Edges of his hair had been singed off, and you could hear the sound of sizzling as the black hair shinigami hardly dodged the fiery glow surrounding the opponent's arms and hands. The opponent had a rather massive frame, and his power was even more unimaginable. He skidded across the gravel backward from dodging the last attack, tired—the young small-frame male out as they had been fighting for days now. All he ever managed to do was run and dodge attacks. Kagi had been unable to attempt any offensive on his Father.

"Why do you persist on running away, little rabbit? Do you want power? Do you want control? Take it! Do not fear. To fear something is a lack of understanding. We often fear the unknown. It would be best to face that fear head-on because once you face it, you shred any weakness. And shredding that weakness means you are only steps away from being stronger. So......STOP RUNNING KAGI! AND FACE ME!"

Those were the last words of the memory from such a long time ago when he was but a young soul. The training had been unreasonably brutal but necessary; at least to his Father, it was required. Slowly, Kagi's eyes revealed themselves as the fluctuation of Captain Aoji's spiritual power. Was he going to end things here? Would Kinko survive this next attack? Kinko has been training hard, and now the curtain is about to close. Or shall he be successful? It all comes down to how he answers the next move from Captain Aoji while Kagi watches from a distance in the shadows. But this power Captain Aoji possesses is beyond what the former Onmitsukido could imagine from reading the reports. Kagi increasingly begins to understand how he was able to be prosperous multiple times against all those he faced during the Civil War.

"Interesting," Kagi uttered under his breath.

Before he could fathom more of these thoughts, Kagi started to feel his world shifting and tilting, which began to cause him to lose the footing that was once beneath his feet. And a sudden intense vacuum sensation where the black-haired shinigami was being pushed and pulled simultaneously. Was the entire room, or the structure itself was being flipped upside down? No. This phenomenon would be the Old Man Kenpachi's power, the power of Bankai.

Reports mentioned him using it more than once, and anyone he faced as an enemy did not live to tell the tale. It was one thing to read the bankai in the reports, but it's an entirely different feeling when being in the presence of such tremendous force of his bankai. It would been something frightening for most who would witness such a display. Kagi did not want his presence to be known by the Third Seat just yet. The Captain of Second wanted his location unveiled, so he had to adjust. And he did that as quickly as possible when a hefty translucent wall appeared beneath the soles of his feet. The Second Division Captain created it within a split second to get a footing and minimize the pull. Kagi did not solely rely on using this as a defensive tactic but merely a stalling act to remove the blade from its obsidian scabbard to puncture the ground he once stood upon before the Bankai release. The guardless zanpakuto would easily pierce through the surface like a knife through butter. The free hand would motion more into a claw-shaped fang while striking the ground with enough strength to grip the surface he could hold on to, giving him the support needed not to get swallowed up into the center of this gravity that seemingly spared no one. Not even the Third Division could be safe from this feeling. Kagi does not expect his transparent spell to hold against such violence despite being capable of creating spells with such potency and durability, but this bankai?

Kinko had finally done it, he had finally achieved Bankai. He was filled with pride, joy, and excitement, so much so he thought he could carelessly thank Otokogi for his help. The training was far from over.

”Young Fool.”

Their blades collided and in this moment Kinko would feel the strength of the Kenpachi as he continued to follow through with his swing, ready to launch Kinko in the opposite direction of himself. Combined with the inverse gravity radiating from him Kinko would feel as if he is being launched down from the sky towards the ground, except in this case there would be no ground for him to meet only the horizon. Then, there was the most alarming situation of all, regarding the blade of his Bankai. The majestic sword that had both light and darkness dancing upon it would find the flames and light suddenly vanishing from his very eyes, leaving only the blade.

”Ten years, it takes ten years to fully master a Bankai. What is a newborn to do against a dragon? Hm?”

Otokogi launches Kinko in the opposite direction now, falling towards a new horizon this time all while stuck with the riddle of what Otokogi just did to the light and flames of his newly acquired Bankai. After sending him flying away the old man pauses for a moment to watch Kinko fly away from him. Why did he not give chase? Simple, because this was not a true fight, in any other situation he would have continued a relentless assault against the young man, giving him no time to breathe, no time to get accustomed to his Bankai, just as he had done in the past to anyone who stood against it. While standing idle, the large blade resting on his shoulder, he eyes shift towards an unexpected guest who decided to watch from afar. He too was struggling with the unexpected side effects of the Bankai.

He looks away from Kagi and back in the direction Kinko was sent off in. There were more lessons the boy needed to learn. As he is now he will only run off half cocked and die in his next fight as many had done before him the moment they taste the power of their Bankai. It will be up to him to realize this folly as this is not a lesson his Zanpakuto can teach him, no, this lesson is now back in Otokogi’s court. This will be a lesson that only time and experience can teach.

Kinkō had reached his goal though he still had a long road ahead. He had used his new sword to block the old man's. He thanked him only to be called a young fool. He understood that he probably should have waited until the fight was fully over before thanking the old man but he did it anyway.

The young Kuchiki was launched towards the horizon and the brilliant blaze of his bankai vanished. The old man scolded him, educating him that it took ten years to fully master a bankai. The boy wasn't some gunho idiot that would fight above his weight class just cause he unlocked a bankai. He knew there needed to be a long time of training with it to discover all that it could truly accomplish. Did the old man think that this young shinigami was going to be reckless with his new found power and get himself killed? It was possible.

Kinkō was sent flying to a different place while being given the question of what a new born would be able to do against a dragon. It would appear that the old man figure he would run off and get reckless. Either way, he expected to receive a follow up from the sensei but none came. He tried to regain his composure by repositioning himself in a way that the wall he was headed to would be a platform and not something he crashed into.

Once his feet had touched the wall, he let out a few breaths. "I know that it takes a long time to master bankai. I am not that much of a fool that I would run off and get myself killed. I have much to learn and I think the time for that will come but what good is an exhausted student, sensei? Was it not taught that rest is equally as important as training? In order to get stronger, the body needs to not overwork itself." He was recalling a lesson he learned in the academy but he wasn't sure if the sensei would let him rest or continue the training right there at the moment. "This isn't an excuse or a plea to be lazy but I am at my limit. After rest, then I can put more into training, specifically learning more about my bankai."

Ten Months. That's how much time had passed since comrade was pitted against comrade, peer against peer, shinigami against shinigami, along with the slaughter of others. It was an insignificant amount of time, the vestiges of conflict still very much visible throughout the Seireitei as many divisions struggle to recover and rebuild. They ran deep along the land, the scars that reminded them all what had happened was very much real, the emotional scars for those affected the most still raw. This was true for one Densagi Shiba.

Ten mere months was hardly enough time to heal from what he deemed his greatest failure. For Ten months he has suffered, for ten months the wound of his heart have festered, for ten months his heart bled black with hatred, both for those who had killed his kin...and for him, who had not been able to save them.

CRAASSSSHHH

Thunder roared loudly as Densagi stood atop a single dark mountain peak. He stared out across it, where all he could perceive were dark skies and equally dark waters. For what seemed like hours he stood there silently, saying nothing, doing nothing. The area quickly becomes even darker. This has nothing to do with the skies or the weather in this place, rather it is the presence of something, or rather someone. Towering over the mountains and by proxy, Densagi as well, stood the titan that was Meigetsu. The spirit is so tall and so large that from Densagi's vantage point it is impossible to see his face, the only thing visible are the two glowing spheres that represent his eyes, flashes of light from lightning sporadically appearing here and there. However, the Shiba does not turn to gaze at his spirit, he does not even seem to acknowledge him as he remains staring into the dark emptiness of his world.

BOOOOOOM BOOOOOOM!!

Again, thunder crashes as the very mountain Densagi stands on begins to shake violently. This phenomenon comes not from the world itself, but is a result of Meigetsu speaking, his voice like heavy thunder. Unfortunately as of this moment, the spirits words are not discernible by the man who can only hear crashing thunder, admittedly though he wasn't seeking to hear Meigetsu's words. No, despite how loud the titan's voice was, it was not louder than the man's grief. As Densagi stands there, for the first time, he moves something having captured his attention. A single word escapes his lips, a name.

"Otokogi..."

Densagi's eyes open as he reveals himself to have been slouched against a building within the Seireitei, his zanpakuto casually held against his shoulder. His face is solemn, and with a somber expression he shifts his gaze over towards the direction he had felt the man's reiatsu. For many it was a familiar spike, the release of the Captain's Bankai. As a fellow participant of the Unhallowed War he had experienced it long ago, been in proximity of its power and might as the elder wielded its power against their hollow born foes. It was an impressive power, back then at least. As of now instead of feelings of awe he can't help but wonder if the man used that same power when taking the lives of his cousins, his brothers, his sisters, his family. Densagi's fingers already closed into a fist clench even tighter, his grip growing harsher.

Finally, he is unable to restrain himself any further. For Ten months he had used his duty towards his division, the business of the squad since everything took place as an excuse to not confront the man, his senior by a hundred years regarding what had happened. No more. No more waiting, no more excuses. He takes a step, the weight of that single step, immeasurable. He begins to walk, his path clear.

'Sorry Captain, I can't hold back anymore.'

Though she is not there, he apologizes to his new Captain all the same. Normally a loyal and diligent man, a reliable partner and second in command, the Lieutenant uncharacteristically shelves his love for his squad in favor for his love for his family, a love that as of now acted as a poison to him because of their death. With every step electricity crackled around him, his eyes glowing a vibrant red, his reiatsu slowly swelling. Though still afar off, not even visible yet and perhaps deliberately taking his time, Otokogi would be able to feel it. The hostility in his swelling reiatsu, hostility being directed at him.

Learn well from this, Shinka-san, sometimes the goal of the enemy is not to kill you but rather kill those around you. Or even in some instances, destroy the infrastructure. Pay attention to these things because if you continue fighting as you are they will reach their goals with ease.

Despite the long years they have served within the Seireitei, it is Otokogi-San who expresses his wisdom and guidance. She heeds his words, she understands them. She remained in that room to reflect for a while, not just on her performance or battle skill, but on what it meant to be a Soul Reaper. Is she ready? Ready to leave the confines of Squad One and command her own Division of shinigami? Time can be someone's own greatest ally, but it can be someone's greatest enemy. Perspectives… It was only later on that she would receive her results, and while she had come to pass her exam, there was still work to be done. On paper she had become a Captain, however, the real test is the journey as one. She’d take strides in this new position, yet she’d remain steady and focused on her tasks. Both men and women under her tutelage amongst the Squad are trained to finish the job swiftly, and she would make sure that each and everyone understood this one phrase,

We before me.

As Squad Thirteen all of its members must uphold the longevity of souls within the Human World. They must pass on, in order to be reincarnated, in order to maintain balance, and perhaps years from then, become souls that serve the Seireitei as well. Captain Shinka held on to this vision of the future. It is not always about her, she must sacrifice her own selfishness, and her own pride in order to keep the World of Living under balance. In just five months' time, she cultivates her Squad into a well-oiled machine. Organizing them into groups, rotating them periodically. Each group spends a total of 2 months within the World of the Living, four groups at a time in teams of four. Each group operates in the North, the South, the East, or the West. Upon their return, they report their findings, marking specific areas on their Soul Phones.

In the coming five months, Squad Thirteen has kept track of every Hollow occurrence, both small and large. No matter how minute it may have been, nor how simple and tedious it is. They’ve also kept track of how many souls were saved, and even those that were not saved. Captain Shinka ran a tight ship, and though she typically remained in her Quarters around these times, she gained trust in the ability of her subordinates to act and follow through protocol on their own. Upon the current time and day, she exists in her quarters still, a brush in hand and a canvas before her. She draws endlessly without breaks in between. Her eyes only opened for small glances and then closed again to allow her mind to imagine the perfect image.

Knock. Knock. Knock-Knock.

A simple rhythm that alerts Captain Shinka to a visitor, no, a subordinate of hers. Her brushing arm remains in motion, never skipping a stroke, she even remained seated, legs crossed.

Flower blooms,” A male voice states from beyond the door, and in response the Captain speaks.

And blades dance. Come…

The male entered with permission, sliding the door open and closing it to a dimly lit office. There's no desk nor chairs in sight, just the rug Captain Shinka is seated upon, the brush in her hand, and the Canvas that is simply air. The male stands unsurprised, used to the sighting of his Captain’s Shikai by now, and her constant love to draw. While her brush continues still with small and nimble strokes, the male speaks, reporting on his and his team’s findings.

Reporting, Captain Shinka. Groups Alpha, Beta, Charlie, and Delta have returned, and four more groups have been dispatched. Hollow occurrences have remained steady with no severe changes in their patterns. Souls are also along these same readings. However…

A slight pause from the male provokes a sudden pause in the strokes of her brush as well. With eyes still shut, her head turns only slightly to the left, a show of interest becoming prevalent. The male continues.

We have been gathering intel on rifts being formed. Origins and the cause is unknown, I and other members have come to the agreement that they may be Gargantas in the making. However, these rifts have not expanded nor released any Hollow presence that we can account for. It is as if they are stagnant, eggs in a basket, waiting to be hatched for whatever malevolent purposes… We have sent these findings to the 12th Division. Their numbers seem to continue into Naruki as well, perhaps Squad Ten is also dealing with the same occurrences. We have marked each rift onto our Soul Phones, keeping track of the location of each one in Karakura Town alone.

Once the report came to a close, her brush continued moving, and her head slowly returned to its original position.

Keep me updated. We will coordinate and compare notes with Squad Ten. Dismissed.

Swiftly upon the dismissal, the male bows with respect and exits her office, leaving Captain Shinka to both finish her drawing and reflect on the information she had just gained. Her right arm, however, rises to the air, and a small hell-butterfly lands upon her extended index finger.

Captain Kurayami, we need to speak as soon as you are able. Bring some fruit. Thanks.

A simple request, but it could be presumed as urgent since Captain Shinka rarely communicated with anyone other than her Squad mates, something she needed to improve on greatly. The hell-butterfly is released and flutters on in search of Captain Kurayami. Suddenly, the air grew dense around the Northwest area, and strong spiritual forces ignited in the heat of training. Though this amount of pressure was too noticeable… A bankai? Otokogi-San? Kasu did not expect to feel his spiritual pressure, let alone a Bankai. From what she could deduce, the spiritual signature he stood against seemed smaller at this moment. A training session? She can only guess, however, that another signature arrives, one of hostility. Things were surely about to get interesting. Albeit, the strokes of her brush did not stop.

The old man frowns at Kinko’s request for rest after just having unlocked his Bankai. Did the young man really think the lesson was over after simply unlocking the next stage of his Zanpakuto? Otokogi’s blood began to boil because he had seen this situation before, a situation where he had helped others achieve Shikai only for them to run off and get killed because they thought the training was over. His grip tightens on his blade as he begins approaching him with a quickened pace.

”Rest? You absolute fool! You break yourself in training so you won't be broken in actual battle. Achieving Bankai is not the be all end all of your power, it does not guarantee victory for you in the slightest! You-”

Oto stops his lecture upon feeling a violent surge of Reiatsu, one that reeked of vengeance. The old man taps Kinko’s blade with his, allowing the light and black flames to return to his Bankai before shifting his own Zanpakuto back to its sealed state so that he may sheath it. The old man turns to face the direction of the raging storm of Reiatsu that is headed his way, a storm that can’t possibly be quelled by words alone. The old man lets out a sigh and looks over his shoulder towards Kinko.

”Go home, this is something that does not concern you. I would say it is my sins that come to haunt me but it is just another misguided fool coming to cross blades with me over a misunderstanding.”

Had the Shiba Clan head failed to tell Densagi the reasoning behind his clan’s buturing? The fact that the entire clan had planned to turn against her and replace her with someone who would be a more willing lap dog for the other Four Noble houses? No, giving this rage and vitriol that he senses he was told but only half listened. He saw his family massacred, an attempt was likely made to get him to understand but it was lost on him due to his blinding rage. Had a new regime of Shiba taken over he would have made a fine executioner in their name, though it seems he still walks the path of an executioner but under a different reasoning. Otokogi sighed, he wanted this infighting to come to an end but the sparks of rebellion are hard to snuff out. As the oppressors become the oppressed they will use those very same sparks to their advantage.

The old man began walking in the direction of Densagi, in his heart he hoped to avoid a fight, in his mind he knew that may be impossible and so his body steels itself for conflict. The old man had prayed over the lives he took during the Civil War, he prayed for forgiveness and for better days. Taking a life weighs heavily upon him, it is a weight that makes him feel like it is pushing him to a dark place. He has never reached that dark place thanks to his awareness of what he was doing. Be it Arrancar or Shinigami a life is a life and he will mourn them equally, however, given the breakneck pace of the Civil War part of him feels as if he has one foot in that darkness already and it terrifies him. At this point all it would take is for him to indulge in the violence one time, to enjoy killing just one time for him to slip into that murky darkness for good. Yes, even as he approaches Densagi this weighs upon his mind. He arms himself with words in hope that they will be enough and keep his blade at bay.

He takes another step and vanishes using Shunpo only to reappear on a rooftop, essentially meeting the rageful Shiba halfway. His right forearm is resting upon the handle of his Zanpakuto while his left hand hangs at his side, obscured by the sleeve of his Shihakusho. There appears to be no sign of Reiatsu flowing from the old man, at least not enough to consider him a hostile threat. A choice, in the form of a raging tempest, quickly approaches him. Will he be the hand of kindness that seeks understanding and a peaceful resolution or will he be the fist of judgment and put down a raging beast?

Kinkō looked at Oto while trying to ask for a rest period. He even cited a lesson learned back in the academy. Even so, the old man wasn't willing to let him rest. Kinkō gripped his bankai tightly, breathing heavily as Oto approached quickly. As the old man spoke to him about breaking himself in training so to not do so in a real battle, the lecture was immediately stopped. The flames and light returned to the bankai and Oto deactivated his.

Kinkō felt it too, an intent to kill coming their way. His bankai reverted to the two zanpakuto seal state swords which Kinkō sheathed. He was told to go home by the old man and that this was something that wasn't his concern. "Yes sir." He bowed and moved away. Even though he was tired, he wasn't too tired that he couldn't move away. Battered and bruised, he wiped his hand along some of the black marks that had formed on his face.

He gathered up his remaining strength and flash stepped away. The destination he had in mind was home.

Every step was a heavy one, weighed down by his equally heavy heart. The weight of his thoughts, his conscious, his regrets shackled to his body, invisible fetters..invisible to everyone but Densagi that is. They looked and felt very much real, and the weight he carried forced his body to respond in kind, releasing more reiatsu as he exerted more effort, his steps landing harder, heavier in his approach.

"Den-kun... Captain Aijō is no more to blame for this than you are."

He sits there before Chōko, kneeling with his head low. His fingers coiled tightly into fits, his body shaking violently as his eyes watered. He was out in the Rukongai when the chaos happened. Drinking off a drunken stupor, he awoke to violence. He moved to protect some of the Rukon denizens, their homes and his favorite taverns. He was concerned for the Seireitei, specifically his Division and his clan, but his faith in them was stronger than his fears and worries. The Fifth had Lieutenant Tsunayashiro, with his support nothing could go wrong. His clan were capable enough, they could hole themselves up in the compound and weather the storm.

How wrong he was.

News that the clan was slaughtered by the Third Divisions then Vice-Captain and Third Seat had pierced Densagi's heart. As he sits there, listening to Chōko's explanation of the series of events, her words grow feinter, distant and distorted. Instead, he hears his heavy breathing, his thundering heart beat. He should have gone. The moment he heard the news, the instant he had concern he should have left where he was to see about them. His hesitation and negligence has cost him nearly everything.

Later, he would come to hear of Otokogi's acquisition of the title Kenpachi and his elevation into the role of Captain. Yes, this civil war has been a boon to the old man. Through the path of slaughter carved by his hand, he has gained both rank and notoriety. Power earned from the shedding of another's blood.

"Hnn?"

He stops his advance and looks up at the new Kenpachi as he stands atop a rooftop. A single eye glows a blood red, and crackles with flowing electricity as he looks upon the man he once considered comrade. Where he once perceived a colleague worthy of praise, he now stares at the butcherer of his people.

"So, you came."

The red sparks of electricity do not cease, continuing to hum with power, his reiatsu also in kind does not recede. His gaze is sharp, yet it suddenly softens. "I spoke with Chōko-sama. She told me about what happened, about why you did what you did." Surprising, so he did know the truth, yet what was with the hostility that had been directed at the old man then? Even as Densagi stands before the Captain, he has yet t draw his blade. "I felt your reiatsu earlier, your Bankai right?" Densagi lets out a chuckle, casually talking, seemingly in circles, his reiatsu slowly starting to weaken.

"I remember admiring it during the Unhallowed War. Its a powerful Bankai, and one far safer for using with your allies around, even with it affecting everything around. Unlike mine, so violent and dangerous." He lowers his head solemnly, shaking it. "Your words of wisdom helped console me though. Seeing how much control you had over your own power, it only made sense you'd teach others how to handle theirs."

He stops talking, reminiscing on those times, as hard as they were. It was a time of war, yet they saw to it that they helped as many as they could on their end. Perhaps their way of helping to ease their conscious from the atrocities they committed against the enemy. That image of them fighting alongside one another soon shattered like glass, his reiatsu that had weakened now exploded in a pillar of red light and electricity that struck out furiously every which way. Now, both eyes along with the scar on his forehead glowed with the color of his reiatsu, streaks of electricity pouring from them.

"IS THAT THE SAME POWER FROM THE SAME MAN THAT RUTHLESSLY CUT DOWN MY FAMILY?!"

His voice carries far, roaring like thunder, his reiatsu responding to his anger. He clenches and grits his teeth, staring angrily at the old man.

"SOME OF THEM, MANY OF THEM WERE JUST FOLLOWING THE ORDERS OF THOSE ABOVE THEM! YOU MARCHED INTO THE MANOR WHERE THEY WERE AT, FOUND AND INSTEAD OF SUBDUING THEM YOU KILLED THEM, YOU AND HACHI! BRUTALLY, HEARTLESSLY!"

As he bellows his hand finally finds itself atop the handle of Meigetsu, fingers grasping it violently. "It would be different maybe, if they went out and targeted you, giving you no choice but to defend yourself. but that isn't what happened, IS IT KEN-PA-CHI?!" He spits out the Captain's title, one that was revered by many is instead spoken with disgust. It wasn't that Otokogi had no choice, no he had a choice and the choice he made was to hunt down the Shiba and slaughter them in their home. After doing so, he was applauded and rewarded by way of promotion. The veins on his arms, and neck were visible, his emotions already worn on his sleeve were also being telegraphed by way of his reiatsu. The hurt, anger and inner torment he felt. All laid bear before its very source.

An open hand or a closed fist, which will Otokogi be in this confrontation?

As he listens to Densagi’s rage and anger the old man has nothing to say to any of it, nothing to add, nothing to retort with. This is not a result of any sort of verbal checkmate but rather a choice being made to not speak. His wisdom aids him in dealing with this matter as this is not something his words can fix nor solve alone, hearing the man's plight confirms this to him. The building Reiatsu the grip established upon his blade all signs point towards a confrontation where blood will be spilled, structures would be destroyed, lives of Shinigami caught in the crossfire would be snuffed out. Otokogi has felt this rage before, within himself, it is what gave him the strength and courage to kill the former Kenpachi. That same rage is now imbued within Densagi and with it he could possibly kill the old man with it.

The clash would not be the same as it was with Kenta as Otokogi knows Densagi’s Zanpakuto and skill set well and Densagi knows his as well. It would come down to who wants to win more, but what does that even mean in this situation, to win? Otokogi could cut down Densagi and that would be more blood on his blade, on his hands, on his conscience. Densagi could cut down Otokogi but it would not bring back the lives lost, it would only temporarily patch up his pain and anguish. There is no winning in this situation; the only true loser in this would be the Gotei Thirteen. The old man drops down from the building to put himself on the same footing as Densagi, he approaches him staying outside the range of his blade while also giving himself distance enough to react to a Getsuga Tenshou.

”What would you have me say? Hm? I’m sure my words mean very little to you right now, you’d rather have my head on a pike as opposed to hearing my side of things.”

Yes, the old man telling his side of the story wouldn’t matter. Telling how the Shiba fired upon him and his comrades with cannons before they even knew their intent, telling how the Shiba killed innocent people of the Rukongai. Yes, all on orders from the higher ups who were taking orders from the Four Great Clans. This situation is merely the culmination of eye for an eye. Should Densagi kill Oto, someone will surely seek revenge in the name of the slain teacher and should Oto slay Densagi, someone will rise up against the old man in the name of a fallen veteran. Again, no one wins in this situation, it is an endless cycle of blood shed and Densagi’s anger would be nothing more than a sea spray of blood in the ocean of killing. So what could Oto do at this moment? Should he attempt to beat the Shiba within an inch of his life and let him live? No, it would look like an act of superiority if he did that and would fuel the fire even more.

”You speak as if I took pride in taking their lives. I still mourn all the lives I took during the Civil War and will continue to do so. You throwing yourself at me in a fit of rage where one of both of us winds up dead will serve no purpose!”

The old man sighs for a moment.

”I will not attack you old friend, I will only defend myself. If there is another way we can resolve this then let us take that route instead.”

As much as he hopes for a peaceful resolution he knows within his heart that it will not come about. He is fully prepared to engage in a fight and maybe, through some shred of hope, all of that rage within Densagi will be vented out after crossing blades.

"WHERE IS SHE THEN?! SINCE WHEN DO YALL EVEN LEAVE YOUR BASEMENT?"

The ruckus traveled down the halls of the Shinigami Research and Development Institute, the source of the commotion was Kokuren. Due to the Twelfth Division and Fourth Division having to work intimately close over the past several months, where other squads were unable to breach the walls of the S.R.D.I the surviving members of the Fourth still maintained some semblance of clearance. It was a privilege currently being abused by Itaku by way of his Nurse assistant.

The dutiful nurse that she is, she had gone to make contact with the division's Fifth Seat Harai, only to be told she wasn't even in the Institute, or anywhere on the Division's barrack grounds for that matter. Of the members of twelfth division, Itaku had perceived Harai to be both the most seasoned and the most competent. She bit her lip, gripping what appeared to be an oversized syringe, something that caused many to flashback to the late Hachiko.

"Please, just settle down. We've already sent word to her, I'm sure she's on her way."

The syringe rested against her shoulder like some manner of club or sword, and for a moment Kokuren and Hachiko's image overlapped before the man that stood before her. It was still unreal, hearing about her death. Even when she left twelfth to help lead fourth they had warned her that her blood lust would be her undoing.

How right they were.

He shook his head, dispersing his former colleague's phantom from before his eyes. Kokuren cocked her brow, staring at him with a confused expression.

"Urgh, the Doctor probably needs me, and here I am. Stuck with these egg heads, GAH!"

She hated being away from his side, not knowing what help he may need.
