Cold Welcome & Growing Flame
"So it is, and so is he. How very inconvenient but I’m sure he’ll turn up where he’s meant to be as you say, Kazuki. Believe me, the thirteenth will be informed, but right now you are here to relay what I have to say to Captain Izanagi. Though, this will also be written down, you’re one hundred percent being recorded as we speak.”
Kazuki slowly nodded his head as he was just relieved of delivering the message to Captain Shinka and her division. Yet instead given the arguably more difficult task of tracking down his Captain to convey the contents of this meeting. Then he felt Oyuki move and effortlessly apparate within the confines of the office.
“Captain.”
The familiar chill of the 5th division's lieutenant crept upon what was once a hospitable environment. His ire upon looking at his "lesser" was obvious to everyone, especially Kazuki. His reikaku easily sensing the "abrasive side" bleeding out as if Oyuki was spitting in his direction. In response Kazuki held a soft smile, closing his eyes and letting out a long exhale. The ice vapors dancing around his lips and head. As if one was taking a breath on a cold morning with dew freshly glistening in the rising sun, simply refreshing. His mind elsewhere as he focused more on Kuwashii's reiatsu... before she vanishes from the barracks. If he had to guess, she was heading towards central, to where exactly he wasn't sure. He was concerned and curious what those two spoke about, but he had some ideas.
He wasn't obvious to how the other division members treated her. The runt of the litter, a child who only threw tantrums, despite the family-like nature the 10th held. Yet it wasn't his place to help her... as others will view it as favoritism from a ranked officer. What little wisdom and advice he could offer was given, the rest, was up to her to figure out. Though at the end, he will always be there to aid her, no matter the result. He just hoped she wasn't doing something reckless and stupid.
...
Maybe he should send a message to Akemi to standby just in case. No.... She was as swamped as it is with still retreiving the dead and injuried from both Naruki and Karakura. Finishing his thoughts, he opened his eyes, setting his gaze upon Oyuki while maintaining the faint smirk, undisturbed by his presence.
"Lieutenant Oyuki, how generous... of you. A brisk breeze worthy of... being married with a good cup of tea."
Words spoken softly, pauses deliberate as if consideration was put into every word.
“OoooOOh! Brrr! The brisk but good morning has followed you into my office!”
Hpmm, the faint smirk silently grew at lady Kurayami's words. In that single instance it seemed the two had shared a brain cell if only for a moment. Finding it endearing of her disapproval at Oyuki's behavior, yet it was understood that they were all expecting Captain Izanagi. Though for those who didn't know the tenth division, will be surprised to find out that this was normal. It was not the first nor will it be the last time that Kazuki was sent in his Captain place.
If Izanagi was the face, Kazuki was the nerves responsible for communication between parts of the "body". Leaving Kuwashii for the heart, Jinnosuke for the muscle and Owari the skin.
The Report and Excursion
"In that report is everything I've been able to gather on the Karakura and Naruki incursions, Captain. Allow me to be frank. While the shortcomings of the Tenth and Thirteenth are the most visible, it is us that allowed the situation in our own Division to spiral. It is precisely from this failure that the Hollows were free to scheme and strengthen themselves virtually unopposed."
Silence as the words sunk into the atmosphere. The stain that besmirched all three divisions was heavily felt by the four here. Iwamaura's words cut deep as they were the unfiltered truth of the sorry state of the gotei 13. Still in shambles dispite coming back to needed efficiency, though he was afraid that was not happening fast enough. Six divisions still captain-less and eight without lieutenants... the mess they're still in. Siiiiiiiiiiiigh.
"Once a modicum of peace returns, we must make sure a mutiny of this kind never happens again within our ranks."
"It is so hard to trust people. Isn’t it?”
"Indeed... the wound still festers in all of us."
"With that being said, there's something else. According to eyewitness accounts, multiple humans were captured by the Hollows and brought back to Hueco Mundo. What we do know of those humans are detailed in the report, but from what I've seen, there's next to nothing to explain why they would be taken in the first place. More is needed to be learned on that front.”
At that moment, Kazuki felt the need to interject and add to the report. Yet chose to remain silent as he allowed Iwamaura to finish. He understood now the gist of what the reports contained. Basic sightings and patrols written down by those within the incident and the aftermath. He doubted that Iwamaura possessed the report his captain wrote, critical information of the nature of those "Humans".
"There's also the matter of you, Captain, and the coma that incapacitated you. As your subordinate---I'm grateful and thankful that it wasn't from anything you or we could have contracted in Hueco Mundo. But to know that it was your own Zanpakuto that took you out of commission for two years concerns me. If your blade was able to do that to you once, wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that it could do it again, and potentially for even longer?"
Lady Kurayami's Zanpakuto did what? For the first time in decades, Kazuki was dumbfounded by this piece of information. To him, who had such a strong bond with his Zanpakuto, this was inconceivable. In what world would a Zanpakuto do something so selfish to their partner, so detrimental? Yet... a Zanpakuto is a part of us but they are their own being. They have their desires, wants, ambitions, and personalities that can even be opposites of the shinigami. Every relationship differs as no bond in this world is the same.
These were the words of that stranger back then when Captain Date visited the division. How unfortunate and he can only wish the best for Lady Kurayami. While counting his own blessings that he and Kyoki held such a beneficial relationship. He waited a bit, before it seemed that Iwamaura said all that he wanted to.
"I believe I possess some... additional information about those humans."
About to continue, but he was interrupted by Lady Kurayami as she begun to ramble.
"It’s been too long.”
“Now I understand. Now I understand! Yurusarezaru can be…such a vile and fickle old man!”
“Isn’t this the most fortunate thing?!”
Kazuki watched a bit amused as she scambled about the drawers and archives. Sighing a bit as he waited for her to voice her sudden discovery. Her movements frantic, yet it reminded him a bit of his own captain, so he knew that he will have to just wait it out.
“We now know that there have been humans abducted into Hueco Mundo. The reason why can always be sorted out later, though I suspect we’ll find out more information than we can handle at some point. We can bring them here, where It can be sorted here where we can have more control over this situation. Naturally, It is of the highest imperative that they be rescued and there is none better to do it than we. Ah- Lieutenant Gekka, and Hyoroshi and me I mean but you’re very welcome to join us as we will need all of the bodies that we can get for this trip, Although, I’m sure there’d be other’s willing to help us out too…”
“Bless your consideration of your Captain, but, Where it concerns me is where I am the most fortunate! Don’t you see? The answer is clear. We’ve got no choice but to prepare for another excursion to Hueco Mundo. It’s been too long.”
"Then he'll forgive me."
He noticed the invitation from Lady Kurayami to join their excursion into Hueco Mundo. For a second he pondered the thought, yet he decided that he will more of a burden than help at the moment. Not because of his lack of skill or martial prowess. But because he was a stranger and one that clearly one of the individials didn't trust their lives with. That... can be a death sentence as trust was of the upmost importance in such missions. He cleared his throat softly to draw focus to himself as he repeated his previous statement.
"As I have stated before... I have additional reports on the humans."
Slowly he walked over to the reports and stopped to look at lady Kurayami for permission. Before lightly skimming the contents of the reports.
"During the attack on Naruki, my captain encountered one of the espada and two of such described humans. In his reports, these humans could see both Espada and Shinigami. If it was just that... they will be just written off as humans with high spirtual energy. Or given the case of the invasion, humans exposed to high spirtual energy."
"Yet what is perplexing about them... is that they possessed abilities: one was able to manipulate the very air we breath and the other... manifested his commands into reality. It is safe to assume that other humans kidnapped possessed similiar abilities. How or why these humans possess such strange powers is currently unknown. Yet the reason behind their abilties, may be the reason why the arrancars are kidnapping them."
Gently he closed the reports and walked to the entrance of the office.
"I will try to find out more on the matter, but for now I wish you luck with your Zanpakuto, Lady Kurayami. That you two once more reach a compromise as all partners should. And I wish you all luck with the execursion ... to Hueco Mundo. I would go with... but there are warmer places that call for my utmost attention. Please relay the message you wish for me to bring to Captain Izanagi."
Even though the meeting just started, it seemed as if it was already wrapping up. He came here to exchange reports, once done... there was no more reason for him to stay. Other matters called to him and it will be prudent that he dealt with them.
