A most egregious stalemate had begun in the Forest of Menos between Estarossa and two Shinigami who were pursuing one of his comrades. This stalemate had reached a fever pitch when one of the Shinigami continued to ignore Estarossa’s warnings about taking Emillia with them no matter what. The Shinigami were unaware that their persistence in this matter was eroding any faith and trust the Arrancar had built with them.

The stalemate continued until both sides yielded and went their separate ways but not without an ominous warning from Estarossa. He warned them that they are no longer welcome in Hueco Mundo and did not elaborate further on what exactly he meant by that.

Upon returning, the Lieutenants were immediately summoned to a conversation with Central 46. They expressed their concerns about intermingling with the Hollows given the severity of the current events. Although they were following direct orders, they returned with a sullied relationship with an ally, without the Soul King's spine, and with no meaningful information that could aid them in their control of Hueco Mundo.

Direct scrutiny was directed primarily at one of them specifically: Michiya Senko. His absence from his post over recent years and his extended time in Hueco Mundo meant his post had essentially been abandoned. As Lieutenant of a division with no ranking Captain, it was his duty to ensure that the Twelfth Division continued to operate properly. Yet in his absence, an unseated officer operated outside of his oversight in the World of the Living, their networks were compromised by a fugitive, and a crisis broke out in the Seireitei that could have benefited from his sharp mind. Harsher punishments were on the table given the apparent abandonment from years prior and his current disconnection from ongoing tensions. However, because the Seireitei's situation was still raw and the Lieutenant retained the ability to contribute in a meaningful way, rather than facing detainment he was stripped of his rank as Lieutenant and demoted to the squad's ranking Third Seat, effective immediately. This still left him as the highest governing body of the Twelfth Division, but without the prestige and resources of the upper two ranks.

As for Oyuki Gekka, he maintained his role, but was advised to exercise greater caution in Hueco Mundo given the realm's increased tensions. He was instructed to maintain oversight of the desert while acting with increased discretion for the foreseeable future, as too much direct involvement from the Shinigami in the area could provoke unneeded conflict.
