Up to this point Gyōja had not spoken any further, had not responded to Ren's little quip. Instead he remained still, saying nothing, doing nothing. He took hold of Aojūkiri, slowly pulling it from its scabbard, freeing the beast from its proverbial cage. He stared up towards the sky, a heavy sigh leaving him. He was truly happy for his promotion, how could he not be? Truth be told however, he had his reservations. Was it too soon for him? Also, those elders in the family will probably use this to further argue for him becoming head now that he was on the same level as his cousin. The weight of it all was gradually building on him. For now, all he could do was help one person at a time, someone other than himself, starting with Ren.
Before Ren's very eyes was Gyōja, mid swing. His blade carved in the air from her right shoulder arcing towards her left hip. Moments before this ever occured however she'd undoubtedly be able to feel it. The tension, the looming threat of the danger to come from his attack.
This was because the Kuchiki had intentionally telegraphed his attack via his reiatsu before stepping into it. Despite how swift and seemingly spontaneous the attack was, it wasn't to such a degree that she couldn't react or respond. In fact, he was intentionally slowing the tempo of his attack, for her to be able to react to it. For some, this might come off as counter productive, seen as stunting her growth somewhat. Right now, Gyōja's intent was to force her into a state of being constantly alert, feeling out danger and thus, raising her reflexes to be able to react to it. While the speed of his strikes would undoubtedly be strenuous to deal with, once she was able to get accustomed to that, it would only increase from there.
"Don't forget everything we went over prior to the meeting Ren!"
It was more an encouraging reminder than a warning. Tomi advised him not to push her too hard. Little did she know, he'd never do such a thing. His aim was to push her, protect her NOT to destroy her. 'Still, a little help wouldn't have been turned down Tomi.' He was confident in his ability, but with the way Aojūkiri had been acting as of late, he couldn't deny the concern that clawed at his heart.
