His tiresome expedition in the deserts of Hueco Mundo had finally come to a close, but all for what? They returned empty-handed, leaving relations between the denizens of Hueco Mundo in a volatile state. On top of that, they returned to be informed of dire news that had happened in his absence, resulting in the loss of the 4th Division Captain, and his unseated member, Tsunayoshiro Toru, apparently acted of his own accord. The fact that they remained silent on what transactions this entailed spoke volumes to Michiya about how sensitive of situationship it could have been that they wished to cover it up. He sighed mentally in his head with disdain but remained complacent, lightly tapping his wristwatch, which released an inaudible sonar wave out every few seconds. What annoyed Michiya the most about this joke of an ordeal was that they were the ones who gave full control to the Head Captain, which led to their Captain getting punished over a power trip, and crippled the 12th Division so severely after the removal by sending him into the Hueco Mundo despite speaking on how that was such a bad decision. Yet through Central 46's poor judgment of leadership, somehow once again the 12th Division is the one who paid for their negligence.
In that act of complacency, Michiya came to the conclusion that these relics of the past were no longer fit to guide the Soul Society into a new era. So he listened to them go on quietly, but mentally he remained fully alert to what they had to say. He began picking them apart even hidden behind their veils of mystery. He took keen note of how each of them spoke, their use of vocabulary, cadence of speech, pitch of tones, body language, and everything they offered up to him. This was the beauty of forensic psychology and behavioral science at work. With a deadly hyperfocus in his eyes, flicking to each of them as they spoke, he studied them all with scrutiny, aided by the assistance of his Zanpakuto spirits in analyzing the information. They were simply nothing more than cowards who tried to hide behind walls and couldn't even fend for themselves while pretending they knew what was best, and only hindered the Gotei 13's ability to properly resolve a situation. He scoffed to himself once the meeting with the Central 46 ended, making his way back to the 12th Division to review what he managed to learn. With old records of the Central 46 compound combined with what he managed to digitally map out through the sonar reading, he could comprise an clear layout eventually given enough time.
However, this was not something he planned on rushing into and required a more methodical approach. Foremost, he needed to get the 12th Division back in order, not acting any different in how he carried out business. The demotion just made gathering information and resources that much more difficult, but not impossible. The 12th Division was home to the brightest minds that Soul Society had to offer, and if they put their minds to it, there wasn’t anything they couldn’t accomplish. Once back at the barracks, he sent out a request to all the unseated members to gather up, informing them of what just happened, although
he didn’t care to linger on that for long because it wasn’t anything they could do about it.
“We can no longer continue the way we are, and we can’t trust the imprudent people who are supposed to lead us either. They have failed us, and if we continue this way going forward, we will be the ones to suffer. With that said, you two can’t remain unseated anymore. If you both desire the same seat, I trust you will be able to resolve it in a game of wits or something, hell you can even take the lowest seat possible if you want or aim higher its all the same to me. More importantly we have a new mysterious race that popped out of nowhere, so let's do all we can to prepare for what is to come.”
He shifted his gaze toward Toru speaking to him directly.
“I know you can’t give details about your escapade into the World of the Living, but next time give me a heads-up about it. Either way, if you claim a seated position, the higher-ups won’t be so uptight about what you do. Personally, I don’t care what your clan did like others; I only care about your actions now, and as long as our interests align, I am fine with you continuing as you are, as long as you aren’t conspiring against the Gotei 13 and all of that.”
He waved them all off to go back to their business while pulling up the logistics for the 12th Division barracks, then brought up a holographic display showing the 10th Division's report with the Quincy. A small smirk crept onto his face as he walked away, glad he decided to create a contingency plan. If his experience with what happened with Captain Harai taught him anything, it was to always have a backup plan, which he didn’t think need to implement so soon, but here he was. Before they fully revoked the resources that his Lt. rank allotted him covertly, a mass amount of data was transferred to his personal clan computer within the Senko Clan household; then any traces or fingerprints were erased along with a program that left 1000 misdirections if anyone tried to look into things for whatever reason. After he allocated his assets, he started a thorough examination of everything shared and learned from these people, then compared this to his own encounter with that mysterious abomination in Hueco Mundo, quickly finding some similarities. A long sigh escaped him heading into the labs of their division, then he got to work researching any possible sightings of this race that might have been mentioned in history or vague records of them that got overlooked, possibly.
Day of the Meeting
Michiya continued to use the Captain’s quarters the same, with no difference until the position became occupied. Sitting in the chair, spinning around absent mindedly, staring up at the ceiling, thinking about all the possible outcomes. What concerned him the most was the former Head Captain's dismissal of the role; a Central 46 member was supposed to head this important meeting. He shook his head lightly, swiping in the air, bringing forth multiple holographic screens as he checked the time, seeing it was officially showtime. He typed in a sequence of numbers onto a holographic keyboard in front of him, then suddenly a video screen showed the perspective of someone arriving in the World of the Living, followed by a direct communication line being opened up as this particular individual observed their environment with measured practice before looking to their seated member accompanying them. He remained a silent spectator, listening to the meeting between Quincy and the Emperor kicking off with a grand start from the one who proclaimed himself the Emperor to the Quincy. The more Emperor Adonai talked Michiya’s eyes widened in a bit of disbelief, and as a scientist wished to probe this man for much more information, but now was not the time for it. He hung on every word spoken while subtly switching between multiple holographic screens, using the new information to narrow his research or possible discoveries of the Quincy that could help fact-check and confirm everything that he was saying. Knowing the importance of such a meeting, he bided his time, letting the Captain of the Tenth Division pay close attention to what was being said until their time to follow up on inquiries of their own. When the time was right Michiya began communicating with Jushiro through the mask he created him.
“Captain Izanagi, I apologize for this sudden intrusion into the meeting, but seeing how Central 46 incompetency in understanding the value of bringing a scholar or historian to such a monumental meeting is, and with all respect, you lacked the forethought to record your previous encounter with them. I felt it important to take proper measures into my own hands to not blunder historical event twice. The recording functionality of your mask has already been activated for you, and I’ll provide any further assistance henceforth. You were wise to ask the questions you did, but I think you overlooked something. We didn’t know of their existence or any records of them until ten days ago, yet from what he just shared, they know way more about us. To put it bluntly, they currently hold the stacked deck against us in this, not counting the fact that they managed to take down threats so efficiently that we struggled to bring down someone like Antonio. We have enough enemies but very few allies, so tread carefully in how you help navigate this.”
Michiya remained diligent, taking note of the forces brought alongside the Emperor to this meeting and how they carried themselves. The discipline the show could tell a lot about one's militia prowess, and how the Emperor reacted to certain topics and matters could give a small peek of insight into what kind of leader he is. So far, the body language and change of tone in his voice when he expressed that the Espada using the Soul King's body parts was seen as desecrating his father's remains. There was no deceit in his voice, from what he could gather, although the raw emotion expressed seemed genuine, which raised some concerns about whether he wished to have the parts in their possession handed over, or felt it was safe to remain here as long as they weren’t used as tools as the others did. The final thing the Emperor said was replayed in his mind, confirming his suspicions as they carried on with the meeting. Now that the Head Captain Shihoin was no longer in the picture, this also meant that whatever truce they tried to form with Emillia was no longer on the table, with Central 46 back in control. Emilia, stripped of her Zanpakuto, with only the Soul King’s spine and her natural skills left, it was only a matter of time before she met the same fate as Antonio. Back then, he tried to warn her that coming with them was one of her only lifelines. Maybe, in her time of need, Estarossa would come to her aid, or what they last said held true about meeting in Karakura Town south in a few days. Just before leaving, he left a one-time-use Denshuriki to contact them if it was not just empty words. Michiya knew now that things were out of his control, but if she did try to contact them for that meeting, then it was possible to redeem things, though doing so also might cause tension and conflict with the Quincy, depending on how things played out.
