Casual Stroll

With a yawn Estarossa exits the tooth shaped maw of the Garganta in the skies of Naruki City with it closing behind him moments later. He does a few stretches, the sort that people would perform after waking up and to be fair Estarossa had been awake for about twenty minutes or so. He looks around the city while scratching his head noticing the fissures scattered about.

”Oh boy they weren’t kidding… There are quite a few of them. Hmmm…”

He closes his eyes and tries to sense for the Shinigami who was placed in Naruki City as its guardian.

”I don’t sense that blue haired brat so maybe I could check out these fissures before she or any other Shinigami show up.”

Still masking his Reiatsu to appear as a lowly Gillian he marches up to a fissure and begins examining it. His fingers trace along the surface of it with slight chips of “reality” breaking off of it. He retracts his hand to prevent opening it any further. These were Kūmon alright and from the looks of it they’re all slowly expanding, teetering on the cusp of tearing open. He wonders where they lead to; on the other side, none of his people reported any fissures in Hueco Mundo. He walks around the Kūmon to examine it from all sides, wondering if his ability could do something to dispose of it, alas, his conclusion was mere uncertainty. If he did consume this Kūmon it could trigger a chain reaction that forces the others to open up spontaneously. He steps away from it at last then allows himself to drop down to the streets below.

He takes a stroll with his hands in his pockets, glancing up at the fissures and their relative position to the buildings he wanted to protect. He stops at the corner of intersecting roads that had quite a bit of traffic, both vehicle and pedestrian. He stands there silently as people pass by him, none the wiser to his existence. If there were any spiritually aware humans around they would be shocked to see him but they would not feel any sense of danger radiating from him as his gaze was fixed skyward. His eyes darted from fissure to fissure trying to see if there was some pattern to them. In a single blink he was gone from the corner of the intersecting streets and appeared high up in the sky, well above the city and fissures. With a birds eye view he investigated them further only to find no pattern to them, at least not one he could recognize.

”There really is no rhyme or reason to their placement… My paranoia of Las Noches really has me second guessing my comrades' observational skills.”

He returns to the ground at the same rate of speed he had left it and then takes a seat on a public bench. He sits right in the middle of it, stretching out his arms along the backrest of it while crossing his legs, his ankle resting on his knee style. Due to the audacious way he was sitting, humans naturally avoided the bench, or rather their desire to sit there vanished entirely. While seated he kept his gaze skyward towards the fissures, he isn’t sure when they will open but he has decided to play a waiting game with them. If anything does emerge from them he will kill them and maybe if he kills enough then the Hollows will be too scared to use them. Then again, what if these fissures were a distraction, something to lure him out and away from his home. Worse yet, what if it was bait for Shinigami? Either way, at this point, he couldn’t just go home, he had to defend his favorite stores from destruction.

All was quiet in Naruki City. It was nighttime, so lots of the people who lived on this block were sleeping. Only the streetlights and some scattered trash were in sight. But even if someone were to look out their window, they wouldn’t be able to see the phenomenon happening below.

It seemed like a door suddenly appeared in the middle of the street. Completely visible, but not to the curious eye. If you weren’t gifted with the sight of spiritual beings, you wouldn’t see it. But it was there right in the open.

Sayuri quickly exited the Senkaimon, with a few squad members behind her. She quickly looked around, scanning the area. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary here. That was a good sign. For now.

She quickly turned towards the squad members she brought with her, giving out orders.

“Observe the area. Make sure nothing is out of the ordinary, and if you spot or sense anything, report back to me. Spread out.”

The men quickly nodded before flash-stepping away from her. She could still feel their spiritual pressure, so she knew they were fine for now.

She sighed as she took out her Denreishinki, looking at the screen to track Garganta. Nothing out of order. Everything was silent. At least for now.

After waiting around for something to happen Estarossa had leaned his head back and began whistling to himself. The whistle was nothing specific, just something with a bit of predictable rhythm to it. Humans who walked past the bench would remark how the wind in that area had a rhythmical tune to it, it would flood their internet forums in the following weeks on how it may be a hotspot for paranormal activity. While keeping himself occupied and free from boredom his eyes would suddenly open and slowly shift to the left as he sensed the arrival of a group of three Shinigami. Two lower ranks and one Curiosidades (Lit. Curiosities) clearly one of these three Shinigami had some strength to them.

”About damn time. This place would have been destroyed if all these fissures opened up and I sure as hell don’t want to do these losers jobs for them.”

He stretches his arms and legs while still sitting on the bench before hopping off of it and cracking his neck a few times. He takes a few steps forward and notices the two weaker Shinigami moving overhead towards the fissures. Despite them using Shunpo he could still keep track of their speed, not that it was anything noteworthy to begin with. Estarossa had to think for a moment, would it be wise to let them approach the fissures? What if they are spring loaded to react to the presence of a Shinigami? Not wanting to take any chances he vanishes from his spot only leaving behind the signature static sound of his Sonido. In what seemed like a single instant he grabbed both men by their collars, despite them moving into different directions of the city. In the next moment he appears before Sayuri, holding both her subordinates by their collars, alive and well.

”Slow down for a second, do you people have no sort of protocol for this or sense of caution?”

He tosses the men back towards Sayuri allowing them to land on their feet without harm. Currently Estarossa’s strength seems no greater than a Gillian class Hollow, something the three of them can slay easily. Despite that Estarossa does not seem to be worried about the three of them in the slightest, not in a superiority sort of way but rather order of importance. He was so much more focused on the fissures that he even turned away from them for a moment to look at said fissures.

”So all these fissures are just Kūmon, usually those are made by rank and file Hollow who force their way into this world.”

He places a hand on top of his head and begins scratching it, trying to think of something more to his theory or reasoning why they are there.

”USUALLY they just tear them open, hop through and the thing closes on its own but this is… Odd, You three know how to close these up right? Please don’t tell me you came here without a plan… You came without a plan… didn’t you?”

This situation would have to be jarring for Sayuri and her two companions that this Arrancar is talking to them so casually and offering up information without interrogation. He speaks as if he is on friendly terms with them even. This is not his first run in with Tenth Division but this would be his first time meeting Sayuri and the other two. While waiting for a response he turns to look at the Kūmon to observe any changes in them since the arrival of the Shinigami here. So far he can notice nothing of note, but he is still being very cautious about them.

Sayuri walked around quietly, her eyes and ears open for anything out of the ordinary. The fissures opening up was true. They were almost everywhere, which was highly concerning. She wasn't shocked that her subordinates were heading towards the nearest one. As she looked after them, she quickly sighed and followed after them. Who knew what would happen? Their presence could be just enough to set whatever was out here off. She was about to speak to the men before her, telling them to slow down when suddenly she felt a different spiritual pressure than the men around her, and suddenly….

“Slow down for a second, do you people have no sort of protocol for this or sense of caution?”

The presence of the Arrancar sent her instantly on edge, the edge turning into anger as the Arrancar threw the men who came with her back towards her. Clearly there was no harm done, but having the Arrancar handle them like they were stupid pissed her off.

Her hand slowly inched towards the hilt of her sword.

”So all these fissures are just Kūmon, usually those are made by rank and file Hollow who force their way into this world.”

Sayuri stayed silent, her anger getting more and more prominent as the words left the monster's mouth.

”Usually they just tear them open, hop through and the thing closes on its own, but this is… Odd. You three know how to close these up, right? Please don’t tell me you came here without a plan… You came without a plan… didn’t you?”

“Miss Sayuri…do you want me-?” one of the men started to speak but she sent him a glare, making him shut up.

Even though Sayuri wasn't one to be scared in a lot of situations, mainly with the people she knows and those she works with, this was not what she was used to.

It wasn't unusual for arrancars to sometimes have personalities that are all about killing. But having this…this one talking to them so calmly, giving them information…it unsettled her.

“It's none of your concern if we had a plan or not. Shocked you are speaking and giving information…what are you planning?” She finally spoke up, trying to keep her voice calm, not wanting to show her anger or her fear. OK

”Planning?”

A sinister gaze appears on his face as he looks down at Sayuri. This gaze is accompanied by a menacing aura, threatening almost as if he were about to explode and attack at any second. He takes a step closer to Sayuri and finally speaks.

”I am planning… To protect my favorite clothing stores but most importantly! I’m here to protect a bakery here in the city. It's run by a sweet old woman who makes the best treats. If someone does anything to her or her store I’m killing them, no questions asked. Be it Shinigami, Arrancar, whatever.”

That is correct, this Arrancar put on such a hostile energy all to declare his protection over frivolous things in the city. But there was way too much hostile energy in his words and body language for him to be lying about what he said. However, now that he got his truth out he began pacing around the trio, rubbing the mask fragment on his chin as he examined them, his eyes occasionally shifting back towards the Kumon scattered about.

”Look, we are on the same side, for now. Let’s just work together and figure out what’s going on here. These things could be on a timer and the more we sit here and chit chat the more time we waste. If we get this solved in time I can treat you three to some cheesecake! The old lady makes it from scratch and it is so good!”

He turns his back to them after making the offer to look out at the Kumon again. His guard was one hundred percent down, and not in the false sense as if he was trying to fool them. If they wanted to they could attack him and do some real damage and yet he casually trusted them not to attack him. He was a strange Arrancar indeed, his priorities were all screwed up, wanting to protect human establishments, willing to freely give info and work with Shinigami, and most of all turning his back on what should be considered his natural enemy.

What Estarossa was trying to do now was trying to see if the Kumon were linked to one another. In a sense if one were to crack open would those cracks spread to the others and continue until there was one singular gaping maw of a Garganta? While they were scattered about at random maybe they formed a shape that could only be seen from a specific angle. He glances back over his shoulder to Sayuri.

”Yo, red head, what have you observed about these fissures? They’re randomly placed, yeah, but what if there is more to them than that? What if they are set up like dominos? Oh, uhh, have you ever played with dominos? They are these rectangle things you can set up then knock over, it's very pleasing to watch, but the knocking over thing is what I’m focused on.”

He walks forward with his hands on his hips still looking around trying to figure out new theories for what they are looking at.

”Red head, have your two goons spread out and observe these things from multiple angles, we need more info. Oh, but don’t touch the damn things, please. I hope this doesn’t take all day, I’m going to get cranky if I don’t get my snack soon.”

When the Arrancar, Estarossa, made his declaration about protecting his favorite clothing stores and a beloved bakery, Sayuri and her companions were taken aback. It was a peculiar sight, a creature of his kind showing such concern for human establishments. But the sincerity in his eyes and the calmness of his demeanor made it clear that he was not joking.

As he began to analyze the situation and come up with theories about the Kumon, his attitude shifted from menacing to almost childlike curiosity. He even entrusted Sayuri and her companions to gather more information, showing a level of trust that was unexpected from an Arrancar.

”Look, we are on the same side, for now. Let’s just work together and figure out what’s going on here. These things could be on a timer and the more we sit here and chit chat the more time we waste. If we get this solved in time I can treat you three to some cheesecake! The old lady makes it from scratch and it is so good!”

In the midst of his musings, Estarossa made an offer of cheesecake, a gesture that showed a glimmer of warmth beneath his tough exterior. Despite his odd priorities and contradictory behavior, there was a sense of genuine desire to work together for a common goal.

The more the Arrancar talked, the more annoyed Sayuri got with this situation. It was so odd. Not what she was taught that it made her so uneasy.

”Red head, have your two goons spread out and observe these things from multiple angles, we need more info. Oh, but don’t touch the damn things, please. I hope this doesn’t take all day, I’m going to get cranky if I don’t get my snack soon.”

Sayuri finally let herself get angry. The way this Arrancar spoke to her. Like she was dumb made her want to kill it even more.

But, it is true. They don’t want to mess with the fissures not knowing what the domino effect will be. And it seemed that he was working with them…for now.

“Spread out and look at the fissures, don’t touch them. Just report back to me. We don’t want this blowing up on us.”

“Yes, Sayuri-San!”
Both of them said together before getting to work. Sayuri never took her eyes off the Arrancar, not offering the Arrancar a chance of letting her get her guard down.

This whole situation wasn’t what she had planned..which pissed her off. But she had to keep her chill…not picking up her Zanpakuto and fighting when there wasn’t a threat…yet.
