving through honey. Then he lifted his reiatsu and started to leave, that is when I made the decision to challenge him to a match. Obviously it angered him so and he didn't draw his blade, but offered his hand. In sort of a foolish manner, I took it, but for good reason. Before I was slammed back and forth, arm torn off and rushed to the 4th as I drifted to unconsiousness."

Kazuki pushed off the beam and held up one hand as his gaze was focused at Izanagi.

"Yet this encounter, let me learn many things about our dear captain Date."

1.) He is a prideful and egotistical being. Everyone is beneath him and I assume those of his clan. He is not open to other's advice, idea's or plans. Any challenge to his authority is seen as a threat. And those threats are met with death unless there is a logical reason to keep them alive, such as rank or importance. Yet to a certain extent even that won't save you.
2.) He is powerful. Immense reiatsu, on par with yours, captain Izanagi. I don't have a full grasp of it, but he gave more than enough time to read him with my reikaku. Especially with the physical contact we had. Yet he is slow, slower than me at least, compesating it for great martial prowess. He has great understanding and mastery of Hakuda, I gauged as much when he tossed me around.
3.) He is not a competent leader or ally. No cohesion with his subordinates and fellow officers. Ruling with fear and a iron fist, only drawing ire from those beneath him, not loyalty. A dangerous tactic especially with wounds still fresh from the civil war and Shiba incident.
4.) He has sense of authority and entitlement that is beyond that of captain. More than once he has overstepped his responsiblities as captain and has not been reprimanded. Raiding the third division's captain office, desecration of the late Captain Otokogi's memorial, amongst other things.

All I did, my captain, was to get a reaction of him and to gauge everything about him. His motives, character, methods and power. Despite being beaten within a inch of my life, I believe my efforts were well rewarded. This was for the best interests for us and the gotei 13."

Kazuki was not beaming with pride, but the small smirk remained. He was satisfied with his results with Captain Date and hoped Izanagi will be as well. Though he did not mention that he believed it was a victory in his favor as that would have cheapened the weight of his words. Nor getting into the complicated politics of shinigami elitism and showing heavy signs of being a shinigami purist as well.

A challenge and unexpected return
Kazuki just finished his speech and redirected his attention back to a familiar presence approaching the barracks. He instantly knew it was Kuwashii, the shinigami who watched over Naruki city. His zanpakuto never tasted her blood, but Kyoki knew her scent. she would manifest over kazuki's shoulder and chuckle.

"My my, someone is sure in a rush to get here. It's been quite a while since we last seen her, wonder what she wants."

Almost right on cue, she appeared right at the doors of the office, her voice screeching to both before her.
”Captain! I, Kuwashii Hakunetsu, want a seated position! I don’t care if it's the lowest seat in the Division or if I have to spar someone for it! I- Oh!”

”Things remain quiet in Naruki, I encountered a very few Hollows but they were really weak like… Academy students could have killed them, type weak. No sign of Estarossa or anyone that seems to be looking for human food based snacks. Sadly, that's all I have to report.”

Kazuki slightly winced and held a hand to his ear, before the report was thrust right in front of him. Gingerly he pulled it out of her hands and placed on the desk on the corner. Despite it being offered to Izanagi, he knew that he was more likely to be tasked with it's completion and summarization. Though her report was no different from what other patrols and squads reported, lack of hollows and all low leveled. He wasn't letting his guard down, but did reduce the amount of patrols out in the human world. When he has the time, he needs to visit the fifth division to find out what their reports say.
”Ahem! Now like I was saying! I want to get stronger! I’m sick of being looked down on! There is no reason anyone should look down on a Star! And sorry if I interrupted your conversation!”

"Well isn't someone a little ambitious and loud. How adorable her outcry is, shall we test her?"

"Kyoki..."

His hand moving to his shoulder to clasp her hand. As if telling her to ease in her reiatsu. Kyoki pouted as Kazuki turned to respond to Kuwashii, but Captain Izanagi beat him to it.
“To think you would barge in here after so long making such demands. Your petulance seems to know no bounds. I should punish you for being so careless with your actions”

Kazuki sighed and mentally face palmed himself. Captain Izanagi was playing with his subordinates again. The fox grin upon his mask made it all too apparent, with the cruel joke he was playing on Kuwashii.
“I do, however, agree that you need to get stronger and appreciate your desire for such things. As for this promotion to a seated position, you will have to work for it. Kazuki here is all about transforming regular folk from useless fodder into something worth having around”.

"Captain, you tease our subordinates too much. Further more, I never added useless to the word. I mean to awake fellow shinigami to the truth, not drag them through mud. But yes... Miss Kuwashii, if you wish to be rewarded a seated position, you must first provide adequate merit for such a position."
Ta ta now”.

Kazuki froze as he slowly turned and glared in the direction of his captain. Gods he hated that unpredictable and playful nature of his captain. It was even worse that he now had Kyoki cheering loudly in his ear.

"SEE! The captain agrees with me, come on! Let's see what she can do, test her worth. After you scuffed me with Date, I want chance to stretch my legs! Show her the might of Kyoki and Kazuki!!!"
"Captain wait... and he's gone. Siiiiiiiiiigh, you can't just do these things on a whim."

He tilted his head downward towards Kuwashii, before shaking his head and walking out. He was about to speak before he sensed another familiar presense approaching the front gates. It wasn't soon before he heard two knocks, a pause and two more knocks. It signified that a captain has arrived, hmmm.

That... was perfect, funny enough it was exactly what he was looking for. Though quite surprisingly it was the Captain, the one everyone thought was dead. Yet he tisked as he had to decide to continue with the bout that was suddenly shoved on him or talk to the captain about more dire events. Sighing once more, he turned to Kuwashii and pointed to a certain spot in the courtyard. He watched as she already walked through their courtyard and begun to walk over to Captain Izanagi.

"Start warming up, miss Kuwashii. I just came from a training session at the 13th divison. I am still warmed up from that, I need to speak to this captain."

“Hello.~ Please excuse the interruption but, heehee! I’m here! Two years later but, here! You must be the new Captain. Well, new to me. A hearty hello to you all! Allow me to introduce myself, I’m Captain Shizukana Kurayami.”

Kazuki left Kuwashii as stood respectively near the Captains as he waited to be addressed.
