Karakura Town

A few nights ago
It was a rather quiet night within Karakura Town, and for the moment, it was peaceful within the city. Sure, some strange events had happened over two years ago, but that was chalked up to a gas leak. Those troubles are mostly forgotten, and what was there to help them forget? It was Kälteste Krug. Like many nights, it had been filled to the brim with both foreigners and locals alike, for this bar had a way of keeping things civil. They offered some of the best prices on beer and hard liquor, both foreign and domestic, giving it its popularity.

Yet for tonight, a crowd had gathered around the bar. Two large men sat side by side: one, a man in a black shirt, whose muscles were outlined and almost seemed too tight for his frame. He wore a set of jeans that paired well with his GORE-TEX boots. Across from him, a sumo wrestler, well-dressed in a black three-piece suit with a white shirt underneath. This one had just recently defeated the champion and had sought to celebrate outright with a few drinks. After spotting the tall, muscular foreigner with a sign written in Kanji stating, “もし飲み比べで私に勝てたら、君の飲み物代をおごるよ。” (If you could beat me in drinking, I’ll pay for your drinks), the man’s eyes lit up. If he could make the foreigner pay for his drinks, then tonight was going to be even better.

Yet that alone wouldn’t have gathered the crowd. What did was the number of two-liter glass boots on each side. By the count, each one had drunk ten, and neither seemed to stop. They were allowed bathroom breaks due to the amount of liquid they were consuming, but someone had to watch in case one would pass out.

As the night continued, so did the drinking, along with the cheers, as each one continued their gluttonous appetite for beer. That was until, by the 40th drink of Das Boot, the sumo wrestler collapsed, to which the muscular man reached forward and grabbed both the wrestler’s and his own boot to drink.

“The beer is on him!”

Laughter came out from everyone as the large man stumbled out from the bar and off to his home. His size alone made it seem like he was a lumbering giant as he stumbled through the streets.

At the same time, in a different location within the town, one shadier then the Kälteste Krug neighborhood, a different type of crowd had gathered around a table. A lot of them seemed to be rough-looking, some with scars, some without. Yet all of them had one thing in common—their tattoos, all on the backs of their hands. Yet out of the unruly individuals sat two women. One wore a white Stetson as her green hair extended down her back and to her hips, a pair of black round glasses, a white duster that extended down to her ankles, along with a pair of jeans and a vest underneath. The other woman had the same length of hair, though her hair was red. Her outfit? A plaid skirt with black leggings underneath and a dress shirt. The air was filled with smoke, and the aroma was mixed in with the scent of alcohol as the crowd watched in awe as the game went on.

The chips were down, the stacks were high, and the sound of plastic landing on one another could be heard until the dealer was given the check sign from everyone.

“The bets are all in. The pot sits at 4 million yen.”

The sound of cards could be heard sliding across the table before the dealer flipped them over, revealing The six of spades, seven of spades, and the eight of spades. Each member looked at one another as chips were thrown in once more, each one matching before one raised. The others matched until it came to the red-headed woman. She threw in another million yen, much to the dismay of many at the table.

“DAMNIT!”

One screamed as he was about to get up before two men gripped his shoulders and pushed him back down into his seat.

“Bet or fold. You have been warned.”

One spoke out before moving back to his original position. The man at the table had a face of shock and anger before folding his hand. The others laughed before matching the final bet. Then the last two cards dropped: the Ace of Spades and the Jack of Spades. Laughter came from one of the men at the table.

“Read ’em and weep, boys and girls!”

He revealed a set of sixes—the Heart and the Club. While the others looked annoyed, all but the women who sat at the table. They looked at one another, then over at the man. The redhead burst out into laughter as she flipped her cards, revealing the king of diamonds and the five of spades, while the green-haired one also revealed her cards, showing the queen of diamonds and 4 of spades. The man’s laughter stopped before a flurry of slurs came out from him, accusing them of collaborating and cheating. As he reached into his pocket, several clicks could be heard. The guards, well-trained in dealing with these situations, were quick. Again, the redhead laughed as she looked at the man, whose hands were in his pockets. The other two reached into their own pockets, and more clicking could be heard. Several armed guards moved to surround them, each with suppressor-equipped guns aimed at their heads.

“Now, now, you were all told to leave your guns at the doorrrrrrrr! But you boys didn’t follow the rrrruuules!!!”

Her finger wagged back and forth as she looked at the man who started it all. Then it happened—several shots came from the guards, each trained on the men’s heads. Blood splattered across the room and onto the tables, yet none would get on the women, save for small specks landing on the cuffs of their shirts. All but one man was dead, now shaken with terror.

“Go back to your bosses and tell them Der Verborgene Tisch (The Hidden Table) is now off-limits to you and your organization. Come back, and it will likely be the end of you and it. You knew the rules when you walked in.”

The man nodded as he was escorted out to a different room, with a lone chair and two sets of cuffs.

“That was exciting! Oh, it felt like we were in the movies. I can’t wait to do that agai—”

A finger pressed up against her lips as the cowgirl shook her head back and forth.

“You’re way too excited for having a gun drawn on you. Come on, let’s head home. That was enough excitement for tonight, Gamemaster.”

Laughter between the two could be heard as they exited the building and walked down the moonlit streets.

"Momma!”

A tiny child ran to the open arms of her mother who responded in kind with a gigantic hug full of her love. Together they laughed and played in the security of a local park in Karakura Town. Actually quite private, it was a popular place to come to play amongst the children both alive and dead for many lost spirits of children are drawn there in impressive numbers and spend their time watching the others play without them. The human children are, of course, oblivious to the existence of the ghostly playmates who want nothing more than to be able to join in their innocent jubilation. At the moment, the spirit count was greatly overshadowing the amount of living souls which then caused what should have been a calm and uplifting time to grow problematic.

Inevitably, the stench of death and horror crept out from the shadows in response to such a ‘hot spot’ of coagulated pluses. It took on the shape of a terrifying skeletal monster and boasted a significant power level with a roar that shook the whole of the playground, frightening the mother and child because they did not understand what was happening. They did not hear the panicked screams of young spirits, fleeing at the sight of the Hollow that had manifested to devour them or move when that Hollow rose up directly behind them with intentions to kill them to get to its quarry.

“Mommy?...”

The child points her small finger at the Hollow behind her mother, a scary beast that was the size of a large vehicle now lifting it’s lengthy arm to strike them both aside. However

“Monster.”

The mother turned sensing nothing and expecting nothing but instead the Hollow roared once again and this time the force behind its exertion sent the duo tumbling. Frantic, the woman looked around for any sign of what could have hit them while also scrambling to collect her sobbing girl and run away. For every five feet a crater would open up which was actually the Hollow having attacked the spot and missed and she was certain at this point that she was losing her mind. It had to be an earthquake of some kind, making these vibrations and weird sounds. Suddenly her heart sank. She froze because she could see that in the chaos she had met a dead end. Quickly, she turned to go back but she stopped again because this time she could feel something. Maybe it was being so close to death in those seconds but she swore something was panting in front of her like a winded animal and the growls she heard were undeniably animalistic. Her daughter sobbed and pointed again as her mother slowly backed up until she couldn’t anymore, crying the same word over and over because she did not know what else to say. She could see every bit of the terror looming over them unbeknownst to her mother who could do nothing else but hold her child closer until death saw fit for it to be their time, she gave up, only grateful for being able to be with her daughter in that moment.

The Hollow lunged, the mother let out a scream and the child’s eyes widened with heart wrenching fear. However, almost instantly the fear twisted into an expression of awe as she watched a large figure covered in scars drop down between them and gawked as an iron fist swatted the Hollow backwards to send it careening into the side of an out of business Deli. Her mother did not know that the girl could see another woman dressed in strange clothing with a wild grin plastered on her face as she crashed her pair of knuckles together and crowed at the Hollow that was rousing itself back to its feet.

“ What’s wrong ya pansy! Is this all ya’ got?! Don’t hold out on me. I know you got some buddies out here somewhere, you better bring ‘em out! Yer’ gonna NEED EM’.”

Realizing that she had a chance, the mother took off to safety and the child watched on until she could see no more. Saved and able to ponder what she saw that day as she continued to grow older.

In response to Omoni’s rising anger and flexing of her volatile reiatsu, her body started to exert sparks of vibrant flame and the earth around her began to rise into the air. Steely turquoise eyes amusedly watched as the Hollow grunted at her challenge and considering that it had just been sent sprawling, it felt obliged to acquiesce to her request. With a low guttural howl, Hollows of various shapes and kinds drug themselves out of the depths of the darkness rising up around her. They hissed, snapped their jaws and snarled at her defiantly which only seemed to excite Hageshi further and cause her to let out a jovial laugh.

“Yea…Yea…Yea! THAT'S MORE LIKE IT!”

They came at her in hoards and left the same way.

“Pulverize and Purify, Namakizu!”

Defense in numbers or Defense in skill, it mattered nothing to the brute bulldozing her way through the crowd. A single clock from the reaper’s cudgel pulverized them before any attacks could land her a blow and it did not take long for the Hollow’s numbers to dwindle to a disappointing number. Omoni only seemed to be getting stronger and with every bit of destruction she did to them she appeared to be regenerating before their eyes and so, it was getting anxious. With a series of desperate roars it commanded the remaining ten hollows to commit to an all out cooperative assault in hopes of bringing her down.

"This was cute n’ all but…”

Omoni slammed Namakizu’s prongs into the ground while she simultaneously leapt up to crouch on the top of the bludgeon’s hilt and smirked as twenty of Namakizu’s spikes exploded forth from the Zanpakuto. Their claws reached out like separate limbs and pierced through every Hollow at once before snapping back just as abruptly. The bodies of the beasts collapsed into heaps of fur, bone and blood and Omoni watched on with a bored expression now that the fight had ended. The Hollow’s last sight was that of Hageshi, its last sound was Hageshi’s regards and its last scent was the sour smell coming from a cigarette she’d stuck into her mouth and lit to life.

"None a’ ya’ ever stood a chance.”

With a huff of smoke, Omoni turned to face the casualties of her latest encounter and was mildly pleased to see that all she’d ended up breaking this time was the playground sets and some sort of pond. Nothing the humans couldn’t deal with, therefore, nothing for her to worry about.

“Um…miss?”

A small ethereal voice came out of nowhere and caused Hageshi to look around but when she saw nothing in her line of sight she cast it downward to see a group of three shaken spirits. They were pluses, the few who stuck around and watched Omoni beat the hell out of the Hollow that had been hunting them and attacking them. Maybe she could help them, maybe she could get them home and help them find whatever they were trying to find…or so they all thought. They were right too, Omoni was capable of doing a great many things and her JOB had to be the most important of those things. There was just one little problem.

90447d255d25f9bfe79cba3235580538.png

“What the hell do ya’ want?! Huh?!..”

“Ah! Um…U-..”
“We wanna go home! Away from here!”
“Y-yea! We wanna be safe!”

“I miss my mommy…”

WHAM WHAM WHAM WHAM

Omoni stared at the sad scene with a scowl that could have curdled milk and without warning, her club returned to a pair of knuckles and she disrespectfully bonked each child on their forehead with the back of them enough to knock them into the dirt. As the Konsō took its hold, their flabbergasted faces and even desire to say angry words in response vanish into a show of sweet serenity as they move on to the next phase of their lives and Omoni is alone again.

It's a relief to the giant woman as she prefers solitude over being around people but still there is no joy left on the face of the seated officer. The fight was over before it had started, if it hadn’t been her job she likely wouldn’t have wasted her time on such a small fry Hollow in the first place and so naturally, Omoni was disgruntled. Though she knew that others would tell her to be happy that the human world isn’t under attack by insanely strong foes, she wasn’t and didn’t agree with their sentiments at all. Maybe it was tempting fate but she didn’t care. Hageshi was getting sick of the run of the mill adversaries and yearned for something more. As she gazed up lazily at the blue sky and watched flocks of birds soar by, she hoped with all her soul that there was someone or something out there that would give her a decent challenge. In the event that she told this to someone, they always said the same thing and it echoed endlessly in her empty head.

‘You should be careful what you wish for.’

Sighing her frustrations out, Omoni whipped a badly beaten Denreishiki out of her pocket and leapt up onto a nearby roof to rest on. Grumbling to herself, it took her a minute but she opened up her messaging system where she then opened a chat and pulled up Jinnosuke’s number. Unfortunately, there was no one that existed on the planet or in any of the universes that pissed her off more than he did. Infact, Omoni’s bad mood for that entire day could be attributed to him when he didn’t show up to take part in patrols. She had expected him to be there and the sun was already beginning to set, meaning she had been having to do all the work herself and fully believed he’d blown her off to do soul king knew what. All she KNEW was that he was going to get a rude welcome the next time she saw him. He was an intolerable muscle head she went to the academy with, traded a fair share of blows with and had somehow ended up as one of her few friends and so, she felt the need to keep in touch with him since they ended up in the same division.

">:C ”

The only thing that Jinnosuke would get in those next few seconds it took for her message to send was a single angry emoji and that was all that he would get. This was partly because she had a hard time spelling and texting so she often expressed herself with the small fun pictures available to her. Hageshi knew he would either be reminded of this blunder and the possibility of the dire consequences it had or he’d be confused because he forgot. Neither of which she planned on forgiving easily.

Panting could be heard, footsteps rapidly moving across the pavement, each one landing heavily. Then another set of steps followed, then more, each seeming to lag behind him by a bit. Each person panted heavily, though for himself? He kept his brisk pace—until he caught a sense, one unfamiliar to him. To this, he turned his head toward the group behind him—no more than ten people—who wore standard tracksuits with a local school emblem, along with two other older gentlemen wearing different tracksuits but with the same emblem as the students.

“Sir, what is it?”

“Mmmm… I’m not getting a good feeling about this area. Why don’t you bring the students back? I think they’ve had enough of a run for today, don’t you think? I’ll stay and scope out the area for any suspicious persons… Though, I have to say! I’m having my fun helping you guys get these kids into shape!”

“Alright! You heard the man, turn around and run the 10K back to the school!”

Exhausted sighs and groans came from the students, most bending over with hands pressed against their knees, backs hunched as they stared down at the pavement. Most were a bit on the overweight side, wondering why they had been put through this—more so when a foreigner was brought along to help.

He watched them closely as they continued their run down the street before turning toward the direction of the reiatsu. No doubt about it—there were some Hollows. But more importantly, a Shinigami. He was familiar with the Hollows, but not the Shinigami.

He crept up slowly, moving down an alleyway before looking up. To that, a smile spread across his face as he began to climb the walls with ease, until he reached the top of a small apartment building. From here, he could see the Shinigami. From what he could tell, a woman.
“ What’s wrong ya pansy! Is this all ya’ got?! Don’t hold out on me. I know you got some buddies out here somewhere, you better bring ‘em out! Yer’ gonna NEED EM’.”

His hand reached down into his pocket, pulling out his phone. His fingers moved across the screen until he hit the record button. Slowly and carefully, he kept his hand steady as he watched the Shinigami tear through the Hollows as if they were nothing at all, her reiatsu surging with every movement.
“Pulverize and Purify, Namakizu!”

“Is that her shikai?”

His head tilted a bit as he watched her fight, each strike cutting down a Hollow until the last one finally fell. A sigh slipped from his lips, the tension in his shoulders easing as the battle came to an end. He lowered himself onto the edge of the parapet, stopping the recording and quickly slipping the phone into his pocket. His gaze remained fixed on the Shinigami woman below, his brow furrowing into a scowl. A small twitch flickered at the corner of his eye before he forced a smile.

“Ja... Ich fühle mich wirklich wie ein Creeper”

“Ich sollte besser verschwinden, bevor sie mich bemerkt!”

He turned himself around and quickly sprinted to the edge, jumping down from the roof to the pavement below, a loud thud echoing through the area. Without hesitation, he ran as fast and as far as he could without using his reiryoku to enhance his speed, nor use Hirenkyaku to move get away from the area—after all, the last thing he wanted was to get caught by a Shinigami.

The dark veil of the Garganta gave no tell on where she was headed, and no signs of what trouble awaited her. On one of the rare occasions, her spiritual reiatsu wasn't flaring outward responding to her instincts at the moment she remained in a docile state only caring for the closest bed she could come across. In this state of mind, her reiatsu wasn't even distinguishable no different than an ant. As air parted from Descorrer neatly folding back the sky, however, Ximena didn't find herself within the confines of the Espada tower laying claim over another comrade's bed but what greeted her did not sound familiar in Hueco Mundo. Stepping into the World of the Living she studied her surroundings not seeing the cityscape of her arrival, but instead happened to somehow instinctually open up directly into someone's bedroom. Before the Garganta closed fully a large set of eyes peered from the darkness watching her actions as she spoke to 12 Gillian that lay in wait for their orders and behind them a single adjucha class hollow followed by 10 hollows.

"Lay low while I rest up for now, but I have an important marching order for you little fellows. Don't draw too much attention to yourselves. You have one important task claim the lives of the strong and enforce encroachment on them. They are not to engage but retreat into Hueco Mundo, if they don't listen make them."

She let out a big yawn as the male whose house she invaded charged at her with a metal bat thinking she was an intruder. Before he had a chance to raise it one of the hollow lept out slicing the male hands off then with a simple jab of her finger pierced into his chest killing him and starting the encroaching process on their first recruit. Tossing his body into the Garganta for the adjucha waiting patiently to catch and return safely. Ximena was the rare case of hollow who despised killing the weak embodying her aspect perfectly, what was a queen without an army? The Shinigami had taken so much from them and now it was their time to start reclaiming what they lost.

"Now if you excuse me that fight got me drowsy."

Ximena laid down in the comfort of her newly claimed bed for the time being with the direct order for her "children" to not cause a loud ruckus near her vicinity and avoid shinigami as long as possible. For the shinigami, they would soon learn to fear what they tried to destroy, and today would become a clear reminder this is the war they brought upon them. The ten hollows who obeyed Ximena's orders didn't act like the typical run-of-the-mill hollow lashing out at victims like savage monsters. They moved with the purpose of picking and choosing their victims furthest away from the presence of the shinigami, causing small collateral that could easily be placed as residual damage from earlier events still settling in. Souls forced into encroachment were commanded to escape through the Kumon they opened immediately after or forced in there. To the shinigami, it was a strange phenomenon of hollow signatures suddenly appearing then just like that they vanished happening in varying points around the city.

Karakura Town – Midnight Arrival

High above the sleeping town of Karakura, a ripple in the fabric of space signified the opening of the Senkaimon Gate. The faint hum of spiritual energy accompanied its formation, unseen and unfelt by the unaware masses below. The sliding doors parted, revealing a lone figure clad in the dark uniform of the Gotei 13. A white glow bathed his form briefly before he stepped forward, the transition between realms marked only by the imperceptible press of a Hell Butterfly's seal upon his shoulder. The touch went unnoticed by Jinnosuke Yamazaki, his mind elsewhere as the gate behind him dissolved into nothingness.

"Tch. Hope Omoni ain't too pissed..." Jinno muttered, rolling his shoulders before stretching from side to side. The crisp night air of the Living World was a stark contrast to the stillness of the Soul Society, carrying with it the familiar scents of concrete, asphalt, and the occasional waft of street food lingering from the evening hours.

Reaching into his uniform, he withdrew a Denreishinki XL, its sleek black screen illuminating his face as his thumb flicked through the contacts. A smirk crept onto his lips as Omoni’s scowling face stared back at him—an image he had taken in secret, capturing the perfect moment of her irritation.

"Hah, priceless," he chuckled before tapping the green call button and raising the phone to his ear. The dial tone buzzed in his ear for a while, but there was no immediate answer. Jinno exhaled sharply through his nose, his green eyes drifting downward to scan the streets below. Quiet night. Too quiet.

The moment of stillness passed as he shifted his weight. With a burst of Reiryoku, his body flickered—Shunpo igniting beneath his feet. His form blurred into motion, vanishing into the night as he sped toward the designated meeting point.

Karakura Town – The Stillness Before the Storm
The city stretched out beneath him, bathed in artificial light as Jinnosuke streaked across the sky, Shunpo carrying him effortlessly toward the meeting point. Karakura had always held a strange energy—a place where the veil between realms felt thinner, more fragile. But tonight, something felt... different.

His phone still pressed against his ear, Jinno scowled as Omoni’s voicemail cut through the silence.

"Oi, pick up already. I'm not that late." He sighed, ending the call and stuffing the phone back into his pocket.

As he moved, his instincts tugged at him—not a warning, not an alert, but a whisper of unease. His senses picked up on faint disturbances, spikes of Reiryoku that flared up for mere moments before vanishing. Too quick. Too calculated.

Residual energy? He dismissed it at first. Karakura was a hotbed of spiritual anomalies—leftover traces of a previous battle weren’t uncommon. But the pattern was odd. Small pockets of Hollow energy would flicker into existence, only to be swallowed back into nothingness.

Jinno slowed his pace, hovering for a moment as he expanded his senses, eyes narrowing slightly. Nothing felt hostile—no Hollow was rampaging through the streets, no Reiatsu flaring in challenge. If anything, the city itself was eerily calm.

"Tch. Maybe I'm just overthinking it."

Shrugging it off for now, he continued toward the meeting point, unaware that this quiet night was only the prelude to something far more sinister.

Karakura Town – Late Again, But Not That Late

Jinnosuke’s Shunpo carried him through the night, the city's skyline shifting around him as he approached the designated meeting point. His green eyes scanned the area as he arrived, coming to a sudden halt in midair.

Empty.

"Hah... I knew it." He exhaled, placing a hand on his hip as he glanced around, unimpressed. "That dumbass probably got lost again."

Pulling at his spiritual senses, Jinno closed his eyes briefly. Omoni's Reiatsu wasn’t too far off. It wasn’t erratic—meaning she wasn’t in any real danger—but it was definitely active. Seemed like she already ran into something.

"Figures."

Without hesitation, he vanished in a blur, following the unmistakable signature of his wayward partner. As he neared her location, he could make out the flickering traces of a Hollow’s fading energy, the last remnants of a battle wrapping up below.

His eyes locked onto Omoni, standing amidst the dispersing Reishi, finishing up helping a few souls pass on.

"Oi, Omoni!" Jinno called out from above, his voice carrying across the space between them. He hovered in the air, hands stuffed in his pockets, looking entirely unbothered despite his late arrival.

"You know, for someone who’s always pissed at me for being late, you sure love getting lost, huh?" His smirk widened. "Gotta say, you’re consistent."

With that, he descended lazily, finally arriving at her side, as if he had never been late in the first place.

THUD

Omoni looked over her shoulder when she heard what sounded like someone dropping down from somewhere. It didn’t sound Hollow-like as there was no sort of snarling or the scraping of talons that followed their brand of approach. What very little she could perceive, she could tell that whatever or whoever it was was not a Hueco Mundo local. Omoni broke into a run in that direction, fueled purely by her annoyance that anyone would be sneaking around her. In addition to this, her phone began to incessantly vibrate in her pocket and overstimulated Omoni to the point that she threw it against a building where it broke into pieces. She knew who it was, it had to be Jinnosuke calling her to let her know that he was there but she was already so aggravated by his tardiness that she didn’t want to hear a word from him over a damn phone.

Her hopes were that she’d catch a glimpse of what she was chasing and when she came around the corner her wish was granted to her. She did see a large man dashing away from the scene with bright red hair, pale skin and a muscular build and knowing that she had not just been hearing things invigorated Omoni so that her speed picked up quite a bit and she easily gained on the stranger but, just as she was about to shout out to the guy to get him to stop for her, she heard Jinnosuke’s voice coming from above her.

"Oi, Omoni! You know, for someone who’s always pissed at me for being late, you sure love getting lost, huh? Gotta say, you’re consistent."

Hearing his voice caused the giant to forget all about Fredrick and her to go to a nearby vehicle. There, she heaved it up over her head in a perfect chucking position and turned to her squadmate who’d lowered to the ground with a face red and full of rage and retorted with a threat that made absolutely no sense whatsoever.

“I’LL SHOW YOU CONSISTENT!!!”

However, before she could let it fly, a tremendous amount of spiritual energy bore down upon them both. Omoni’s heart fluttered lightly, it couldn’t be…could it?! The amount of power radiating from Naruki City had made its way to Hageshi’s feeble senses and so, naturally, she looked in the opposite direction. Hollow signatures, and there were a lot of them, but among them were traces of something even more powerful. Suddenly, a shockwave caused the earth to quake and because she was on the ground along with Jinnosuke she was unable to witness the Cero bulldoze its way through the distant city. To Omoni, it was just a conglomeration of different signatures, a hot pot of Hollow.

"Ya gotta’ be kiddin’ me..Lookit' all those Hollow! There’s gotta be somethin’ big goin’ on here. We gotta’ go! Hoooo' man I can't wait--- Oh- but..”

Finally, Omoni remembered that she’d been chasing someone earlier but that was the last thing that she wanted to do now that she’d seen her dreams were starting to come true! This had to have given the stranger ample time to get away and she would have no way of keeping track of his whereabouts either. It seemed like a lost cause.

“I was followin’ someone. Dunno’ who it was but I think they were spyin’ on me cause they took off like a bat outta’ Hueco thata way.”

The night was always Tomi Yume’s favorite time of day. The world was much quieter as most of the living slumbered, however that didn’t stop other beings from disturbing the peaceful stillness. Amongst that stillness, Tomi sat perched on a rooftop, her arms resting on her knee as the cool moonlight glinted off of the steel that adorned her body. Her lilac gaze lazily followed a fellow shinigami as he arrived through the Senkaimon. ”Another member of 10th arrives.” Her voice was soft on the wind as she talked to no one in particular. Her gaze shifted away in the direction that the other 10th division member was in when she saw him take out his Denreishinki and hold it up to his ear. Before his arrival, she’d been quietly observing as the woman from 10th dispatched a hollow.

Her lips formed a frown as she watched the woman knock the child souls to the ground before sending them on to the soul society. ”Must we be so rough with the children?” Closing her eyes, she let out a sigh. Everyone is different, she supposed.

Tomi wasn’t sure why either of them were in Karakura tonight, but as her body stiffened, sensing the appearance of multiple traces of hollows’ reiryoku, she was certain she would be grateful for their presence later. Her brow furrowed as she turned her attention away from her fellow shinigami. There were at least 10 hollows she could sense, though they all seemed to be keeping their distance, just far enough that she couldn’t easily track them.

This feels off, like they are purposefully keeping their distance.

Tomi’s already dissatisfied expression deepened into a scowl as she pushed herself up onto her feet, attention still trained off into the night. ”That’s because they are, Tsuki.” She jumped as the woman’s voice shattered the silence around Tomi and with it her focus on the darkness around them.

“I’LL SHOW YOU CONSISTENT!!!”

As her head snapped back in their direction, she froze as she sensed a torrent of reiatsu emanating from Naruki City. Her gaze drifted over in time to see a cero light up the night and tear through the city. As the shockwave rumbled through Karakura, Tomi pushed off from the rooftop, letting her shunpo propel her further into the air to give her a better view. Retrieving her Denreishinki from her cleavage, she typed out a quick message, sounding the alarm to both 13th division and 10th.

Naruki in trouble, Karakura to follow.

Speeding through the sky, she headed in the direction of the hollows she’d sensed. ”What a pain.” The night had been so peaceful earlier and now Tomi was thoroughly annoyed.

"Let's get this show started.~"

Ximena not just lying idly in the bed extending out her senses in hopes of picking up a connection to the Soul King as they said would happen. Being around the other Espada she always felt the sensation that let her know they too also possessed something from him just unsure which pieces exactly. Finding no luck in detecting any traces as of the moment she scoffed upset wondering if all the fullbringer's were stupid enough to gather up in one location but that made the other Espada jobs easier. As she pondered on things figuring enough time went by for Emilia and whoever else headed to Naruki City cause the spectacle she knew they would it was her time to have some fun. If none of her targets were located in Karakura Town, that meant her new goal of coming to the World of the Living changed, and the shinigami was about to become her entertainment.

"Come shinigami let me see how strong you become!"

Her voice bellowed out throughout the city causing multiple buildings' windows to shatter violently and immediately followed by the intense release of her spiritual power. Through her seeking for people in possession of the Soul King fragments and parts she did detect some promising opponents. Changing her purpose now to act as a distraction to divide the shinigami focuses if the majority of the Fullbringers' they sought after hid in Naruki City, she needed to make sure the Espada there wasn't hindered and to mask what they were truly after. The building she rested in crumbled apart from the weight of her spiritual pressure only leaving rubble where it once stood. Moving to a tower close by she made a swift swipe of her hand bisecting it in half with sheer strength alone, and wielding it in hand like a spear. The first target in her sights happened to be the shinigami Jinnosuke trying to discover the whereabouts of his comrade.

The half of the tower she wielded in hand soon found itself launched with tremendous strength across the skies aimed to collide directly with Jinnosuke. The building thrown was like Ximena throwing a house as if baseball at him, and immediately after followed up charging a cero in hand. The azure energy lit up the sky being released directly after the thrown building so it hid the true attack headed straight at about half a mile away. Even if he managed to avoid the building and cero the two attacks were meant to collide with one another sending large chunks of debris out like shrapnel from the explosion endangering everyone below mainly the humans they tried so desperately to protect.

"Why are you focusing on a city over there when your grave is right here?"

At that moment while the shinigami Tomi focused on different locations Ximena managed to sonido right beside her. Before she had time to register what was happening or who had spoken to her Ximena had already gone on the offense delivering a powerful roundhouse kick that would have sent Tomi rag-dolling through a series of buildings if it landed or was blocked. With her left hand pointed in the direction of Tomi a quick charged cero would follow after, and her right hand seemed to point aimlessly at a building at 40 degree angle from where she stood. In that instance, she made five rapid punches into the air sending out fast-moving bala that punched cleanly through every structure until reaching its mark attempting to cleave through her no differently than the buildings, at Omoni who too held her focus on the distant city Naruki. From what she sensed about their spiritual power none of these attacks would kill them and if they did she be left highly disappointed, but this was merely a simple wake-up call they should be more concerned about their city.

"Now I have your undivided attention we can have some fun...My name is Ximena and I'll be your opponent!"

She ascended in the sky eagerly cracking her neck and rolling out her shoulders awaiting for the shinigami to appear. Meanwhile, while Ximena drew the attention of the powerful shinigami prescent the hollow continued onward with their orders replenishing the lost numbers of hollow at the hands of the shinigami. The twelve Gillian class hollow simultaneously tore the sky apart and spread throughout the city all releasing out cero causing mass destruction in their wake, and now these three shinigami had to choose to let their city burn or try to stop Ximena.

Tomi’s eyes narrowed as a voice rang out through the town creating a cacophony of shattering glass. However, amongst the chaos, she caught the very obvious show of power, and though it was just outside of her reach to track precisely, she could tell it was moving toward her at a rapid pace. A chuckle slipped from Tomi’s painted lips as she pinpointed the entity’s location. As the arrancar appeared beside her, Tomi would appear to be caught off guard but as her leg made contact with her body it vanished. In that same moment, Tomi appeared, her shin making contact with Ximena’s core with enough force to send her barreling toward the shinigami from 10th division.

Tomi’s claw clad hand closed around the hilt of Tsukuyomi, but instead of drawing it and continuing her assault on the arrancar, she sped off in the opposite direction. Ximena hadn’t caused devastating damage, but she’d caused enough that the humans could be hurt, nevermind whatever havoc the hollows were wreaking.

Are you sure those two will deal with her?

Tomi’s face settled back into its usual unapproachable expression. ”I’m not certain, but I can’t let the mortals be harmed. They don’t deserve to have their lives and dreams upended.” As she propelled herself through the cool night air, the vibration from her phone alerted her to an incoming message. Hoping it was a response about help, she fished it back out of her cleavage and frowned as she read the message from the MIA captain of 13th. She’d hoped her squadmates would convene in Karakura but it seemed the captain had other plans. Maybe she should have stuck around to deal with Ximena, but then who would sort out the hollows? No, her duty was to the people of Karakura, and she would protect them by any means necessary.

Focus, darling.

Stowing her phone away, Tomi scanned the cityscape, catching the reiryoku signature of a hollow still close enough to track exactly. With only a few steps, shunpo carried her directly to her target. As she appeared above the hollow, she dropped down onto the hollow with both feet, slamming it into the ground hard enough to shatter its mask on impact and punch a hole clean through its head.

Rolling her shoulders, Tomi pouted. ”Man that was a rough landing.” Her ears perked up as she heard the shuffle of feet nearby. Turning in their direction, her expression softened as a young girl ran up to her.

”Excuse me, miss! There was another one of those things that way!”

Tomi’s lilac eyes drifted in the direction the girl gestured to. She did indeed sense a hollow over that way, and it wasn’t too far away. ”Thank you for letting me know.” In a rare moment for Tomi, she smiled down at the girl, her heart skipping a beat in a moment of recognition. ”You should get back home, your mother must be worried about you.” As the little darling raced off toward her home, Tomi let out a breath she hadn’t even realized she had been holding.

Darling? Did that girl look like?

Tsukuyomi left off the question where it was, not even bothering naming a name. ”Yeah.” Turning away, Tomi sprinted through the streets until she found the hollow the girl had mentioned. It had a man in its grasp. ”HEY UGLY!” As the hollow turned to face her, Tomi drew her sword, slicing the thing in twain in one swift motion. As the two halves slid apart, blood sprayed across the ground and the poor man that was in its clutches. Before she could apologize, the man scrambled away from her, screaming. Watching his retreating form, she sheathed her sword, turning her attention to her next hollow victim.
