Earlier.....

The Dawn of a new era started when Central 46 claimed the helm of the Gotei 13 a year and six months ago. It was unexpected that it turned out that way, putting the entire Seireitei on edge, but one person did not entirely feel threatened or shaken. During this news, all it took was to gain knowledge and prepare for whatever may come next. The question that shall always remain: Will it be enough?

"It will have to be."

Nevertheless, Kagi spent the last year and six months retraining his Division and their training method, yet he always stood still on his goal despite the countless times his request has been ignored. Not even the time to stand amongst them to speak on the matter. It was as if Central 46 did not wish to spare him the time. So, with the help of Division Twelve, they created a simulated room underneath the second barracks under his request to benefit his Division's new training methods. To instill in Kagi's ways the Stealth Force's way. Shrouded in secrecy, this request would not come without a price, which will be paid whenever the Captain of the 12th Division chooses when to collect. The training was done secretly to keep their methods hidden from the peering view of other divisions. If anyone within the Division ever spoke of this, they knew the consequences would be severe. The only person outside of the Second Division who knows this would be the Lt. of the First Division, though she is no exception to keeping the secret. She, too, would be punished. Naturally, secrets don't stay secret for long; as long as Kagi can help, it will remain so. For everything that has occurred over the last few years, there has been a coup, commanders dying left and right, and officers like the Shiba who put their pride before their duty for revenge. These things are the reason Kagi stays vigilant and observes from a distance. Moving through the Seireitei like a thief in the night, moving swiftly and silently, undetected due to the unique properties of his haori. Though not necessary but useful.

eefdfa8433056916d088233fce36072e.png

Because of this, he took it upon himself to study the state of the Rukon District, specifically District #58: Kurahashi (黒い橋, Black Bridge). However, the Captain would not be heard from for a week without contact with Central or his Division, not even his Lt, who only told him that he would be away for a little while. He did not explain the reason, nor did he need to. Lt. Kinko was only told that he would receive a message; when that message came, Kinko was to carry it out. Today was that day; Kagi had recently stumbled upon a group of civilians under the guise of a civilian himself; he did not have his usual Captain's haori, more of a brown, raggedy-looking cloak, which was Kagi's original cloak from before he joined the Gotei 13 as Captain. He did not even carry his zanpakuto as it remained hidden; a simple civilian could not locate its findings by sheer luck. Learning key things and whispers all week, even spending time in the neighboring districts to see if these rumors reach their ears and eyes. To his knowledge, this district wouldn't been any different than the rest. Their hatred stemmed significantly towards Shinigami, and the incident then did not help. So significant that they finally decided to take action against the Gotei 13. It was a massive crowd of lawless civilians who stood around, fist-balled so tight that it could bleed from their fingers digging into their closed fists. Each of every one voicing their hatred so openly and willing to die for their revenge.

"They need to pay for what they did!"

"My boy....my sweet boy was killed by those bastards!"

"My fellow friends! We have spent years at the bottom of those scum called Shinigami! Today is the day we strike back! We do not fear those cowards who sit and stand behind those walls, ignoring us. They believe they are so high and mighty. We will not tolerate them killing us whenever they please! We will band together and end the Gotei 13! And if we are killed, more will rise! We won't stop until those who were slaughtered get justice!"

"Yeah!"

Kagi listened to their poor souls, ready to be slaughtered with no way to fight an entire militia of the Gotei 13. They were committing suicide at this point; he could have intervened, but the voice of reason would not have been enough. He could have quickly purged everyone without remorse, yet it would prove nothing. However, upon his investigation, he learns from the rumors of a child carrying what appears to be a fishing rod, claiming to be a Shinigami. Yet, Kagi recalled that sensation that day, that feeling he had to ignore because his duties took him elsewhere, where his barracks were under attack. That feeling, that spiritual signature, was not of a shinigami. But a hollow; on that day, their presence wasn't massive enough to get everyone's attention, but only enough to gain the attention of those who were capable of sensing that distance and to make it more evident, he recalled every Shinigami all that time ago, researching their skills and zanpakuto, and none of which matched having a fishing rod for a zanpakuto.

His time in the Rukon was done, but the mission was far from over. It was time to venture outside of the veil of the Soul Society. It was time to meet with the one person who could help locate the suspect himself, an arrancar who went up against the members of the Tenth Division. According to the reports back then, this arrancar did not hold up to the standards of the usual hollow. It was rather exciting to meet this Arrancar, yet it could been a farse to gain information and scale the shinigami power. There was only one way to find out. That was to go into the lion's den.

988dbe3d0dda90c170e54afbb9e9c961.png

He peered through the small opening outside the base while he watched the civilians rally, seeing nothing but their backsides. Kagi was no longer standing there. Utilizing his skill in hoho, he vanished without a trace or sound. One person in the back felt the air grow lighter behind them as if they were paranoid about the idea that someone was watching, yet they saw nothing. Kagi left them conflicted with the idea that someone was watching, maybe a ghost, or believing it was nothing.

KagiS.png

Being as it may, Kagi made his way back to the forest area of the woods, bouncing from branch to branch to regain his hidden zanpakuto. Once he had gathered it, he pulled out a piece of paper with a ravenous blackbird landing on his right shoulder. He proceeded to write on the white sheet, which was written down in numbers instead of letters.

"491920189320 '58' 919 1612114149147 1 1891520 81144125 920 225 135114 85149147 2015 8215315 132114415 2015 9142251920971205"

He rolled the paper up and placed it near the raven's talon, which he would take from him and give to the two people it knew who would receive it. So, like that, the bird took flight from its shoulders, ascended into the skies, and made its way back to the Seiretei with haste. He could have given the message personally, but this was more of a test for the young Kuchiki and Lt. Munetoshi. To further prove their skills and abilities as Lt., how they handle this situation would determine where they lack and how Kinko or Fuyuko will take it if they fail. Will those two be able to handle the situation? Neither of them would be aware that they both received the same message.

Kagi-Senko-UG.png

The Captain only arrived some time ago to present himself to Central 46. Since he sent the message earlier, it should have arrived at his Lt destination by now, while he had appeared before the members, now commanders of the Gotei 13. Upon entering, The Silent Flash, known as Kagi, took a slow stride down the narrow corridor, donning his white haori, as the Captain rid himself of the raggedy cloak he wore earlier. To top it off, he wore his favorite straw hat covering his eyes while standing in the center of the veiled light centered in the room where commanders sit. Kagi wondered if his lack of presence this week was even noticed by the likes of them, who had seemingly ignored him countless times before.

"Commanders of the Gotei 13. I am here to request permission to go to Hueco Mundo. I have reason to believe that the suspect in question from an incident that occurred during the time of Shiba's arrest was the cause of the destruction of the Rukon District 58 by a hollow, more or less an Arrancar. Rumor has stated it was someone who wielded a fishing rod and was never seen again after the massacre. Even as we speak, the very same district is plotting to take action against the Seireitei because they believe we were the cause of it. I could not tell you how long this suspect hid in that district. From what I have investigated this past week, it would have been at least ten months or more. Still, it is no coincidence that at the same time, he was hiding here in the Soul Society, the Arrancar known as Estarossa, who appeared in Naruki City, was also fighting members of the Tenth Division. So, to get answers, I would like to further investigate by traveling to Hueco Mundo. Make no mistake, I am here as a courtesy, seeing that you are in charge. Before I plan anything and take action, I would like to let you know about my findings before proceeding. I have already sent word to my lieutenant and Lieutenant Munetoshi to handle the situation of District 58."

Kagi spoke to them in a stern tone but not in a disrespectful manner. But he was concise with his report and only sought permission. Given that there hasn't been anyone to look into these things, let alone enemy territory. Division 10 has not done anything regarding the reports of these voids appearing throughout Naruki City. Instead, they have yet to report any solutions, but that isn't Kagi's problem. He is curious how three tenth members failed to kill an Arrancar. So, to do his job, he would seek the answers himself. Anyone who laid eyes on Kagi would notice he was no longer the young, fitting individual; at first glance, he was more bulky and appeared much older due to the facial that grew around his jawbone. He spent the last year training his body to be more muscular and toned. But that is neither here nor there.

Kinkō.png

Time... it moved fluently, not caring about anyone. That was a constant. With time, there were many changes whether it be on an individual level or across the board. For Kinkō, the changes were quite broad. In the last 18 months, he was promoted to Lt. and he continued working on Bankai mastery. He worked closely with his captain and by extension, Lt. Munetoshi.

Sweat dripped from his brow as he sheathed his zanpakuto. The simulation room that was installed in the underground of squad 2 provided him a place to hone his skills and more importantly work on his bankai without prying eyes. He could maintain the transformation much longer than when he first awakened this power. To add to that, he had a stronger bond with both spirits.

As he made his way back up to the surface of the squad 2 barracks, his thoughts went to his journey. He was making progress but still was very far from his goal. He still wasn't strong enough to defeat opponents like the former kenpachis. They were both forces to be reckoned with and their powers were almost out of this world.

Perhaps one day, he would be able to stand up to those forces of nature but now wasn't that time. Only then would he think he'd be suitable for more responsibility. If he were going to make captain then he would need the strength and skill to protect his squad.

Once he had made it to the top, he stepped out of the building. The breeze caressed his face and the sun kissed his skin. It was quite peaceful... comparatively so anyway. After all of the betrayal and civil war, a little peace was necessary.

This moment of respite wouldn't last long. He heard the squawk of a raven in the distance and that prepared him to receive a message. He knew his captain was sending some sort of orders that was only for his eyes. Once the bird arrived, he took the paper and looked around to see if any of the squad members were close. Seeing that none were, he quickly opened the paper and read the message. It was a series of numbers which communicated the message well with the lieutenant. He used kido to burn away the message and then he vanished with the flashstep.

From Northwest Seireitei: Thirteenth Division

08eb5b22872029c8cd60796238ee38f3.png

Arriving from Thirteenth Division Taro lands near the entrance to Central Forty Six. Kurogane remains materialized and will await his return. Members of the Stealth Force linger around outside along with members of Second Division as a whole. A tell-tale sign that the Captain of Second Division is here. Taro walks and makes his way inside to have an audience with Central Forty Six. As he enters he hears the Captain of Second Division speaking, he focuses on the words and they pique his interest. As he begins to enter the audience chamber he voices his opinion to Captain Senkō before Central Forty Six can speak.

”Captain Cog, I advise against this ‘courtesy call’ of yours. The Seireitei is on high wartime alert and you want to go after a murder suspect, right into the den of our enemy who are gathering their forces to attack at any moment? If Central Forty Six doesn’t stop you, understand that I will. I will not abide by brazen actions in the act of self proclaimed duty. Make use of your speed and monitor the other division to make sure they are prepping as they should.”

Once again Taro is speaking as if he has some authority to overstep the boundaries of even Central Forty Six, the acting Captain Commanders. They too remain silent as he gives his “advice” to Captain Senkō. Taro stares at the Captain a moment longer before shifting his closed eye gaze towards the Judges, sending chills down their spine. What is the reason for his bravado and authority? Why does he act like he is superior to everyone around him? It is because the Date are the last line of “defense” between the Seireitei as it is now and the martial law that can be imposed by Division 0. The Date are the shadow of the 4 great noble clans, they are their sword, their dagger, their silent enforcers and a fail safe should they ever fall from grace. Those privy to the current happenings should be quick to understand that the great clans have fallen from grace, Kuchiki and Shiba being reduced to nothing, Tsunayashiro and Shihōin clans falling from grace due to their hostile takeover of the Seireitei and Soul Society which caused the Civil War to begin with. The Date have emerged to stagnate the Soul Society, to ensure that it remains on course with its status quo and in the process swallow the four clans into the darkness and take their place.

Central Forty Six knows this and as time ticks by their darkness spreads, smothering out the clans, assuming their positions for themselves. Taro speaks and acts with such high authority because as it stands there are no other great nobilities that can question him or the Date at the current moment. As vile and evil as this seems this is all for the sake of the Soul Society, to ensure things continue on as they have for a millenia.

”I am here to talk about my earlier proposition to use a particular relic as a weapon rather than letting it stand idle as some sort of monument. You’ve had your time to think and given the detailed readings only a few souls know about you know that such relics will be needed very soon.”

The judges deliberate and speak up once they have a unified thought.

”We find it hard to believe that you would be willing to tear your soul apart for the sake of the Seireitei. Why are you pushing this issue so much? We told you that we can’t afford any self sacrificing actions and-”

”And I told you to think about what you just said. But since you old spineless fools can’t do that much I shall think for you. No, I will not be sacrificing myself. If given the green light I shall make my way to Twelfth Division commission a tool to aid me with the relic.”

”And you believe the Twelfth Division, let alone its Captain, would give you the time of day to make such a request?”

”Indeed I do, so long as Captain Harai hasn’t turned sour towards me, which I don’t believe she has.”

Stunned silence lingers in the room as the judges look at one another. They are trying to confirm if their ears are all indeed working and that they heard the same thing. Did Captain Date just call someone… By their name?

”I-if you believe you can get the Division to cooperate with you, even better if you can get Captain…”

The Speaker trails off as if he forgot the Captain’s name but it is simply bait to confirm something. Confirmation is given but so is ire from Taro who frowns, his Reiatsu fluctuation slightly.

”Harai, Captain Harai. If you wish to continue your stead as Captain Commander remember the names of the Captain’s at the very least. So, I take it I have your permission to make use of the relic if the Arrancar invade?”

”Yes, you have our permission…”

”Very well, and Captain Cog, I’ll be keeping an eye on you.”

Such a strange event, to hear Taro call someone by their actual name not once but three times, even showing frustration over the fact that someone else would forget their name. Who exactly is, or was, Captain Harai to Taro for him to use her name? These judges will never know as they turn their attention back to Captain Senkō. Outside Taro climbs onto Kurogane who telepathically asks him where to next. When he tells her she hesitates to move, being defiant out of jealousy.

”Kurogane, move, now. I don’t have time for these petty bouts of emotion.”

The inky fish floats into the air and reluctantly makes its way towards the Twelfth Division Barracks.

"Captain Cog, I advise against this 'courtesy call' of yours. The Seireitei is on high wartime alert and you want to go after a murder suspect, right into the den of our enemy who are gathering their forces to attack at any moment? If Central Forty-Six doesn't stop you, understand that I will. I will not abide by brazen actions in the act of self-proclaimed duty. Make use of your speed and monitor the other division to make sure they are prepping as they should."

The voice speaking was not only arrogant but also self-centered. Neither Kagi nor Taro had ever met in person before this moment; in the chambers of Central, it had been the first time they had crossed paths. Or rather, it was Taro who crossed Kagi's path. Not only did he come and interrupt a personal matter, but he did it boldly and without care. A bonafide bully, he even said he would stop Kagi if he proceeded with his expedition to Hueco Mundo. A proposition Kagi could be ready for if anyone dared to stand in his way. There were many things Kagi could say about Taro's arrogance, yet he said nothing. Kagi mentally gathers words that aren't even worth speaking for someone like Taro. Only action speaks louder than arrogance; there will be time one day to humble. The front of the hat Kagi wore tipped forward while a slight smirk with the corners of the mouth curled up his porcelain face, hidden from all eyes. In a matter of seconds, Taro arrived and interrupted with his words, and his presence alone only gave the Captain of the Second Division to think of many malicious intents that could happen.

The Silent Flash remains silent and allows Taro to discuss his business even though Kagi has something he needs to discuss first. If Taro believed he would get under Kagi's skin, he failed, although it only piqued the Captain's interest in his story, background, and behavior. After his demanding attitude towards Central 46, he requests permission for some artifacts.

"What are you planning?"

Words that Kagi had only been thinking mentally and not out loud for everyone to hear. To Kagi, perhaps Taro was worth watching after all.

" Very well, and Captain Cog, I'll be keeping an eye on you."

His last words towards Kagi, who watched the newly appointed Captain leave the chambers as only a single eye peered over the shoulder.

Kagi-Senko-UG.png

"No, I will be watching you, Captain."

The voice in Kagi's thoughts was menacing, with much-hidden intent behind it. He planned for them to meet very soon. But the future wouldn't know whether it would lead to more words or something else that would cause the two to take action. The next time they met face to face would determine that, and if Taro was to keep his word, the second division Captain was sure that they would meet again real soon.

The Captain's single eye turns back to the 46 members, who were silent after Taro showed them the display of not caring for their weak, cowardly behavior.

"Do not all speak at once. You can stop choking on your tongue and grant me my request."

Kagi stated, leaning the front of the hat upwards so they could see how serious and impatient he was becoming, that he was ready to make his "brash" endeavor.

"Ahem. Ah yes, Captain Senko. As for your request. Are you confident that the evidence you seek is in enemy territory?"

A bulgy vein appeared along Kagi's forehead. He was fed up with their questioning and doubt. More importantly, they were stalling; they had spent months ignoring his request, and he had it no more.

"You dare doubt me? After I spent time in the Rukon investigating all this time? Do you dare continue to waste my time once more with petty and stupid questions? You may have forgotten I was once the Vice Commander of the Onmitsukido, and it was your predecessors who appointed me Captain. I went out of my way to investigate the Rukon problem that others should handle. So please do not waste any of my time with pointless questions any longer. Will you allow me or not? Or do I have to choose for you?"

His voice carried authority, which they lacked once Taro was here; they are just spineless fools using the title Commanders of the Gotei 13 to mask their weak minds. But once again, they grew silent; a few cleared their throats amid Kagi's words.

"Um...yes. Well, Captain Senko, if what you discovered is confirmed and your suspect may be within Hueco Mundo, we cannot send just one Captain to charter the unknown; as Captain Taro said, with the Soul Society on the verge of being invaded, we cannot afford you to leave at this tim-"

Kagi cut them off before finishing their words.

"So you siding with the man that had you quaking in your boots a moment ago? And we are prepping for an invasion? Yet, we can assume they were alone when the intruder was here and-"

Now, Kagi was interrupted by one of the members.

"And that he could have been here to spy on us, the lack of security of the Rukon was because we had been rebuilding from the Shiba incident that YOU...Captain Senko helped the cause. And we are still rebuilding from that, so there is no telling what awaits you once you arrive at Hueco Mundo. They could expect you to come; we cannot take that chance of losing another Captain right now. So, no, Captain Senko, we do not doubt your ability. But ever since Daigo escaped, you have become unhinged; you lost your edge to think clearly. Therefore, we will not grant you your request. However, you are correct about one thing. Before becoming Captain, you have served as Vice Commander in the Onmitsukido. We shall grant you your request to take command of the Stealth Force. However, that shall not happen until after the invasion and not a moment sooner. If you take action on your endeavor to travel to Hueco Mundo, you will not have command of the Stealth Force. And disobeying our word will cause you to lose your position as Captain and be reprimanded and arrested. Understood, Captain Senko?"

Kagi listened to their words, and when Kagi thought he would get what he wanted, the commanders refused him to leave. However, he could get what he initially wanted, but it comes at a cost. Which means not taking any chances to try to depart discreetly. Also, to avoid any possibility of Kagi and Taro fighting, they have taken Taro's words to heart and see that Taro can appear to be the type of man who does not bluff. They could not risk fighting and having another Shiba incident before the invasion that could happen at any moment. They bring up Daigo, but they only secretly anger the Captain inside since he has failed to find him since his escape. But with his one opportunity to gain what he requested, what would the Captain do now?

"Understood."

The moment he agreed to their words, it was like signing a contract; Kagi was bound to their orders, though he wasn't happy with the result. He turned clockwise to exit from the chambers of Central forty-six; the bottom of the cloak swayed as he turned.

Eventually, exiting through the wide-open entrance, the outside was not visible again, unveiling a few members of his division that stood guard outside. He silently walked past his members until he stopped.

"Let's go."

That was all he said to them as his frame vanished from sight; he was no longer near any eyes and ears that Central 46 may have. It was only sometime after leaving the compound of Central 46 that the Captain appeared within his barracks of Division 2, utilizing his shunpo to arrive upon appearing, a few seconds later. One by one, the members who traveled with him seemed to kneel. Kagi removed his cloak, which unveiled his built body, where the haori indeed showed itself to be some caped strap to a shoulder guard on one side. Kagi looked at his members with a stern facial expression.

"I need one of you to locate Captain Taro within Division 12. Keep an eye on him, but remain vigilant and at a distance. I want to know what he is planning. I need one of you to travel to the 58th Rukon District and report anything with Lt. Kuchiki's progress with the potential riot there. Lastly, I need one of you to get a squad together; I may be unable to go to Hueco Mundo. But I will send one of you to Hueco Mundo to lead a small investigation team. Locate the suspect and report anything you learn if you survive. Consider this training. If you survive, I shall promote you to a higher rank. If you die, then consider this your resignation. Dismiss."

Kagi gave the order, and despite his intentions of traveling to Hueco Mundo and being denied the opportunity to go, sending a small team in his stead wouldn't be considered breaking any orders directed towards him. Therefore, he will use his members to do what he was ordered not to. In which case, Kagi would keep tabs on Taro directly, but he had other plans for himself.

"Yes, sir."

They said in unison as each one went in three different directions to carry out the Captain's orders they had each been tasked with. Kagi suspects that only one of the three will emerge successfully.

After directing orders to only a few members, they each went their separate ways. The Captain does not need to point out who to do a specific task to; he has spent a long while now training them in the ways of the Stealth Force. Were they ready? That would be something the Captain would find out if they managed to report their success upon their return. But he did his best to train and prepare them for tasks to see where he failed and what needs to be brushed on. However, he knows that training this division from where he came from will take longer, not from the physical aspect but their way of thinking. Having the mindset of an assassin means approaching situations with a calculated, focused, and often ruthless mentality, prioritizing achieving a specific goal with precision and secrecy, often at the expense of ethical considerations. It also implies a high level of planning, attention to detail, emotional detachment, and a willingness to take decisive action when necessary. Kagi doesn't expect everyone to be willing to have this frame of mind; training them is like teaching a newborn to walk, which is why he wants control of the real thing to make up what he is trying to do for this division. Before entering, two visible guards were outside the gate to prevent unwanted visitors from waltzing in; Kagi kept a tight ship on who came and went throughout his barracks. Anyone who tries to enter forcefully or uninvited will meet with the visible and the unseen.

divisiontwomember.png

He went through one of the corridors of his barracks and slid one of the doors to the side. One of his members, who held the highest skill he looked for in his members, stood there already in a bowing position. It was a half bow with a hand over the chest.

"Captain. I see you have returned."

He stated while standing up straight to look at his Captain square in the eyes.

"Yes, I have. I assume that everything is done?"

Kagi asked

"Yes, we have the deserters down below. No one would notice they went missing. None of them talked yet, but I assumed you wished to question them?"

"Very good, very good. I appreciate a job well done. You have been a fine addition coming from the stealth force."

He said to him with a soft smile while walking past him to enter a room down the hall that led downstairs. The further Kagi walked, the less light he saw. At this point, the only light source was torches attached to the walls on either side every few feet. And it was then he came to a wall, and he stood there for a moment until the stone unraveled itself as if they came alive. And the moment the wall presented even the smallest gaping hole, a scream was the sound of a man.

"Help!"

"Somebody help me! Please!"

He screamed and screamed, but no one seemed to care or listen. Kagi walks and sees a young shinigami with no shirt, bruised up around the face. The eeriness of his screams was enough to make anyone shiver from all the shrieking. This young-looking shinigami was chained up by the arms attached to the wall and covered up both eyes with a cloth, but he would have some slack to move away from the wall.

"Who's there? Please! Get me out of here!"

Kagi stood there with a sickening evil smile, watching him beg for freedom. The right-hand reaches out towards the shinigami; Kagi removes the cloth that covers his eyes. Without giving the poor soul any chance of allowing his eyes to adjust, he would instantly feel a powerful thrust to the windpipe. Putting this deserter into respiratory distress, he immediately would feel tightness around the chest, coughing up blood from the mouth while coughing and choking. The Captain did not stop there, following up with a powerful grasp around the throat. Slowly crushing the already damaged windpipe, struggling and gasping for air, life was slowly leaving his eyes.

Tortureeffect.png

"Shhh....Nobody will come to save you, even if you scream until your throat breaks."

Kagi's tone was so different that anyone who heard him speak would not believe he could be so different. On the contrary, Kagi has always had two sides: one he wants people to see and one no one sees. It has nothing to do with trust or fear; it has everything to do with what he is—a Ruthless killer. He was the evil lurking in the shadows; he had been trained to be a two-faced killer for centuries. It is something he adapted to become and became his very niche, which is why he joined the Stealth Force.

"Oh god!"

One said that while the second one was only a few feet away, he didn't make a sound and wasn't chained up or blindfolded. He had fear written all over his face; fear took over his voice for a moment until reality set in once he witnessed the Captain crushing the shinigami's throat with utter force. The Two-Face Captain stares over at the kneeling shinigami whose arms are bound behind his back. Kagi's eyes were cold and empty; no smile graced the man groveling.

"Oh god? That's all you have to say? You had one job, to gain access to locate the only thing I ask you to look for. In exchange for keeping the secret, you help orchestrate an escape for subject 6579 during the Civil War. They managed to affect three officers, one of whom was Itaku Ohei, and he was nowhere to be found. Neither the other two officers, I ask you months ago to locate the Fūin no Kagi (封印の鍵, seal-breaking key). It went missing, but you gave me no leads and nothing to go on."

As Kagi continued speaking, his grip grew tighter and tighter, knowing the shinigami was suffering from his dominant clutch. Until the sound of bone snapping.

SNAP

target.png

The neck was broken with a single hand, now gone limp to the side, and the grasp around the neck was no more. This allows the body to fall forward, but it couldn't do much due to the chains, so it hung forward. The Captain's cold, daring eyes stared straight at the shinigami on the ground as if he were staring directly into his soul, and the man in question began to sweat profusely. He would feel nothing but a sudden weight being pushed on top of him; his thoughts were losing touch with reality. Kagi was slowly emanating his spiritual energy, focusing on one individual, the one in front of him. The man was beginning to feel something crawling around his insides.

"What is this! Captain Senko Pleaaas"

His voice crackled at the sight of his insides bursting outwards, which was nothing but multiple hands and arms, tearing from the inside and out. He suddenly lost it and fell unconscious onto his side. His pupils became pure white, yet anyone who was to see how this man lost his mind would see no hands, no blood. Kagi turned his back to make his exit.

"I gave you a chance, and you failed me. Now, if word gets out that you were a part of the escape back then, you will be sentenced to death. Consider this....mercy."

That morning....

Life has been a cruel void of emptiness and reparation for one pink haired Shinigami. The world to her was Dull. colorless. Much like her feeling of existence.

Today was suppose to be no different other then during her rest getting her conscious awoken by a distant angry voice that was calling out to her reluctantly. Opening her eyes she found the space a massive void as walls upon walls of book like panels came flooding to her surrounding her constantly moving as she watched where she stood before catching a glance of a familiar figure their back to her.

"Shibori..."She spoke

"Fuyuko.." Spoke the spirit. It's back remaining towards her.

"I heard. you call out. That was the first time in awhile." She spoke

"It is more to remind you of the oaths you have broken and still refuse to mend. You remain as you are by habit and choice but your still wishing to move forward. I will not support such an unstable spirit." he spoke

Fuyuko sighed as she shake her head. He was right. Part of her knew staying as she was, as she always been, was the best course of action. Follow the rules, live by the law of the family. Listen to her superiors. Shut out all indivuality. Remain the woman she was meant to be. Stepping past those lines. Stepping past that line. It broke so much for her. It broke all the oaths, the trials, the teachings. Everything she was it broke. And still she was trying to glue the pieces back and act like nothing was broken.

He and others had every right to be pissed. Everyone should be pissed yet...It seemed only he was.

The world moved on. Nothing came. all that changed as now she had several captains instead of just one. No known faces only many many voices. Central 46 was her captain, the captain commander. She closed her eyes. " Someday Shibori, Someday I will remend those oaths. I will become more then what I am. I have none but you still willing to be in my corner solely. I will make things right." She spoke

"Until you find your voice and become who you are within that oath when we became partners. partially will be the only amount you will ever get from me, if I allow even that." He spoke harshly as he moved forward, away from the shelf that separated him from Fuyuko.

"Shibori..."She spoke before seeing the bookcases move again as the world went black.

Few hours before....

Fuyuko darted up panting in a cold sweat. Why then....She looked around her room regaining her thought processes, registering it was just her room in the barracks. There was no one else, just her, her minimal things and her zanpackuto, positioned next to her bed. She shook her head as she got up. She looked out her window noticing it was day time. Crap she should have been up ages ago. She heard a rustle of a crow, seemingly desperate to get into her room.

She moved to her window opening it as the bird perched inside. she was curious of it before noticing the paper it had. She lifted her hand extending a finger as the crow accepted the ride letting her move it closer as she took the paper glancing at it.

"Thank you" She spoke to the crow moving her hand towards the window letting it free as she moved to a candle, Lighting it quickly before setting the paper on fire, leaving it to ash. She got around quickly before rushing out of her private quarters. She glanced into her office. Not seeing any additional paperwork or butterflies. Meaning there was no news or orders from her bosses. Then again who should come first, her bosses or the one the letter belonged to? The answer was obvious but she was curious as logically speaking. If Central 46 ordered it then it will be them who she listen to. This was to be a side project. That was all it was.

She moved quickly from her barracks before vanishing. She needed to get there. Time was of the essence and she had none to waste. She could only hope nothing was to happen till she got there...

Fear had been her oldest companion.

It lurked beneath her skin, whispering at the edges of her mind, coiling tightly around her ribs. She had spent years learning how to ignore it-how to drown it beneath the chaos of her own making. A smirk here, a laugh there, a sharp tongue honed to deflect and distract. It had always been easier to play the fool than to face what she could become.

Easier to be the caged dog than the unleashed beast.

And for years, it had worked. She had kept the whispers of her classmates at bay, the ones that said she could be great, that she was meant to be great. She had dodged the weight of expectation with jokes and grotesque faces, skated by on her skill without ever really pushing herself. She was the caged dog, snarling at the bars but never daring to break them.

But that was before the letter.

Before the messenger cloaked in shadow, their form obscured by layers of black, their face unreadable behind reflective lenses and a cloth-covered mouth. They had spoken without inflection, without warmth, without care.

"You have been immediately pulled from the academy and summoned to Division 2. Come at your earliest convenience to speak with the Captain."

As if she had a choice...

It had taken her a year and six months to stop running. And now, standing before the entrance to the Second Division Barracks, her hands gripped the summons like a lifeline.

The guards flanking the entrance stood straight-backed, their expressions carved from stone. Their uniforms were pristine, their posture rigid. A stark contrast to the barely-contained storm that was Ren.

She took a breath.

Then she burst forward, waving the letter with unnecessary enthusiasm.

"Alright, gentlemen! I hope you're ready for some excitement, because Ren has arrived! I know, I know it's overwhelming. But try to keep your emotions in check, yeah?"

Neither guard reacted. Not even a twitch.

The one on the left extended a hand, wordlessly requesting the letter.

Ren scoffed but slapped it into his palm. "Wow, tough crowd. Do you guys even have facial expressions, or did they train that out of you?"

The guard ignored her, his gaze sweeping over the document. He passed it to his partner, who examined it just as thoroughly before nodding.

"Confirmed."

With practiced synchronization, they walked to both her right an her left. Ready to escort her.

Ren hesitated for half a second.

"that's it? No snide remarks? No questioning if I forged it? "

She didn't know what she had expected, but it sure as hell wasn't this. Did they know she would come?

She blinked, then grinned. "Alright, but you guys really gotta work on your people skills. Maybe throw in a 'Welcome to Division 2, Ren! We're so happy to have you!'. Just something to lighten the mood."

Silence.

Ren clicked her tongue, muttering as she walked past, "Damn. Not even a pity chuckle?"

The moment she crossed the threshold, she felt it.

A pressure.

Heavy.

The air itself was thick, humming with lingering reiatsu, like static before a storm. The barracks were quiet, not the calm kind of quiet, but the kind that listened.

She didn't realize her feet were moving until she heard the scream.

It was raw, jagged with desperation, bouncing off the walls like a trapped animal final cry.

Every instinct screamed at her to turn back.

But she didn't

She followed the sound.

The hall stretched into shadow, torches flickering against stone. Then she rounded the corner, and-

She saw him.

Captain Kagi Senko.

This wasn't the first time she saw the captain, having seen him before in passing in Academy.

But he was different here.

And a was man kneeling before him. The captain had his hands around the man's neck.

SNAP!

He stood in the center of the dimly lit chamber, his white haori stark against the darkness. His stance was relaxed, almost casual, as though he hadn't just snapped a mans neck with a single motion. The body hung limply, held upright only by the chains digging into its wrists.

"I gave you a chance, and you failed me. Now, if word gets out that you were a part of the escape back then, you will be sentenced to death. Consider this....mercy."

The silence was suffocating.

Ren had seen death before.

In the Rukon District, death was inevitable. She had seen fights, seen bodies crumple, seen blood stain the dirt roads.

But this was different.

This wasn't some desperate, reckless killing.

This was calculated. Precise. Efficient.

Kagi had executed the man with all the emotion of someone tying their boots. No hesitation. No second thoughts. No fear.

And Ren-

She felt her stomach lurch.

Not from disgust.

Not from fear.

But because, in that moment, she wished to be like him.

To wield power with such certainty.

To stand in a room like this and not feel the war between restraint and release clawing at her insides.

She had spent years pulling her punches, smothering her strength beneath chaos. But Kagi didn't hold back. He wasn't bound by fear. He acted, and the world simply moved around him.

She had never envied anyone before.

Until now.

On of the guards who had finally caught up to her, finally, cleared their throat, breaking the spell of silence.

"Captain. Apologies for the intrusion. She has a letter requesting her presence."

Ren's heart slammed against her ribs.

This was it.

No more running. No more hiding. If she did, she might end up like the men on the ground.

She forced a grin, though her fingers twitched at her sides.

"Well shucks captain, you know how to set the mood."

Her voice was steady. Her smirk was sharp.

Even as the weight of his reiatsu pressed down on her like a mountain.

Even as her mind screamed at her to run.

She spread her arms theatrically, taking a step forward.

" was expecting a handshake, maybe a welcome cake. But, hey, murder works too."

The words were easy. The performance was second nature.

But for the first time in her life

It wasn't an act.

For the first time, Ren wasn't trying to hide.

She was standing at the edge of something vast, something terrifying.

And for the first time.

She wanted to step forward.

Keniro Senko

Arriving in central Keniro quickly spotted a bulky man wearing a straw hat. and presence felt oddly familiar to him yet there was something off about him. Still he’d make it his mission to find his brother, entering the 2nd division barracks in a haste his spiritual presence wouldn’t even be needed to detect, however his intrusion would go seemingly unnoticed for the time being as he had seemingly made his way to their food storage. As he entered the storage room his stomach immediately growled and like a hound his nose guided him to the food he desired the most. Had anyone entered the room one would find Keniro stuffing his face, his cheeks full and puffy from being overstuffed with food and joy. Most would be either confused as to how he find the food storage or the fact that he could fit so much food in that tiny belly of his, consuming more than the average person should at his size the young shinigami was more than capable of devouring a month worth of food supply as if it were a simple bowl of rice, his stomach was like a bottomless pit a never ending void in human form. Despite his large appetite his body refuses to gain weight or even slow him down as he is always ready for more.

Nom.. nom..homp..nom.. Nom.. nom.. This is so good, where do they find this stuff.. ph oh man the rest of thirteenth is missing out nom… nom.. nom.

Stuffing his face quickly scarfing down one thing after another he was in a food trance, his fixated with gluttony his love for food was boundless with a body as ready to consume and devour as much as his taste buds desired. Distracted by the love for food the gluttonous fiend forgot the reason why he came to the second division; the thought completely slipped his mind entirely as he was in his happy place; a self-proclaimed master of procrastination and stealth as he managed to remain under the radar for quite some time. His efforts towards the gotei 13 were lackluster as he has only displayed great potential when joining but failed to participate in any mission in the past year. There was a time he sought to hone his skills against a worthy adversary but that quickly died out after he became a full-fledged shinigami with a shikai he was more playful than ever. All of his attention and efforts were put into food and mischief.

If this is what it's like to have a captain, maybe I should… nom.. nom..

As he continued to stuff his face he playfully joked around with the idea of becoming a captain knowing that the thirteenth division has been without a captain for quite some time there even went without a co-captain or a single seated officer. It’s also part of the reason he got away with slacking so often there was no one around to consistently maintain order. With Keniro’s potential he finally decided to become somewhat responsible and take care of his responsibilities and produce results that were noticeable by the rest of the gotei 13 he could easily become captain.

However, due to his uninspiring performance he was more like a ghost to the rest of the divisions. When confronted by his own squad some even think he’s an imposter until he vanishes into thin air right before their eyes questioning themselves if he were real or not. Keniro is careful when picking his next victim never striking the same victim twice back to back and never too often and he always plans ahead of time making sure he has a well thought out escape route to make a strategic withdrawal; he deeply believed that there was no shame fleeing from a losing battle if you can survive you can live to fight another day and in his case cause mischief another day.
